Hi I’m running on:
CPU- Core 2 Duo 2GHz
GPU: GeForce 9600M GS
RAM: 4GB
OS: Windows 7 64bit

It would be good to start from a fact that before yesterday GW2 was running on my laptop around 9-13FPS while exploring. During bigger events frame rate could drop to even to 1 FPS. During that time I had sugested newest beta drivers for my GPU. I had enough of it and decided to overclock my GPU a little. So I downloaded custom DOX drivers and used Rivatuner to overclock my GPU. Frame rate jumped from9-13 to around 22-30 FPS. While starting a game it can even be above 40FPS for 1-2 minutes. Im not quite sure even if it was because of overclocking my GPU or because of yesterday update. However there was a little issue with that. After playing for a few minutes frame rate was droping again to around 15FPS. The only solution was to minimize game client for half a minute. I had this same problem before overclocking. Oh and one more thing. after todays patch I lost again few FPS and it has frame drops even faster (it shouldn’t be because of overclocking since temperature on my GPU is from 50-65C)

Hope this can help.

Sometimes GPU drop from 95% to 38% use on the 2 core. (Cpu never over 50%) (can see it on the first dongeon, just before the ranger boss)

Both cores are marked as used 95%, but turning off one does not change the perf.

Couldn’t be overclocking – for a boost like that your card would have caught fire in minutes.

Gotta be the version of the drivers or perhaps a feature/setting tweak?

My pc specs are the following:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53ghz
4gb RAM DDR2
AMD 6950 2gb

I play the game on 1920×1080 resolution, 12.8 drivers CAP 2 and Auto-detect settings and i am experiencing very low fps (15-20). In overcrowded areas fps drops significantly and in large fights it even drops at 6fps. Lowering resolution or graphics does not affect performance. Please also find attached the dxdiag as you requested. I am really hoping for a fix for this.

If you are experiencing low FPS or FPS drops, please post in this thread with your system specs and driver version. If you have a dxdiag, please attach it to this thread by using the “more posting and formatting options” button.

MS Windows 7 64 bit
Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz

GTX550Ti with the beta drivers suggested.

I never had an issue until last night. Not sure what FPS I was getting but it was running just fine in highly populated areas. Now I get 4-9FPS anywhere no matter what I do. Full screen, not full screen etc. Low or high settings it’s the same thing. My internet connection is just fine. Again, never experienced this issue since launch. What’s going on here?

I guess its an driver issue.
I really hope nvidia comes fast with an good official (GW2) driver.
However i can’t find any news about an new upcoming driver on the net. I hope it won’t take months XD.

Playing the game at medium/high settings
Everything on high except shadows, reflections, LOD, shaders and post-processsing.

PvE: In nearly all zones solid 60fps (heavely populated zones 50-60fps)
Structured PVP: Solid 60fps
WvW: Every battle that consists out of more than 6 people makes my framerate drop to 30fps (CPU usage @ 50%) it rarely dips below 30fps (even in big fights), changing settings does not yield increased framerate. I suspect it’s not GPU/CPU related (both are not at maximum capacity), panning the camera to the ground/zooming in does not increase framerate (one should suspect it to if it was GPU related).

GW2 is on the SSD.
Guess what, the FPS is very low. Using one or two GPUs makes little to no difference.

At max i get 50 – 60FPS using both cards in SLI, in WvW it can drop below 30FPS with both cards in SLI.

CPU usage is far from 100% when ingame
same with the GPUs.

I can’t tell wether the nvnidia drivers or the GW2 graphic engine or both are the issue…

I’m very dissappointed so far with the perfomance of GW2.

I’m using the lates nvidia 306.02 Beta Driver.
Ingame settings everything set to max, everything… Supersampling also.
Resolution 1920×1200

Playing arround with settings doesn’t really help much, and to be honest, i don’t see why i should have to set something down with the machine i have…

BF3 runs absolutely fantastic with everything on ultra/max settings.

There is only so much “optimization” the dev team can do to make older architecture compatible with this game. Have you tried overclocking your CPU some to see if that helps?

Also, is there any way you can post a screen shot of task manager? I would like to see what your CPU usage is like.

