Can’t even stay logged in before everything lags then DC.
If you guys still having issue with the connection, try using VPN. It solved my issue with DC.
If you guys still having issue with the connection, try using VPN. It solved my issue with DC.
it works temporarily, but it is not convenient in the long run when you have other stuff downloading in the background that use up the VPN bandwidth allowed. ping is also higher.
other online games have proper routing and don’t need a VPN to have stable connection out of the box. Gw2 needs VPN to just not DC every 10 mins lately. why can other games not route through the Tier 3/Telia servers and why must NCsoft servers specifically route through there? there lies the probem.
what we hope is Anet to contact the networks involved to look into the issue, because Level 3 or Telia is the hop before reaching their NCsoft servers. our ISP is unable to solve the problem and we don’t have other choice of ISP. our report also carries little weight.

No no no. You got it wrong. It’s not ANET’s fault that your connection routing is going through some bad packet lost. It’s the fault of your ISP.

It could be either, or neither, that is at fault. There are way more than just your ISP, and ANet’s hosting provider, involved in how traffic crosses the Internet. It’s more like a regional network of trains, run by different companies…
Anet, are you ever going to admit that the problem is on your end? Are you ever going to acknowledge the problem? Are you ever going to at least tell us you are working on it? Do you care? Do you play your own game? Do you get disconnected?

You know that the problem actually isn’t on their end, right? It’s a network transit provider upstream from them.
It’s definitely possible that some-but-not-all ANet employees do get disconnected (and they definitely do play their game, just like we do) by this issue, but … since it isn’t their network that is busted, they are not able to just, y’know, flip a switch and fix it.
Anyone routed through the pain point in level3 suffers like this. Anyone who isn’t, like me, and an awful lot of other players, doesn’t.
It sucks that your traffic runs through a problem spot on the Internet, but … really, honestly, it’s not that ANet have a broken network.
I am going to bump this thread as I have just started receiving the error. But I have a small difference. I ONLY get it on the Blazeridge Steppes map. Every time I try to get near the area where the Shatterer appears I get disconnected with this error. This error does NOT happen to me on ANY OTHER MAP
PLEASE HELP!!!
Lots of people talking about this in Kryta today. The daily mini dungeon is inaccessible for many people who can get around just fine in other zones. Similarly, I can get in to some WVW Borderlands but not EBG.
No problem with any other aspect of the game – I Just can’t play in a couple of zones. Have been playing for years; this is new today – I was in EBG for hours all weekend.
Zones I’ve seen to be affected: Queensdale, EBG, Divinity’s Reach.
Wondering if those are on the same VM or something and it has a routing table problem that is affecting some ISPs or something.
This just started happening to me tonight while I was in one of the Alpine borderlands, I am unable to stay connected for longer than a minute then I am thrown to the character select screen with this error. I am fine in Lion’s Arch and Divinity’s Reach, the desert borderland seems to be fine too but I didn’t stay long, just long enough to know it wasn’t throwing me out. As soon as I load back into an Alpine map it sends me right back out with this error. Kind of annoying since no one else in my guild is having this issue at all.
Darkhaven
Happening to me too tonight.

I’m getting DC’ed all over the place, LA is the main one right now for me. But early today no matter what BL I cant seem to stay in for a few moments.
This is happening to me as well. I have tried creating a static ip and forwarding the port to unrestricted and reinstalling the game. Nothing. i’m good until I try to get into FOTM or silverwastes. With that, those are the only 2 places I go
I’m getting the same error messages… Help!?

Getting timeouts somewhere closer to ncsoft? I can’t even play, disconnects the second i join on that IP.
From what I’ve noticed, my characters in the newer zone maps cannot connect. BitterFrost and Bloodstone Fen on Piken Square.
When I attempt to connect to the newer zones I get the Connection Error for this thread.
Other Characters in older areas are able to connect and play without issue.
What I’m noticing is that certain maps are completely unplayable while others are completely fine. I noticed constant disconnects on maps all over the place from Fields of Ruin, Straits of Devastation, Lake Doric to the blue/red WvW borderlands and even the guild hall.
On “bad” maps, I will not disconnect at all if I stand in place. Spamming skills in place seems to be mostly okay. As soon as I walk in any direction, I get a few seconds of lag and then I get disconnected with the same error code as this thread. This suggests to me this is not a networking issue.
On “good” maps, it’s like any normal day and I can play indefinitely on there.
One interesting thing I did notice is that different IP’s of the same map don’t exhibit the same behavior. I was on IP 143 of Lake Doric and getting the constant d/c. Then I moved to IP 106 and all my problems went away. It seems like specific servers might be unstable while others are fine.
I am experiencing problems with certain maps also, atm I will be DC’ed when I am in Ember Bay/ DC’ed various Fracs instances/lobby.
Having chat-issues as well. That messages will not send, unless I send them twice.

