I was farming at Splintered Coast when I got banned. Since it was a three day weekend, I wanted to dedicated 1 night as a all nighter event on GW2. (Mountain Dew, Red Bull, the works! ) I was farming so that could by a Superior Sigil and the Abyss Dye. That Monday afternoon I got banned.

1. I did play significantly longer than usual. (normally I play 2 hours every other day.)
2. I am using a new gaming keyboard. (Razer’s Synapse 2.0 software seems iffy.)
3. I was watching TV while farming so I was not running around, and I did die sometimes.

If they’d check my account, They would have noticed that I don’t have much gold or inventory, have been working towards getting 100% exploration of each map, and I’ve bought almost $100 worth of gems. If a mod wants my ticket number, let me know, I can provide one. It actually took me over 1 month to level 1 character to level 80. Yes I know, Pathentic, but I don’t have much time to play games unless there is a three day weekend.

I just found this page doing some Google searches: https://www.facebook.com/GuildWars2BannedOurAccountsForNoGivenReason – I can also confirm what one person said that they were actively deleting posts on the official FB page of people demanding answers. You would think it would just be easier to make a statement than be flooded with emails, FB posts, forum posts and whatever else the community decides to throw at them

< GASP > I went to that facebook page. I have been gaming 10 years all MMO’s mostly and have never even heard of such a thing as this.

Why doesn’t ANET help us? Can’t they see their anti botting prgram is targeting innocent ppl? Don’t get me wrong I see TONS less gold farming bots but yikes… targetting players simply for long play hours or camping to farm mone yor XP in the same area is bad.

That should not be your problem. ArenaNet should be combing all their reports, and unbanning people constantly. Both of those categories should be sufficient.

I am in the same predicament as you are. Was banned on 11/9 for botting and yesterday received an email indicating gold trading instead. Ironically from the same GM. Have updated my ticket asking for more clarification but unfortunately, no other response received as of this post and still unable to log in, prompting botting message.

Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that this will be thoroughly reviewed through. I don’t bot. Spent hours to level legitimately and definitely too poor (no more than 30g minus what I’ve spent to purchase gem for character expansion) to be a gold trader.

its so ridiculous that i just bought the game saturday and in 4 days, my account got suspended on a account issue for no reason. my whole happiness about having this game, starting as if i didnt play any other MMORPG, is gone in 5 sec after an login error issue which is going on for hours now.

well, i had happened to just finish my last day of college, so i had a lot of free time, so i decided to spent literally a couple of days down there farming the penit/shelter event’s to gain money for a commander, corrupted weapons and human t3 set, i had just finished the shelter with my party, headed to pent and went to grab a drink etc, when i got back i had been hit by the “bott/macro” bann, which is ridiculous, just because i played a little bit longer then usual to make back the money i lost on your riciculous forge, does not make me a botter, jeeze, just check the chat logs and the history, i spent the entire day talking to people, what bot possibly spends a day talking to people and holding several conversations at once? not to mention i was all over the place and completely inconsistant the entire time,

oh well, 26 hours into sending a ticket with no response as of yet, i am the 1%! heh, oh well, i hope they sort this out soon so i dont miss the lost shores event, because that would just be patheticly stupid.

this just in, they have removed my ticket without notification, or even a response, just like they did banning me in the first place

The anti botting program is running amok and all by itself terminating good peoples accounts constantly. We need to be heard. Theres ALOT of us getting lost. This has been happening I bet since the bot war ANET waged on the gold farmers.

The people in the merged thread have alot of differant issues. This one is a stand alone and very prominent one

The problem with information such as “I was camping a dynamic event” is that it is meaningless. You are not banned the moment you “Bot”. You are banned for something weeks or months previous to the actual ban.

So you are part of the “in error”. Your being banned while you were camping a dynamic event was simply coincidence. You could have just as easily simply been looking at your bank vault or dying your armor and been banned at that time. That wouldn’t mean that people would be banned for dying armor…

I was doing dynamic events along Noose Road and Penitent Path in Cursed Shore all day yesterday, made quite a bit of gold and karma while doing it too. Tried logging in today and pretty much like the rest of the people here, I got banned for “Botting”.

I’m not sure why my account is suspended, but I got suspended this morning while I was playing.

The logon screen says:
“Your guild wars 2 account has been suspended for a violation of the User Agreement and Rules of Conduct.”
I don’t know what error code 45:6:3:2114 means or if it has anything to do with the reason.

