the Support told me to buy new serial key to access my old account so i buy new serial key and registered as what they said but my account still blocked after registering. T_T did i just waste my money?

Can you directly post the email or the post that told you to buy a new serial key to get into your old acount? I want to see this as, there is no reason for Arena net to request of you to repurchase the game just to get to already existing account. If they did then they have just proven that they are suspending/banning accounts to force more purchases. This is fraud by a corporation against it’s consumers and is a cut and dry lawsuit.

They only ask people to buy a new serial if the original one didn’t get charged or got charged back or that kind of thing from what I’ve seen.

I think it’s just a time delay thing – people buy the game and get sent a key etc so they can play, then a while later someone working through a work queue at ArenaNet finds that the transaction never actually went through so they suspend the account.

Can you directly post the email or the post that told you to buy a new serial key to get into your old acount? I was banned about 24 hours ago for error code 45, I have never done any of the things listed by this error code. All I want to do, is get my Legendary and now I’m probably looking at a few weeks sidelined because of poor management of a situation. And from what I have been reading from other people in this thread that’s about the time it’s taking for something to be done, I’m also going to miss The Lost Shores opening. I think you need to stop releasing new content, stop adding new stuff to the gem store, and get it together on something far more important, CUSTOMER SERVICE. People don’t want to hear, be patient it’s being looked into, people want action to be taken. The longer you take to deal with something, especially something like this where someone is banned for doing… NOTHING. People will just become apathetic and leave.

What everybody should do: Tell your friends. Let everybody know who is interesed to not buy the game or any future ArenaNet game. Keep doing so until the support changes drastically.
I definatly will. 600+ gamer friends of mine wont be uninformed about how my issue was handled and what the support situation looks like here.

Since there seems to be no offical reaction I personally think that is the only possibility at the moment to take any action myself.

I got banned for ever, yesterday during playing with my 7 lvl character , me and my friend were walking around looking for good place to exp and bam, i got an error which kicked me out of the game, when i was trying to log back in i saw why this happen, i got banned for selling gold for real world money which i didnt do, in result i got banned for ever, i hope support will replay soon, thats the second time i got banned for no reason, last time it was just suspension, for hacking or something like that, i didnt do such a thing, i dont get why people hack and i am totaly against hackers. This sytuation is realy anoing me now, thats probly the last time i bought Arena games, there is always a problem with them, please some one replay if something simular happen to you and you managed to fix it . thanks. P.S. i am pass 12 hours, first time when i was banned and then send support a messinge i took like 5 mins for replay.

You know what hurts me the most? That ArenaNet suspended my account, yet i’m very innocent. I’m not even a trash talker nor a botter in game. I know they won’t tell you what you’ve done when you got suspended but honestly, if we don’t know what we did then how are we gonna change what we’ve done wrong ? Coz we’re completely INNOCENT. We’ve done nothing wrong. I paid for this game, why would i destroy it ? I love this game, why would i bash the people who are playing it ? I got accused for being a trashtalker/botter.

Even if my account is restored, there is still the problem. Because I don’t know why my account was terminated and what was the core issue, I can’t prevent same situation. Support said to me that avoiding bots is best, but I fully paid my money to enjoy full contents of GW2. Why do I have to avoid bots? Bots are illegal and I’m an innocent player. Because of illegal players, the rights of innocent people like me is violated. Is this good management?

Honestly, if anyone from Arena Net is reading this thread – it’s OK that this happened. Mistakes happen. We’re all human and through the course of our efforts to make the world a better place, sometimes we screw up. Life goes on.

However, I really want an apology. To you guys, it may seem like you just had an error that unjustly banned some folks. To me, it’s a tad insulting – from the fact that I was banned in the first place to the insinuation that, “well, a lot of the people who are posting here are actually guilty!” I don’t care if you think that, but to say it displays a seriously lack of understanding about how many people are being banned without cause. My guild leader was banned falsely and I thought nothing of it until I found myself in the same situation. Now that I see this thread, it is apparent that it is more prevalent than first imagined.

What really steams me is that I know I won’t get one, and what’s worse is that I’m afraid to even farm or play the game at all – because what if this happens again? What’s going to change, say, 2 months from now that will stop people from being falsely banned? Am I going to have to avoid my favorite events just because I might make accidental contact with a bot and thus trigger some auto-ban system?

UPDATE:

I was wrongfully banned and submitted my ticket about 60 hours ago (2.5 days). I still have not heard a single word back from ANet. My planned weekend GW2 marathon with my daughter is shot. And Anet doesn’t even have the decency to respond.

This is clearly an issue affecting hundreds of people and yet the Bans are apparently still happening. I can’t help but think ANet is getting dangerously close to being in Class-Action territory here.

Let me give you a couple of updates about this thread. Again, this is not an official thread, and we’re not looking at this thread to find people we can help (because we have others means to do that, see below).

