An Email Authentication System That Actually Works.
Would be nice don’t you think?
Not rocket science right?
So my ISP is dynamic, big deal, I should still get an authenticatin email to the email address linked to my account right?
So I am wondering where in the name of Grenth IS MY AUTHENTICATION EMAIL?
I really appreciate having the auth email system in place, my account feels safe with it working, get it, working? Working? working???????
Fat chance it will work, right!
After doing wonderful game polishing, now try some website polishing and get the authentication email system to do as it was INTENDED to do, right? Right!
I doubt that, but I will keep my hopes up cuz I kittenin love this kittenin game man!
Fix your kitten please k thanks!

Just a guess:
The authentication seems to allow complete IP-ranges if you log in and verify similar IPs.

For example:
1st login from IP 123.123.123.100
2nd login from IP 123.123.123.150
3rd login from IP 123.123.123.200

→ now you problably have all future login attempts from the whole IP range 123.123.123.0 – 123.123.123.255 automatically activated.

(You can see your currently active IP-ranges under “My Account → Security”)

Your post is a little confusing. Are you saying that you can’t get into the game because you are not getting your authorization email or you can get into the game but you were expecting one anyway?

If first then check your spam and junk folders
If second, if you told it to remember your IP, then it is remembering and doesn’t need to ask you.

I find these posts rather funny. I get the auth emails all the time, so their system do in fact work. It’s something on your end. If it was their end, everyone would have issues, but there are those of us who have it work all the time.

To me it sounds like the OP doesn’t like the fact that it will eventually recognize the an IP as “authenticated” as long as only the block of the IP is different.

I’m pretty sure they changed it from exact addresses to ranges so it doesn’t continually send authentication for the many people on ISPs with “dynamic” IPs. The IPs will usually fall within the range for even “dynamic” addresses that change slightly every so often.

The range will only not help stop hacking if the person hacking you is using the same ISP in roughly the same area as you. This is unlikely for the majority of the player base. Anet is trying to stop a hacker halfway around the world from hacking you, not your neighbor a few blocks over.

I don’t know if this can be done with email auth, but when using the mobile authenticator you can choose to not remember the IP address when you sign in. Thus every authentication attempt will require the 6-digit authentication code. You might want to consider that if the option is available for email authentication.