Same issue as above in EBG I am consistently disconnected after about 5 seconds of moving off the waypoint. The other WVW maps are fine and no issues in other zones that I’ve tried. It’s just EBG.
Any workarounds in place?

None of my characters on any map can even walk at this point, my ping is fine as long as I don’t move but if I decide to walk it jumps up to 2k and kicks me. Is anet even going to acknowledge that something is wrong?
Edit: Just now realized how old this thread is. So what anet is doing is basically shuffling all complaints into this thread and ignoring them despite it very obviously being a problem on their end…. Probably losing a customer at this point.

Same here, losing connection to the game every few minutes. I login to a previous location as well. When I go back all is well until I approach the daily mini dungeon in QD. As soon as I cross a certain point from any direction, I’m DC’d.
Update: I moved to HoT maps and all is fine for the last 20 mins. I think the previous location has issues.

…and I’m sure they are: their sysadmins are probably talking to the helpdesk at level3, trying to get them to fix the problem, because it is hurting anet.
At the end of the day, though, other than ask nicely, what can they do — it’s not like they pay level3 for that transit, or else this would hit everyone equally. They don’t have a lot of leverage, any more than you or I would if we called level3 and asked about getting it fixed.
So… it’s a nasty situation, because it’s a third party unrelated to you, me, or anet, where the problem lives. Ever tried to get one of those fixed? It sucks.
Whatever was broken yesterday seems fixed today, at least for me.

I’m still wondering why ArenaNet didn’t make a post saying there were known issues and they were working to resolve, whether it was on their side or elsewhere.
A little communication goes a long way as far as Customer Service goes, and I bet they could have avoided a lot of service tickets as well as frustrated customers.

Problem still isn’t fixed, it was okay for a day or two but now it’s back and making it basically impossible to play.
Did a tracert on my connection, since I’m also having this issue for the last few days. I’ve done everything I possibly can on my end, from ensuring ports are forwarded, firewall is generous with GW2, cleared the local cache, repaired the client, even defragged the GW2 system folder as a last resort.
Every connection node is fine until the 6th or 7th hop, which occurs late down the order of network connections, which means this is an issue ANet can’t resolve by themselves. It’s an issue with a tier 1 network that ANet connects with.
EDIT: Okay, further investigating, it turns out my problem is with a range of addresses my ISP owns. So only advice I can give people is to check with your service provider.
(edited by Lyrebon.9715)
For the first time in years I had this error code (7:11:3:191:101) when trying to log-in with my EU account a couple of hours ago and it kept happening constantly for the past 2h, I’m logged in now but I’m still experiencing other issues.
I’m sure this error code, at least on my case, is related to my other issues that started with the Head of the Snake patch, posted with other players in this thread
I have continued to get logged out to character screen when playing in story mode, and always get code 7:11:3:191:101. This happens at lease 3-4 times each different instance I go in. I have tried submitting tickets, I went and bought an ethernet cord to get away from wifi, I have checked different possible solutions including disabling spywear. Nothing seems to work. I don’t know a lot about computers and don’t know how to set up a vpn, but I am getting fruatrated. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Okay, I may have alleviated some of my symptoms, though one of the NCSoft servers still seems suspicious.
I advice everyone with this error code (7:11:3:191:101), to download Pingplotter and check their connection with that.
Pretty simple to use: In Guild Wars itself, type /ip into chat, then type the IP it gives you into the “Enter target name or IP” bar in Pingplotter, and hit Enter. You’ll get a list of nodes that your connection “hops” across, starting with your home router at #1, then your IP address, your service provider’s network (which can be several nodes), then ANet’s and, finally, NCSoft’s.
If any of the red circles in the “latency” graph, to the right, are in the red, that’s where your problem is. Also, PL% is packet loss, or how much data isn’t reaching that particular node (resulting in lag and connectivity issues). If this is occurring at your router, node 1, then you need to open ports 80, 443 and 6112 in your router settings.
How to open ports. - Provides a list of routers for direct instructions.
What you want to do when you create port forwarding rules, is use the IP address assigned to your router. It might not be the same one you logged into your router with if your network settings specify a different address. To find it, open a command prompt, type “ipconfig /all”, without the parentheses, and look for IPv4 Address. That’s the one you want to use.
Been monitoring it through peak time for two hours now and no lag spikes, so it seems to have fixed my problems. I’m posting this in case it helps any one else. Might not, but worth a try.
(edited by Lyrebon.9715)
and yes every 2hours, exactly 8:43am and every two hours later 10:43→12:43 and so on error code, lost connection, dc

