I try downloading the latest patch in the launcher but it goes to around 40kb and then the kb/s slowly decrease until it hits 0kb/s and I cannot download the patch. It has done it multiple times when I try and restart the launcher.

I have this same problem. I could play fine a few days ago. I hadn’t had a chance to log in till today, but upon trying, I am stuck at 0KB and 0KB/s at Downloading.

Disabled my Firewall to no avail.

Edit: I can’t even shut down the launcher; I have to open the Task manager to do it.

-repair didn’t do anything.
Deleted my .dat, didn’t do anything.
Completely uninstalled, then went to install from disk. (Still didn’t do anything.)
Downloaded setup.exe from the website. Didn’t do anything.

This is pretty abysmal.

same here, exactly the same. Been trying for 15 mins now, perhaps time to call it a night

I am having the same issue. Just tried to log in for the first time today and having this problem.

After checking some other posts, here’s my system info.

MSI GT780DXR.

Windows 8 Professional.
i5-2450m
NVIDIA GTX570M 1.5GB
8GB DDRIII RAM

My machine’s more than capable of running GW2, and this has only happened after I got booted out for the new build. The moment I tried to log back in I was met with this.

Can we please get a response to this? Ever since the newest build my GW2 launcher wouldn’t work. The problem is the same as OP’s.

I’m having the same problem, logged off a couple minutes before the patch, haven’t been able to get back in since. When i start the launcher the download rate quickly to falls to 0Kb/s and nothing happens.

I tried following the steps outlined in this post:

but couldn’t get the repair thing to work. When i tried to redownload the game I just got the same launcher problems.

Tried to update the path-didnt work
altered dat file -didnt work
uninstalled completely an tried to reinstall – didnt work
downloaded fom site, guess what?
Didn’t work >;(

Same problem cant even reinstall it either the client does the same thing. Anyone have an answer yet.

I took off AVGs Resident Shield, ran the launcher, and it worked. Looks like it got scared of the patch.

Edit: I spoke to soon, I can now get through the initial ‘launcher update’ part, but I’m still downloading the actual patch a pitiful speed (a few kb per minute).

I have the same problem.
I hoped it was just some server issue but it’s been several hours now. Everything worked fine until this patch and I haven’t changed anything since I last played the game just before the patch went up.

Same problem over here, it was working fine up until last night. My connection speed is topped out and I downed my firewall and after 3 hours of closing and opening the launcher managed to get the launcher update but the actual game update on the login screen ramps up and quickly drops to 0kb/sec. Looks like I’m not playing any GW2 tonight at least I know it’s not just me having this issue. I just hope it will be fixed by tomorrow : /

And it just patched for me, maybe they fixed it. Time for me to go to work -_-

Also uk still not downloading things properly, this is ridiculous. Played all day yesterday fine.

Same thing here. The downloader starts to patch and then quickly drops to zero kbs. Can’t even get to the log in part. Also in the UK and Virgin is my ISP.

Same here, also in the UK. I just downloaded the client again and it came in seconds. I run it, and it does the same old patching stuff and fails. I don’t believe they have broken it on the only day of ACT 4. It started with the restart last night and simply hasn’t gotten any better.

Yeah im on Virgin aswell… i don’t see how that can be the problem though tbh, but im no expert.
Any official response yet in any posts you guys have seen?

It would not be the first time that they have been the cause of problems in an online game. Virgin do not have the best love for MMO’s.. Take another very very popular MMO in which it solely came down to them.

The target IP address that it is talking to is 88.221.88.74:80, which appears to be in Cambridge, MA, USA – Akamai Technologies. I don’t know if the problem is on that particular server, or, if because they are pulling from port 80 they are somehow being traffic shaped by Virgin Media.

Same problem here. Game working fine till restart due to new client build. Then launcher gets stuck at between 46kb downloaded and 212kb downloaded. Download speed never goes above about 15kbs. My ISP is also virginmedia in the UK.

If it is Virgin then its only in some areas as a guildy in Wales is patching fine on Virgin. On Virgin forums there is an announcement about testing new traffic management in some areas.

I am continually stooping and restarting the launcher to see if it will work its way through the files one at a time .Anyone had success with this approach?

Yep i have and no joy, it only downloads a couple of hundred Kb/s every time so if your going down that route it could take forever. Its a shame that they just pushed this patch out then went to bed. You would think some of their support people would of been around to sort any subsequent issues.

Mine is patching fine now. Seems like Virgin got it sorted.

no change for me. Ran NC Soft game advisor and basically its just pure packet Loss to every US server location

Suddenly started to come in at 3Mb/sec. Someone at virgin must have noticed the unplugged cable….

Yeah, it is fixed for me now too. Only took up my whole play time for the morning trying to chase this issue.

If your using AVG turn it off.. I am using Virgin and tried a few things once i turned of AVG it kicked in.

Remember to turn it back on after.