If you care to join in in this thread, you’re joining a player-to-player conversation, acceptable in our forums if the conversation remains positive and helpful. This is not where you follow-up on your ticket. Please do not submit a ticket and post here; that will not accomplish anything. We offer a means to follow up after three days, if needed. (See below)

Some notes:

  • If your account is terminated for botting, contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page.
  • Generally you will be helped very quickly (the average is well under 24 hours) but if you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the [url=If your ticket is three days old or older, you you are welcome to post in the Tickets for Review thread and we’ll get it on our review list.
  • Don’t post here repeatedly, or heatedly, or as a call to get everyone to pick up their great swords and make this a crusade. If your posts consist of the same repeated complaints, you are putting your forum privileges at risk. This sort of commentary contributes nothing to our ability to help players or to correct any issues related to false positives and we truly want to help!

There is no way in hell that the banning process is not automatic or a lot of us wouldn’t have been banned.

Of course I can’t speak for everyone but do bots do dungeons everyday and have dungeon gear? explore maps, participate in halloween events, do jumping puzzles, talk in guild ( for which I am a officer in ), kill the World Dragons, etc.? There are just so many ways to determine if a player is actually a bot or not that this is a frankly ridiculous situation I’m in (and a lot of other innocent players too).

I think it would be in the best interest of EVERYONE if someone from A-Net could come out here and verify that this is in fact their screw up.

ArenaNet seems review without even about a terminated account. There is even a level of less than 10 users who suspended. and the forum administrators continue to clear treads about wrongly banned peopl. Was unable to keep track of how many people that you have sent a ticket because ban count Post has been cleared By the forum administrators.

I got banned a few days ago with a message saying that they thought I was a bot, and it is really a shock since I have never done anything wrong in the game and most certainly no cheating, exploits, or botting. I already sent in a ticket right after I was kicked out during the Plinx event in Cursed Shore. I understand A-net’s objective to keep the game fair and secure for everyone by banning “real” bots but to mistakenly ban players who are just enjoying the game fair and square disturbs me greatly. I still love the game… but I sincerely request that the bot detection system be modified to prevent this error of banning innocent players like myself and many others who were affected in this mess. Anyway I hope to get a response from support soon and wish all the affected innocent players a speedy response too.

Just kicked from the game with a “dissconnected” message, then when I tried to log back in I’m greeted with a ban to the tune of “Botting, extended unattended play, using macros, or similar behavior.” Awesome.

Edit: Also might be worth mentioning that my account appears to intermitantly connect to the game, as a guildie sees me online despite being banned.

I am on August 10 buy CDK then play until November 11 is then title, said I use bots. This view is completely without rhyme or reason, I never use a plugin. I have 1900 + achievements, I in the result of some days before in ORR farm EVENT, because I want to make legendary weapon.
Although A – NET in order to keep the game fair and safety and closure robot practice I quite agree with you, but this innocent closure A real game players I feel very distressed!!!!!

What does this investigation involve? I mean, I have only been banned for 2 days, but what about the people who are saying its been weeks? they won’t be getting anything in-game for all the time you have cost them and it isn’t fair. I can understand a mistake, but what I cannot understand is the amount of time it’s taking to sort out and how we will get nothing for being wrongly banned. You must, step up your customer support. Farming isn’t a ban-able offence. That would be ridiculously stupid. I don’t farm in Orr myself since I do dungeons for the majority of my time but there is nothing wrong with farming as long as it is done by you, not a program.

Looks like this just happened to me.

I haven’t played in the last few days and now I log-in for a session and see that my account has been terminated. GW2 is the first MMO I’ve ever played and I don’t even know what a macro is?!?! I don’t see how anything I’ve done would be a violation as I’ve been simply “playing the game”. The last things I remember doing was some character story missions.

I assume this was a total mistake but, as a brand new player, it definitely doesn’t instill any confidence in this system.

I used to think that people were just whining about Anets policies, but now after having experienced their justice system myself I understand them. I was given 1 minute to respond to 1 whisper from a total stranger before I was banned. I wonder how many other people have been banned because they do not return whispers from total strangers.

I’ve learned over the years on forums, once enough people state something in a manner like this, it’s pretty much true. People that aren’t affected protect the brand and semi-attack the victims, which is an additional low blow to those affected. Let Anet respond and defend the game and actions, us on the outside have no real clue.

Because once it happens to you, all you want is the same answers they wanted, without all the other jive. The best example of this ever is still the 3 RROD on the 360, early crashers were accused of everything under the sun, unfairly.

Live and learn how these things carry over from game to game in forums…


That said, at this point those that did bot, they will try to blend in with the crowd and confuse the process, it’s not like they will tell anet the truth. Anet needs a system where they can go directly to a player(s) that they have on the radar and have the camera monitor them and simply verify. A good start is getting the grouped bot’ers out of the game first, those with names like “fduiriuf” and there are several of them and they are all always doing the same exact thing in unison, very easy to spot if seen. Work on those first, then go after single player bot’ers, but that’s me, probably a little more to it. Perhaps they have, I really haven’t seen the problem where I’m at lately, perhaps they are on the single rouge bot’ers out there. There just has to be a fairly easy way to make sure someone is really controlling the toon or not.

So, ooc, I bought the game just on Friday and have just been starting out. I tried to login today and I’ve been suspended. Put in a ticket but no response yet.

I’m hoping this is just a fluke as I just paid for the thing.