Hi, so pls tell me who has prob
I have some great news — for some values of great — for you: the problem is that packets are dropped on the link between your modem/router, and the first hop at your ISP.
This means that you need to call your ISP and work with them to fix your Internet connection, which is something they can do, and compared to “some random third party has problems” is blissfully solvable!
https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network has some good guidance to the whole process, but the executive summary is: packet loss hits 13 percent on the first hop past your gateway, and for every hop following that. This means that’s almost certainly the root cause.
So, yeah, this situation sucks, but it’s something that can be solved. Enjoy.
Ah welcome back beloved DC error! NOT “__” haven’t had this error for a couple years now. Latest patch, and now it’s constant. ANET fix your servers.

Ah welcome back beloved DC error! NOT “__” haven’t had this error for a couple years now. Latest patch, and now it’s constant. ANET fix your servers.
Given this is not universal, there is a chance that this is not caused by the ANet servers, but by something else getting in the way. https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network has a great guide for how to localise the problem spot.
You could also try overriding the clientport to 80 or 443, which can help bypass your ISP blocking traffic, or try out a VPN which can route around the problem in exchange for an increase in latency.
I’m having this error code every few minutes, on all my characters, and I tried dozens of maps.
Sometimes I can play for two minutes, then I have a long 5 second lag in which everything just stops (animations like walking continue), until it suddenly snaps back and is playable again. Most of the time these timefreezes last longer than 10 seconds, and throw me to the main menu with code 7:11:3:191:101.
Looks like it happens on NCsofts end to me, but I’m an amateur in this.
EDIT: I am also getting code=42:0:9001:4402:101 now, and while I had nice 20ms ping between the huge lag spikes before, I am now always between 350-500ms ping.
Also, sometimes problems happen before anet’s nodes now as well.

Yup, that shows packet loss inside the NCSoft part of the network — which is where anet servers for GW2 run. You should send that report in via the ticket system, and include the screenshot, when you talk to anet support.
They can work with you to gather any more information needed, and then work with ncsoft to identify the problem and get it resolved.
Hi guys, hope someone still reads this cause I’m having issue with 7:11:3:191:101, it happens once every few hours, unless I try to do living story, then it disconnects me after few minutes. I installed PingPlotter, run it and did some reading on problem solving, but to complete layman it’s very ingotum per ignotum, just a lot of three- and two-letter abrevitions to absorb and learn what they mean. I will get back to it tomorrow, cause I have a lot of additional reading, and note making to do, but if anyone could give me any tips how to resolve this issue I would be really grateful.

Getting this issue now as well after another fine day yesterday. Again, this is only happening on gw2 and nothing else. Getting really sick of not being able to do anything since the 18th April. That’s been 10 days! Utterly ridiculous.
As an update i have tried resetting the router, powercycling the router, everything you can think of, nothing has worked so anet. please sort this out. This is the best way to lose paying customers.
I am in Scotland, city and region is Dunfermline, Fife, EU server Ring of Fire, error code is 7:11:3:191:101, atm only 1 character with the problem (only one i tried) and i have the issue on every map in game. PvE, PvP, WvW, everything.

I’d get in touch with anet support, and include that image. I’m not sure if it’s telia or ncsoft servers where the packets fall off, but either way it’s something anet are best equipped to deal with.
I have been getting this problem (7:11:3:191:101) since I saw the BLTC down for maintenance. It affects all my characters and loses connection every 10 mins or so. Also get quite a lot of lag.