I have no idea why I got suspended, and so far there is nothing in my email or on the ticket giving any further information. I was in Wayfarer Foothills with my only character (level 80), idly killing stuff waiting for the local events to start again. Yes, I do like playing around in low to middle level areas rather than going through the stress of playing in high level areas. I buy the high level mats I need for levelling crafting by selling the low level mats I get, and by scavenging mats from event rewards (eg: The Maw chain).

What did I do that went against the UA or RoC?

I think it has to do with me participating in select events (Plinx/Penitent/Shelters) and waiting for them to reset without doing anything else.

Filled out a ticket at 1 a.m. got my account restored by 19:30 p.m. just try to stay calm, provide the relevant informations and wait.

I for one will stop farming for a while, don’t want to get flagged again so close before the event.

If you didn’t bot or macro, then you did absolutely nothing wrong. There’s currently a GINORMOUS flaw in ANet’s bot detection system, and many of us are suffering because of it.

Since you already sent in your support ticket, all you can do is wait patiently for them to resolve the problem and restore your account.

The problem with that is that even people who didn’t farm in Orr got banned. Some even purchased the game only a few days ago and got banned.

“Hello,

Your Guild Wars 2 account has been closed for using an illegal third-party program.

I want you to know that we take great care when analyzing accounts prior to termination. NCsoft support staff is both diligent and conservative in determining which accounts are using these programs, and we only terminate an account only after we are able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that such use has occurred."

I really resisted on posting here because I seriously thought that my problem would get resolved and I would get my account back so I can happily go back to playing guild wars 2 which I enjoyed playing very much but nope! I get this reply in which they are still accusing me that I “bot” whereas I clearly know along with others I play with, that I clearly do not. Everything I have earned and achieved in that game, I did all by myself without any “third party program” helping me. I played this game all the way back when it was BWE3 and I have not once used any programs like “botting” or anything similar to that and I’m still being accused. I waited 4 days for that reply…. Wonder how long it will take for the next reply to get back to me…. without counting the chances of them still accusing me of “botting”

I just submitted this issue as a news story to a pretty large gaming website. Hopefully they publish an article about this garbage.

I was going to ask if anyone had connections at any of the popular game sites to help this issue get more notice. This would force Arena to at least respond in some generic way. Isn’t it sad that in this day and age we are HOPING for something as little as an automated generic response that there is a known issue?

Well, it seems like the anti-bot code missfired and if there is a remote chance to get banned again by farming I’d rather not farm a few days and enjoy the event instead.

We will probably never know why people got flagged and ArenaNet would be foolish to relay such information as it could be used to create bots that won’t be detected.

And don’t forget, not only did their software flag a ton of innocent accounts, they went public with how proud they were of closing down 3,000 active accounts.

I imitated a gold farmer, just for one joke and this is what I get? A terrible, incompetent tech support team that can’t determine a bot from bacon? A team that will deem you a pest, then swindle you out of sixty dollars? A development team eager to brag about how many legitimate, active players they’ve shaken off? ANet won’t say anything about it, so we can only hope it’s being fixed. If you didn’t send a support ticket, do that as soon as possible. After that, all you can do is wait like the rest of us.

Thank you for this response, and others as well.. My theory that there is some type of link between long play times and the anti bot program flagging people and then the accounts get banned without any live person investigating is gaining ground.

People that do bot whether for personal gain and or part of a farming crew should be banned imo. It’s actually a good thing, But to have no checks in place to protect us honest people from the program is not good.

I hope ANET sees this

Perhaps but I don’t think its a coincidence chief. Prior to this I had been exclusively WvWing for over a month.. I went from 36-69 on a new character in about 48 hours camping the Centaur and UD dead dynamic events for long periods of time. Then I get banned. Also something is flagging the accounts.. Not just myself but others are showing bans after long farming or XP sessions.

You are also assuming that it was something from the past, we don’t know that, but I have been reading alot of these threads and posts and I see this same symptom over and over for many of us

I know Arena Net does not want to punish honest people and this could be a lead for them to help themselves ( IE less of us here submitting tickets being upset )

It is unfortunate but the only logical conclusion to draw is this one above. The anti bot software is running on autopilot and bans people for whatever they were " flagged " for that meets its search criteria. In my and many other peoples case it’s simply for playing a long time in a certain area.

ANET could really help themselves and us by acknowledging it. Then if I were them I would just unban X accounts until they could actually really investigate it. Theyre swamped with our tickets and I think it shows very poor on them to make us submit tickets and come here in droves without even admitting they messed up

I’ve a ticket in now. I did have some random person send me an in game message. I just assumed it was noise and I ignored it. I can’t tell you how far from a hardcore player / botter I am. I have a 8 week old baby and a 2 year old. This is just a little me time before the day starts up again.

