Well, sorry that your whole day is messed up over a game man. Try the workaround quoted above.

Gw2.exe -assetsrv 64.25.41.2

Try it guys.. Create shortcut and then add this -assetsrv 64.25.41.2 after the quote in the target..

Had to make a new shortcut to get it to work, but work it did. Don’t forget to add a space between the quote and the -assetsrv statement.

It’s not like the game is going anywhere, so just wait man. You can keep rushin’ em’ but it isn’t gonna change a thing, what’s important is that they’re aware of it and they’re trying to fix it.

Was disappointed to find I couldn’t get on and update but really kind of happy that it wasn’t my computer or internet playing up.

well I understand however I am still happy we have fast responses unlike so many mmos where they simply don’t care

For over 10 years Guild Wars has been the most stable MMO I have ever played. I’m sure they are working on it and it will be fixed soon. Thank you tech support! For keeping the game online so much, that when its gone just for a little bit, we panic.

I tried the shortcut with -assetsrv 64.25.41.2 but it says:
The game client was unable to connect to the log-in server. Please restart your client and try again. Please restart your client and try again. If the problem persists, contact Customer Support for assistance at http://support.guildwars2.com.

I’m using Windows 7 64-bit with the gw2-64.exe.

Instead of normal shortcut for launching use this assetsrv one for now it worked for me i am in the game.. Do not delete that shortcut for now or “maybe” you have to download the patch again..

-assetsrv 64.25.41.2 worked for me, but only on the 32 bit client (Gw2.exe), not the 64 bit (Gw2-64.exe). Try using the 32 bit client to create the shortcut if you have a 64 bit operating system. Was able to download patch, login, and get in game. Thanks for tip.

Edit: I also added Google DNS in my network config. This workaround only works for me with Google DNS active, was not able to login after I removed DNS.

I made the mistake of deleting the game to try to download it again, but I… can’t download it now…

You can bypass this with adding
-assetsrv 64.25.41.2 in your shortcut’s target section. Should look something like this:

“D:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe” -assetsrv 64.25.41.2

Edit: Nevermind, login server is also down.
