To answer the Why question. It seems like they have/had some issues with their own payment system by purchasing the game through the site. Now it’s claiming that the purchases done through the site are “Fraudulent”. that’s the issue he’s having as well. o.o

Now that is useful info Draven thank you, I am surprised at peoples shuffling feet and looking at toes as if you did something wrong. If you did I wish you luck if you didn’t such as myself then this is VERY bad customer service and quite shocking to be in game..be booted and told your banned for botting/cheating. Especially after a very sizable cash investment in the Cash store.

They don’t have alive person attending these bans I know it. If they did they could easily see that for people in my shoes it’s wrong. Might as well say hey if you play more than 8 hours a day on your vacation we might ban you

Less than 24h later I got my access restored from wrongly account terminated by botting or similar behaviour.
My ticket topic changed from block/suspend to Access Lost, changed my password and automated appologies but no asnwer when asking what hapened or why I got flagged.
Any information will be good to help me avoit this situation in future and even hope that it wont happen to me again. Not sure what to do.

And then they send me a Guest Pass… really?! Like I’m gonna subject any friend to THIS.

Back to WoW, I guess.

I have to ask some stupid questions, since I have never played WoW.
1. Does WoW have botting/gold seller issues as bad as GW2?
2. If not, what is Blizzard doing that ArenaNet isn’t?
3. Does WoW have issues with mass banning?

I think ArenaNet is responsible for the mass banning, not NCsoft. If there was a screw up with a credit card charge, then I think NCsoft is responsible.

WoW has bots and gold sellers just like every other MMO, if it’s ~just~ as bad idk because it’s been a long time since I quit WoW but I have never heard of mass banning thats for sure, at least that involved so many innocent.

I called the number and it is for billing/fraud issues. As far as I am concerned it is fraud to take so much of my money then ban my account without cause. But in a nutsehll that is not a number that can assist us. It’s a VM only anyway

I think ArenaNet is responsible for the mass banning, not NCsoft. If there was a screw up with a credit card charge, then I think NCsoft is responsible.

I could be wrong, but that’s how I currently see it.

NCsoft are the owners of A-Net and they are the makers of Gw2.

WoW has bots and gold sellers just like every other MMO, if it’s ~just~ as bad idk because it’s been a long time since I quit WoW but I have never heard of mass banning thats for sure, at least that involved so many innocent.

WoW resolved the huge RMT problem they had by introducing daily quests that gave huge gold rewards. Which ended up dropping the market for real cash to gold sales.
Obviously there’s still a market for accounts and such, but basically Blizzard made changes to the game to fix their issues.

I have no idea what ANet is doing. Besides banning innocent players.

I think it’s close enough in time that this post may be relevant. There was a brief glitch last week that did cause some accounts to be blocked in error. The situation was reversed in a matter of hours and the accounts were reinstated. That may be why TigerBite was back in the game without a response to his/her ticket. (In other words, the situation was reversed before the ticket was acted upon.)

If you were blocked last Friday, October 12, then that post could apply to you, and you should be back in the game. But if you were blocked on another day, you will need to file a ticket and then Support can review your particular situation and attend to it.

Has such a glitch occured again? Friend of mine (game friend not RL friend) just got terminated for botting? If he bots he is kitten good cause when he is playing we are at least chatting if not doing the same events.

He just emailed me about this as I was checking my mail to mail him, I kept seeing him “log in” and when I would message him I would get the message he was not in game followed by a message he was logged out. This is all very fishy and now I get concern there may be some erroneous misdirected bannings given out?

Here’s my latest info. There are a number of us who legally purchased the game. We were legitimately charged by NCSoft. It seems that all of these charges remained pending. Mine FINALLY dropped off today with no charge added (however my credit was reduced for 59.99 while pending). I spoke my bank and they said the transaction provider (NCSoft) was not accepting the charge. Sooo, what we’ve concluded was Arena net saw a bunch of chargebacks or non-payments (even though we did everything properly) and assumed these were people stealing cards to get Auth Numbers and reselling them, hence why we were labelled as using fraud accounts. You’ll also notice they are doing maintenance on the billing system. This entire process has been incredibly frustrating for one fact alone. Zero communication or acknowledgment that this is THEIR problem. To make matters worse, I’ve got 72+ w no response from support and was relying on this board for information. Then, out of nowhere, they suspended my forum account for too many offensive posts, which is simply untrue. I have expressed frustration, helped Gaile in determinining this was in fact their billing issue. Never trolled, swore or was irrational. I do really want to play this game but feeling left very very mistreated by the company for trying to simply be their customer.