My question is: My roomate who also bought it just logged on and sees me online but “I” won’t respond to whispers.

I have the e-mail authentication thing where I have to click a link to login, and its only my logins, I changed my password and I got no emails saying my account was logged in with someone else or suspicious behavior. How am I logged in if my account is suspended and how would someone login to my account without me authenticating it?

So far, my experience with this game is pretty bad. The game was fun though, while it lasted.

Any insight from you guys who have been dealing with this would be appreciated.

Well, I have finally got my ban lifted after about 2 days. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting for their tickets to be answered! I hope you all get to play again as fast as possible!

Wow retek. you got very lucky. You started your ticket 2-3 days after mine. Exact same issue , I handed over the info almost 2 days before you and I’m still waiting ever since. At least I’m happy for you and happy to see that the exact same issue I have is solved for you.

This really irritates me and is only making matters worse. How can they ask us to sit here, wait patiently and “trust that we will be tended to” when so many people are getting resolution BEFORE other people who submitted tickets prior to them? It makes it seem like there really is no order and worry that we will never be tended to.

Its like adding your name to a restaraunt wait list for a table only to have other walk-ins get repeatedly seated before you. Only in this case, when you ask the hostess what’s going on, she just ignores you.

FWIW, those that were unfairly banned and got reinstated. Are they offering you something in return? Pretty much any other game that has had issue like this, people have been compensated in some manner. Just how the world works.

I just got wrongfully banned too. SO pissed. Trying to grind for a legendary is hard enough. Banning my account is the ultimate kitten blocker.

Does ANet have support work on the weekends?

Almost 24 hours since my ban. Was doing Plinx in Orr, am on Sanctum of Rall and just got instant kicked out of the game. I’m doing my dailies, I think i have a little over 2300 points and I just love(d) the game, but this? This is the crappiest thing they can do – ban people without even looking at the logs. Like they’re declaring war, but not just to bots, but on everyone else who happens to be in the same area. Been sending them a support ticket, but no response. Apparently they work enough on week-ends to ban people and then they’re just off to enjoy their week-ends.

P.S. How many thousands of people got wrongfully banned? And they still go on with this "method"of theirs? Maybe they should do something about their “methods”. Like using our money to hire competent people.

No compensation at all. I wasn’t able to play fro two days which is a huge set back and I’m logged in atm and waiting on events to pop trying to get my last few gold before leaving Orr for good. I just hope this issue doesn’t happen to me again while I’m still there.

If your wrongful account bans still don’t get lifted, file a complaint there. Arenanet, improve your customer service.

I haven’t been banned but I have a couple of friends who were. They’re not bots. As you can see from CHAT logs, they’ve been conversing with people on guild chat/whisper. Game’s not fun unless I play with them.

UPDATE (63 hours since reporting ban):

Something has changed. I just tried to login to the game and the message has gone from “permanently terminated for botting”, to “account may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual”. Also, the subject of my support ticket has been changed from “Blocked Account” to “Hacked Account”…

Does this mean I’m now on the shortlist to getting back in? I hope so. But it doesn’t make it right to all the other people here who were erroneously banned, especially those who sumitted tickets before me.

I used to think that people were just whining about Anets policies, but now after having experienced their justice system myself I understand them. I was given 1 minute to respond to 1 whisper from a total stranger before I was banned. I wonder how many other people have been banned becasue they do not return whispers from total strangers. Had I known that I had 1 minute to respond or be banned I may have been faster on the keyboard but instead all I recieved is “hi hi” and was banned. Gaile could you please please please just talk to me about this? I have followed you since GW1 when you used to talk to us at the fountain at Lions Arch and I was there at your in game party when you stepped down as the community figure head for GW1. I respect you and I would really appreciate just some reply or something to this please.

If that is the way they test it would really be bad for me. I cant do the shooting and find the target while reading chat. I have a disability to my inner ear that affects my hand eye coordination. I need all my focus on one thing at a time. When I read chat I need to stand still and at most push my number one button without even minding to see if i hit something.

I miss out on most things said in the chatwindow cause I cant do two things at a time

At this time I do not have a disability and could easily miss anything in chat. It’s so infrequent in this game I rarely look to it. I only group when I play and we are on a voip, again no reason to have to look at the dead chat area.

If they are putting out an announcement to you that will be this official. They need to make it LARGE in the middle of your screen, with a sound etc. Something that cannot be missed. They also have to account for being AFK to. Last time I checked it’s not a banable offense being AFK.

below is what I wrote:
I am a player of Guildwar 2 A/C: Eson.6791 , which is the product of Arenanet, yesterday, my account got banned , I cannot login to my account, while I try to login, a message " Your guild wars 2 account has been terminated due to botting, extended unattended play, using macros or similar behavior,,,".

I have to clarify that I never use any marcos, or botting behaviors, I was playing all the times while my characters in game. so, Arenanet has blocked my account unreasonable , and I try to submit my a/c issue by their support, after 24hrs, no respond from this company!

A popup i would notice for sure. Sound is lost on me. I put the sound on first days to hear what its like but i generally play in silence because of the same ear problem.
I think the AFK offense is a mystery in itself to me.
