Secondly, your really good friend is one of the people that bandwagoned onto the higher servers and helped to cause a huge imbalance in the WvW server populations. The upper servers are now locked to try and fix the problem your friend helped create. If he is really a such a good friend he will transfer down to join you on a server that is open.

It costs them nothing but play time. Transferring down costs something like 85 gold, that’s maybe a day or 2 of doing PvE if they don’t have it already.

They recently change the rule which makes whatever waiting all night pointless. You will never EVER play with your friends unless your friend move to a lower pop WvW server.

I don’t know which game you are playing but I’ve been playing since release and I don’t have 85 gold…
Run a week or world bosses.. youll have over 100g easy, I make about 20g a day just doing them, mix that with PVE dungeon runs, selling your junk youll have tons of money.
Anet locked the T1 servers because of the problems it caused with server stacking. its not going to change any time soon, those servers no longer bounce from very high to full anymore.

Sell the mats in your inventory, run a few dungeons (I know it’s awful but they are stupid easy and very profitable), build and sell guild catas, exchange badges for golems and make some omegas to sell, or if you feel like wearing out your mouse just convert karma to gold.
Or… you could just continue to qq on the forums about the first good change WvW has gotten in a long friggin time. Your choice, I don’t really care either way.

It’s only $7.50 to $12.50 to transfer to Servers that are not Very High. Perhaps, your good friend and others won’t find that too expensive. Or, as other suggested, they can earn in-game gold to exchange to Gems.
If you still decided to wait, I’m afraid it may be months to years before we see changes in Server Population, again.

It’s not a Tier 1 server though… I think it’s Tier 2.

So my really good friend, his brother, his girlfriend and a few other friends from my country bought the game.
They are really into WvW and I want to play with them.
The server (world) they are on is always full.
I thought I could stay up late, or wake up super early and the server would eventually become transferable with gems.
It has been MONTHS and the server is always listed as FULL.
Not even World of Warcraft handles servers like this. It is ridiculous that I can’t even get to enjoy WvW with my friends after various attempts to transfer for MONTHS.
I like they way they handle the servers myself. Other games base it off currently loged in which can cause issues during prime time where you can’t log in to your character. That will never happen here since it is based on how many call it home.

No system is all good or all bad. ANet has decided that they want to have servers count population by number who have chosen that world as opposed to online.
If you can’t play at all due to too many already online, you can’t play with your friends. ANet decided the ability to play at all times is more important to them than the ability to play with friends in all aspects of the game at all times. You obviously disagree, but at this point, they aren’t likely to change how they count players. Especially not since stacking has been a huge problem for WvW.

But the current system doesn’t prevent you from playing at all if too many people are online at the moment. Even if all you wanted to do was do the World Boss train with your friends at the moment.
You just view the other system as better than the one used. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
You just need to realize that the system isn’t very likely to change. 1. It’s probably not an easy fix, so there would need to be a huge positive gain to do this. 2. There’s already complaints about server stacking and the other system used would only exacerbate the stacking.