Be aware there are two potential reasons to be banned. My issue is for using a fraud account. The botting issue is entirely different and I’m not sure how thats progressing but from the sounds of it, they got a little too heavy handed. In fact, I read an article from one of the VP’s or CEO on Gamespot (I believe) almost gloating that they just banned 3,000 people. Personally, being someone who was improperly banned and proved I was legit, that’s a harsh thing to read.

Exactly. I remember the old EQ1 days where the game would be unavailable for DAYS. Yes, I’d be frustrated, but they communicated ASAP with the customers. I never even considered leaving even though there were some long outages.

Bought the game on the 4th of this month. Played for 3 days straight to get myself to level 40 so I can play with my friends of similar level. Tried to login on the 8th and my account was suspended. After opening 1 ticket to support, they say they would escalate my issue then closed my ticket with no response for the next 4 days. Had to open another ticket to hopefully get this resolved and not miss the events.

My account was unlocked today!

In real world time, it took about 67 hours (which is still inside the 72 hour response window). About half of this elapsed over the weekend when the account support team does not have office hours, I believe.

Support was terse yet polite and informative and able to get the issue cleared up. My one point of dissatisfaction was although they confirmed my account closure was due to an error, they were not able to tell me how or why the error occurred specifically, likely either because of policy or continuing account security processes.

Overall I hope I never have to go through the process again, but it does restore a small amount of confidence.

GreenManGaming rejected my refund request. I went back told NA do something with greenmangaming. Give them credit or something. And NA did not do kitten to help or restore my account. They just robbed $79.99 buck from me. kitten it. Anyone has class action lawsuit going on?

If the ticket is closed, then you may attempt to open another trouble ticket. After 5 Business days (from 11/8) I recommend calling the Bank that issued your credit card for assistance. Just tell the Bank’s Customer service representative about filing a dispute and they should offer to do a 3 way phone call with NCsoft about the charge. The calls are recorded, and hopefully they’ll be able to resolve your situation as quickly as possible.
This option is only for fraud or charge issues, not for wrongfully banned accounts.

They didn’t close it, but the e-mail said there was nothing more they could do to help. So I have no idea if my protests with the banking information etc are even being read, but I have continued to update the ticket with additional information, yet I’ve gotten no response.

Either way, it is fraud. I bought it from their official store, I was charged, they refuse to deliver the product or offer support.

< gasp > I didnt see his other posts.. Many of us are being banned simply for playing alot.
Now that doesn’t mean there are not ppl cheating that should be banned..Ive seen 2 or 3 in the last couple of days at my dynamic event spawns Ive been powering up my new char.. 3rd 80.

Open a BBB complaint. There’s a simple form you can fill out online. I did the same since they are saying the company I purchased my account from was fraudulent (which was them) so technically, I’m doing exactly what they told me.

Moderator: this is intended to be helpfull, the merged thread has all account bans in it. This one is unique and quite pressing.

Please post here if you have been banned for botting. Maybe give a few details as to what you have been doing prior to the ban. There are quite a few of us and they need to know theres a NEW problem with their anti botting program/s who simply play alot

What I was been doing : At the time of my ban I was camping a dynamic event spawn on the Splintered Coast to lvl my new character. This will be my 3rd 80. Yesterday I was at another dynamic Spawn event near Jelako Waypoint. I was there all day. 56-69 in 24 hours.

Gaile asked people who had bought from the official game store and had confirmed with their bank that they had been charged to post their ID number to look into it back on Sunday so she could look into it further. That’s the reason I posted it. Like I said though, I’m updating my ticket but if a moderator wants to try to help as well I’ll take what I can get. I think it’s just for that unique situation though.

