My account was recently hacked, fortunately all they took was the money from each of my characters and no collectibles or other items were missing. I went to go change my password and every time I enter the old password and desired new password and click save changes nothing happens, the old password just remains with the account.

similar issues. testing the change password page I could slap the keyboard a few time and enter a new password and not get an error. It didn’t take the new password but is there a reason it wouldn’t display an error.

after awhile i managed to get it to take a new password without changing my original methodology and was able to change the password. Searching around for security issues others are having I came across this:

GW2 released this a few days back.
“We now have a database of passwords used in hack attempts, and we don’t allow users to choose those passwords. We require each new password to be a unique password that has never before been used or tested. New users are thus protected from accidentally using a password that hackers already know, and we strongly encourage existing users to change their passwords to ensure that they too are protected. "

I wanted to test this so, yet again, changed my password. I changed it to something that looked kinda like this: U3(ik^5HuTa$ and the password came up as on there used by hacked accounts. Maybe it was sure happenstance that I managed to guess a hacked password but if this kind of password isn’t safe what is?

furthermore when the password came up as on the hacked password database the page referred me to a third party page depicting a comic strip to tell me how to make a password. not only insulting to the intelligence of the players it seems arenanet thinks this to be a joke. wasn’t only a bit ago arenanet blamed fansites for security breaches and now you are refering us to 3rd party sites to create passwords?

Hi, not sure if the problems still not resolved or its happening all over again but, when I attempt to change my password, i get errors telling me it has to be atleast 8 characters long, despite mine being about 12 long.

people can still log in using their old password after changing it.

I tried to change my password a couple of days ago, and although I got no errors, my password was not changed
I have not tried to change it again, as I fear I may end up locked out of the account

oh! and I did not use any special characters

I got the email saying someone from China was attempting to log into my account and I’ve tried to change my password but have been unable to.

I put in my old password twice and the new password but when I click save everything disappears and nothing is saved.

0-9

Same here. Got an e-mail saying someone was trying to hack my account and went online to change my password. No dice. Whenever I try to change it with valid values, I get no response and the password remains unchanged.

I have been discussing these reports (and those that come in via tickets) to try to determine if we have some sort of issue. A lot of times, folks are trying to log in using their display name instead of their (email) log-in name. Other times, they’re simply typing the wrong information, or making a consistent typo. But we don’t want to mark these as “user error” unless we know there isn’t an issue.

Can you folks please update to say what happened with your situation? Were you able to log in? What solved the problem?

for me, this is not a ‘log-in’ issue, it is a ‘change your password’ issue
when trying to change the password, I enter a new password – confirm it…and nothing happens

there is no message saying there is an error, and the password does not change at all; so, in essence, I am unable to change my password

I have no security issues at this time, I was just wanting to change it periodically, as a safety measure, but it doesn’t respond…and, as I said before, I don’t want to mess around with it too much, for fear of being locked out of my account

I have the same problem as Inculpatus cedo.
I must be at my 50th attempt to change the password and the Confirm password is bordered red at the end of the operation (even if I paste the password in the last 2 text boxes).

This is getting funny
