I am sure this has been said before, but this was really not my fault. Someone was ticked off at me in game for kicking them out of the party. So they posted a bunch of adds on http://gw2lfg.com/ under my character name using vulgar hateful words. Many people reported me because of it, as a result, the next morning I try to log in and “Account has been suspended for 72 hours.” How is this my fault…

I doubt anet would ban someone for a 3rd party site being used. They don’t monitor or run those sites, so I don’t see how the ban would be based on that.

Those that investigate reports will not access 3rd-party websites, so if you were suspended for behavior, it was behavior in-game. Without knowing which message you received when trying to log in, we can’t really comment on what might have caused the suspension.

If you feel you have been suspended in error, please submit a support ticket with Customer Support, and explain the situation.

Someone posts an add on the website in your name, then players that are looking for a game use that name given to report someone. If I posted an add for Geotherma on http://gw2lfg.com and says this: “I am giving away free gold to anyone who messages me!” Players will report you in game for spamming. Regardless if you are actually spamming, the Anet bots will see that I am being reported constantly and will take action.

I don’t think you understand what we are saying. No matter how many times you are reported, if there is no evidence, in-game, to back up the report, there will be no action taken. Regardless, nothing can be done from the forums. If you have an issue, contact Customer Support.

You think anyone would be in the best of moods if your account was suspended?

I certainly wouldn’t take it out on the people trying to help me. That’s counterproductive.

ArenaNet has said repeatedly that they don’t ban people without a review by a real person. If you think they’re lying about that, then I don’t know why you’d believe any answer you got to a support ticket either.

I believe that someone did investigate, they investigated my account harassing other players by someone else.

They don’t police third-party websites. That’s another thing they’ve said repeatedly. You had to be doing something in-game that prompted this. What does the rest of your suspension message say?

As much as you may not like me posting in this thread, here is some information that may put your mind at ease:

If you sent a ticket then you have to wait before anyone will respond to you in here. So really you are just complaining about a ban that no one agrees should have happened based on what you say happened. They do not follow those sites, and I highly doubt they would ban someone without proof and chat logs. They don’t ban on hearsay, that’s just ridiculous. Judging by your behavior here though, I can guess a few reasons why you were banned.

And taking out your anger on others isn’t going to speed up the process, or make your claim seem anymore realistic.

I logged in for 2 hours. I did about 6 dungeon runs. Never even talked in map chat. Didn’t talk to anyone in text chat because I was on voice chat. Then I get disconnected and a message saying account suspension for 72 hours. The night before was when this trolling thing happened.

So the message says “You’re suspended for 72 hours … because of reasons”? Or does it say something else?

For inappropriate language. Which again, I wasn’t using text chat because I was on raid call with some players. Coincidence that a user was harassing players under my name and I was getting flooded by players with insults and vulgar language in game?

Well, there’s a few things that might have happened;

1) You replied to one of the harassing messages unwisely
2) You didn’t reply to any of the messages, but you reported one, and the mod flagged your account by mistake (I’ve had this happen to me once on a different game)
3) The inappropriate language was from an earlier time, or something you’d forgotten about, and they only finished the review later.

I reported the people harassing me for harassment lol. There must of been at least 30 different people within 1 hour whispering me inappropriate words. This is something else that needs to be looked into. How is this acceptable. There needs to be an option to block all whispers from non friends / guild mates.

The bans are not based on what you are doing at that time. They are based on events from one to several days in the past. A person will be reported and will be one of many reports each day. Then a staff person goes through these reports. Each is checked separately as to the truth of it. This takes time and is why bans are one to several days after the report. It’s more likely to be because of the trolling thing.

It occurred to me to wonder about the people whispering you. I suspect that some of them was the person who made that post in the LFG site and his friends. What I suspect they did is make a trap for you and you walked right in it. They probably deliberately whispered you trying to get you to respond inappropriately so they could report you and get you banned. That is why you don’t respond to these people. At best you say a set phrase such as: That wasn’t me. It was someone posting under my name. If they say anything else, you report for harassment and then you block them.

In other words by responding to them the way you did, they won.

It’s very likely this will start up again as soon as you log in the next time. You need to decide ahead how you are going to handle this.

What’s the point of this thread if the OP has already made a support ticket? If there is a problem of no response after 3 days, post in the sticky thread. What else can be done really?

There is a possibility that you were reported at the time you kicked said person from your group. Perhaps, some kind of written exchange took place at that time. Usually when we get stories on the forums of people being kicked from groups and they have screenshots, the language back and forth isn’t too pleasant. As others have pointed out, it takes awhile for the human Support staff to check all the logs and determine who and how many are at fault. Remember, the other party(s) may be sitting out a suspension as well. Once Customer Support responds to your ticket, all will be clear as to what transpired. =)

Just saying…you’re suspended for language and 30 people who don’t know each other whispered angry things at you. Either you’re the coach of an NFL football team or you’re leaving out some details.

Sure seems they read what you wrote to me.
It also seems your a bit misinformed about what anet suspends accounts for.
So far, I have not seen anyone who was suspended for language who was not guilty and usually the ones who complain the most are the ones who really crossed the line the most as well.
You typed something in to chat, it could have been a few days ago, or a week ago that another player/players reported you for. A support tech with Anet then looked through the logs and verified what was typed in to chat in game, not on some third part website. They decided what you typed deserves a time out. You where suspended for 3 days, which should either be over or nearly so this thread is now pointless. In the future, no matter what someone else does or says, remember that you are responsible for what you type.

The best solution would be to send a Support Ticket in for further assistance with your issue.