Is this ArenaNet’s move? Take my 60$ and then cancel my account a few weeks later. I couldn’t be more disappointed with a company.

so much for that “take great care” before terminating accounts, what care? you just set your bot banner to auto bann people for no reason or proof then ignore the legitimate players who got banned from it, nice policy there anet

It is unfortunate but the only logical conclusion to draw is this one above. The anti bot software is running on autopilot and bans people for whatever they were " flagged " for that meets its search criteria. In my and many other peoples case it’s simply for playing a long time in a certain area.

ANET could really help themselves and us by acknowledging it. Then if I were them I would just unban X accounts until they could actually really investigate it. Theyre swamped with our tickets and I think it shows very poor on them to make us submit tickets and come here in droves without even admitting they messed up

Well said Jonathan. I used to work in a fraud department for a major ISP and would block suspicious accounts WITH evidence, but whenever we ran into an issue where we questioned any of the automation, noticed any major changes (like large amounts of flagged accounts) we ALWAYS stopped blocking accounts. We’d rather error on the side of the good customers and let a few bad ones get away with it until we were certain we had things corrected.

The other odd thing about this whole thing. REAL fraudsters wouldn’t stick around long enough to complain. They’d simply steal a new credit card, hack a new account and go about their business. And if all of these people were being banned for Karma exploiting (Im so new to the game I don’t even know what Karma is used for), then fix the exploit, acknowledge exactly what they did, roll back the any gain and warn them never again.

Ive been seriously looking into getting setup to just record my gameplay 24/7 after this. then if they ban me for botting again in the future I can tell them to feel free to view the footage Ill have hundreds of hours of.

that is if they ever look at my ticket and get around to unbanning me. Ive been playing various mmo games since eq launched and never had a problem like this before. even if/when I am unbanned I will be on pins and needles wondering when the next automated system will disable my ability to play.

I am the furthest from a botter this game has ever seen. I might have 20 hours of game time in. I play when my babies let me, and that isn’t frequently. They just took my 60$ and kicked me out. I had one good day of play after switching jobs and getting a day off. I posted such a shiny review of the solo experience to my buddies on G+. Guess what they are going to see now?

yeh, i would definantly like a title roughly like that if i ever get back in, as unlikely as it is, they will probably just delete my ticket again and ignore me without warning or acknolegement

If you haven’t posted your ticket in the 3 day or older thread, I would highly suggest you do so. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for a response from ANet.

A guildmate of mine was just banned…doing the exact same thing the OP was doing, only difference was he nodded off and came back to a black screen 10-15 mins later. Now he plays ALOT and farms ALOT. like 900 hours played on his toon, and over a hundred bucks spent on gems, his account is full of frill items, why would a bot have frill items? With all his playing he doesnt even have a legendary and I don’t think has ever gone above 20g, since, he likes to craft on alts.

I mean a LITTLE investigation would show he has a pattern of play, he BUYS gems regularly, what bot buys gems and spends them?

The only ones i see using ‘Automation’ is ANet…

I can assure you if politeness has anything to do with a timely response on reactivation of my wrongfully banned account mine will take a month. I do not feel its warranted. They have a problem. Know they have a problem but won’t acknowledge that they are banning people who are not botting. Theyre simply reactivating.

Wow same thing happened to me yesterday Jonathan i was at Jelako Waypoint. I fell asleep at the keyboard for a few minute then I saw the black screen. After which i saw the ban notice. Wanted to get my alt up a few levels . Just dropped like 100 dollars in the last few weeks for gems. This is not really very fair been waiting to play this game for years have 800 hours already on my characters. I am an old fart 63 to be exact I work part time so plenty of time for gaming. I really want to keep playing this game it’s much better then what’s on tv. they should have least given a warning

Many of us hardcore players do what your friend does. For example myself when power lvling a character..I will do the dynamic event chain…lets say it takes 10-15 mins.. then once its over sometimes I will afk somewhere after selling to wait for the event chain to start again. Then 5 minutes later once the event goes back up do it again. rinse repeat.

The problem is..ANET isnt investigating, we are getting flagged based upon some criteria and then auto banned. Obviously im not botting I have 2 geared 80s and purchased MANY gems. All this could have bene verified..but it wasn’t.

What I don’t get is I am a fairly new victim about 12 hours now but many ppl had this done to them days ago and no response from ANET