Just an update for my fellow GW2 players, I was wrongfully terminated for Botting, Macros, etc. I was banned on Thursday 11/08/2012 (Right before the 3 day Holiday Weekend) so I was expecting Support to be very much prolonged. All in all, they are doing the best job they can guys. My account has been restored Tuesday morning at around 9:30am. The working week has just fully begun for them and Im almost certain support will reach you guys a bit more faster then it did for me and the others banned before the long weekend. If you are innocent please be assured that you will most surely get your account back. So it took customer support to restore my account roughly 3-4 days. I know that this shouldn’t have happen but it did, so all we can do is hope for a speedy recovery and we call can enjoy the game once again. Thank you Gaile and GWS support team for everything you guys have done and are still doing.

I was farming in the Cursed Shore like countless others have been doing. I was getting the last bit of money I needed to make my legendary, and was banned as the defend Penitent Camp event started.

BBB is not an government entity. There is nothing they can do even with complains.

Never said they were government but I can assure you from working in the ISP world, BBB complaints get A LOT of attention. And to say they do nothing is false. They rate businesses based on how quickly they address issues opened through them. Trust me, no legit business wants to lose standing with the BBB.

- Purchased November 8th.
- Purchased through buy.guildwars2.com
- I WAS charged. No, it’s not pending, I’ve been charged.

- I’ve sent support the CC billing info, zip code, address etc. through my support ticket.
- Send PDF copy of the confirmation from the bank that I was charged through my support ticket.

No response since they said I was using a stolen credit card.

Did they close the ticket? It might take time for ArenaNet to respond since they are working to restore banned accounts.

If the ticket is closed, then you may attempt to open another trouble ticket. After 5 Business days (from 11/8) I recommend calling the Bank that issued your credit card for assistance. Just tell the Bank’s Customer service representative about filing a dispute and they should offer to do a 3 way phone call with NCsoft about the charge. The calls are recorded, and hopefully they’ll be able to resolve your situation as quickly as possible.
This option is only for fraud or charge issues, not for wrongfully banned accounts.

They didn’t close it, but the e-mail said there was nothing more they could do to help. So I have no idea if my protests with the banking information etc are even being read, but I have continued to update the ticket with additional information, yet I’ve gotten no response.

Either way, it is fraud. I bought it from their official store, I was charged, they refuse to deliver the product or offer support.

Besure to document your communications with ArenaNet. The fact that the ticket is open, I’m hoping that they are working on your case. But the “There’s nothing more they can do about it” statement would worry me.

I’m assuming that you used a MC or Visa? Check your statement again and verify that your payment to NCsoft has not posted. If it has posted, then you need to call the bank that issued your credit card so they can mediate the dispute. (Either restore your access to GW2 or a chargeback.) Remember,Visa/MC has only 60 days period to file a dispute from the statement date. Again, the Bank might put you on a 3 way call with NCSoft as an attempt to resolve the issue, in which they might resolve the issue right there.

You do have rights, as described under the Fair Credit Billing Act.

I’ll probably be banned again from the forums for posting that (unfortunately) but as I said in my previous posts was the company that charged me was fraudulent. Based on there recommendation, I followed the proper path and opened the complaint.

Yet another one and ANET doesnt have to respond? I applaud this mans patience but I just don’t feel its merited. They need to know they have a problem, state so and be MUCH more rapid in addressing these botting banned account complaints until they resolve it. It’s not a privilage for us to play and pay for their game.. It’s vice versa.

It’s really scary to be tootling along with your game get booted and see Your Account has been Terminated Permanently simply because you play alot or level fast.

Same problem of many of us here…digital key bought, client downloaded today, account created, i played about 30 minutes this afternoon, i tried to log in this evening and i got suspended for an “account issue” with the error code: 45:6:3:2114, after 30 MINUTES of game!
I have to say that i made a mistake because i log in to the game before confirm the account creation with the link of last Anet email..but i really don’t think this is the problem here..i’ve already submitted a ticket and i don’t know what to do now.
(sorry for bad english i’m italian)

Unfortunately, we’re all in the same position. Many of us for days. We are all waiting for some type of announcement or reply as to what the issue is. The GW2 support is being very very quiet

You would think it would just be easier to make a statement than be flooded with emails, FB posts, forum posts and whatever else the community decides to throw at them
