After playing for several days with no crashing issues at all, I am now experiencing a crash during the load screen every time I select a certain character to play. My other characters load into the world fine with no issues. I checked to see if could log into my account and load my character using a friend’s computer, and his game crashed as well, even though he hasn’t had any previous issues and is using completely different hardware. Customer service has only suggested fixes dealing with my client, such as:
-Deleting and reinstalling the client
-Running the Guild Wars 2 -repair tool
-Deleting Local.dat and GW2.tmp
-Removing old drivers and updating to beta drivers
-Changing various graphics options in the game

None of these have done anything to resolve the issue. Recently, a second character succumbed to the load-crashing and can’t be selected without crashing the game. That charaacter is also confirmed to crash on other PCs, while my remaining characters work fine.
My level 25 warrior is located in Divinity’s Reach
My level 42 Guardian is located in Blazeridge Steppes.
Below are the specs for my main PC that first experienced the issue. And the crash report I get now any time I try to select the character.

A.Net really needs to get on the ball with all the Exception: c0000005 CTDs.

Memory at address ‘xxx’ could not be read/written, etc. So many of these CTDs lately.

Also, lots of:

  • Crash <—*
    Assertion: frameId

as well.

Sorry I couldn’t actually help, just a little irritated with the [in]stability of this game. =P

Am I the only one who found a way to break their characters all computers?

No prob, please take a screenshot of all normal running background processes (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, make sure “Show processes from all users” is checked at the bottom left). Upload it to this thread and we’ll take a look. Also, screenshot your msconfig (start→run→type ‘msconfig’→press enter→click Startup tab) and upload that here as well.

How actually did you try to log in in other PCs? Did you install GW2 separately or did you copy your installation to other PCs just to watch them crash over and over?
It sounds like that you downloaded a corrupt installation, and my guess is that if you copied it on other PCs, it just wouldn’t work as it’s not working on yours.

I redownloaded the client off guildwars2.com on the new PC. I didn’t do any copying of the files. It was a fresh installation.

If you are running xfire (not cross-fire, the in-game chat utility) uninstall it and see what happens. It caused a crash with that error for me.

All of those programs that add an in-game overlay are having problems on a few rigs. AB, PX, xfire, Steam, EA’s origin, maybe Fraps, etc.

hmm did your friend also have an AMD? There seems to be a pattern because I have wierd issues with this game crashing in story and dungeons only. I wont repost everything I’ve dont and checked here since it is in other posts. BUT the pattern I’ve seen from all the wierd stories of crashes is we all have some form of an AMD CPU.

no i have an i5 3570k, its not an AMD gpu or cpu issue.
Can we get some Anet acknowledgement, basically can’t launch this game unless i try over 20 times and restart like 10 times.