Guild Wars 2 is an awesome game, probably the best MMO ever created thus far, but
when it comes to optimization and the performance on mid to highend PC’s it’s pretty disappointing to say the least.

I play on max settings with shadows turn to medium and reflections on sky and terrain to squeeze as much performance as I can and get around 45-70 most of the time and it goes as high as 80+ on certain locations where there’s not much going on but can go as low as 20-25fps on massive DE’s. I run other games that are more demanding on the system and get better and more consistent frames than this such as BF3 and Skyrim all on ultra. Most of the time my graphics card doesn’t even go pass 55% usage.

I hope ArenaNet will fix this issue because to me the minimum and recommended system requirements that they boast is false, unless you want to play the game with less than 20 fps. I feel sorry for those that look at the requirements thinking they have the hardware to run it fine.

I have faith in you ArenaNet and hopefully you get this fixed soon so we all can enjoy this beautiful game the way it was meant to be.

Hi everyone enjoying the game so far but there are issues,

During open world frames are pretty stable between 75fps on low with v-sync on refresh rate @ 75hz playing at an amazing low 768×1024 in hopes of better performance with no change.

It would seem that some areas of the game just induce low fps even if nothing is really happening on screen where as other areas can be slightly crowed and still have a decent frame rate.

In dungeons the game is almost unplayble due to fps drop/ network lag sometimes its hard to tell, specs below

Some system info:
OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1
CPU: Intel i5 3570K
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti
Graphic driver: 306.02 Certified (only for 660 Ti)

GW2 graphic settings: All set to maximum value apart from “render sample: native”, “shadows: high”, “LOD distance: high”. V-sync enabled.
Nvidia 3D Settings: All set to maximum quality, “application-controlled” where possible.

Ok, let’s come to the issue.
After installing latest drivers I solved many problems caused be render sampling setted to “native” (transparent objects and FPS drops).
But now a new problem has come. If I open the World Map and zoom in or out, my FPS drops to around 3 and it becomes impossible to use. FPS drop only when zooming the map or moving it fast. When I stop moving or zooming, FPS go back to 60 (note: V-sync enabled).

Screenshots:
First: GW2 settings
Second and third: Nvidia settings
Fourth: FPS on World Map while standing still
Fifith: FPS on World Map while zooming in/out

Side note: After re-installing GW2 and Nvidia drivers the “map problem” didn’t appear BUT it happened after today’s update. I also defragmented the partition where GW2 is installed. Now I’m wondering if any update or any defragmentation may cause this issue.

EDIT: Added DxDiag report.

It seems like the problem got fixed with today’s update. I don’t know if it was fixed by the update or for another reason. Currently the map is working perfectly.

Same/similar issue for me.
64 bit OS playing from a very high end laptop… all my video setting are set low and I had no problems after I sorted out a video card issue I had during the first Beta weekend. (I’m at the moment not on the computer I play on currently – so can’t recall the video card)

Here is what is repeatably happening.
When there are a lot of people in a small area, the computer freezes (both sound and video seem to get stuck) and I loose keyboard control.
When I press control alt delete many times and wait for a few seconds (rather then hard restarting… which is tempting) I will eventually get my windows task manager screen to pop up. Just that seems to unstick the system but recently (over the last two days) this has caused my connection to the login server to be dropped and I get an error message (the next time I play I’ll post the error log and screen shot… but I suspect it’s the same issue as the folks above).

A related issue (maybe… or at least I think it’s related) is that sometimes my keyboard just quits allowing me to enter text in the chat window or move anything on any smaller windows (like inventory items or buy stuff) but it will let me keep playing an moving in the main window. This symptom often preceeds the crash even by anywhere from a couple minutes to an hour.

If I log out and log back in the problem clears until it starts again.
Like I said the issue seems to increase in frequency during times when more people are in an area.

Another possible related issue (though maybe not) when I am dead and try to move to a waystation (or sometimes when I am not dead). Clicking on the ‘travel’ button will cause the location of the waystation to post in my chat window… sometime it will cause multiple posts and get a you have been banned from chat message to show up. It will not take me to the waystation in question, and if I wait for some kind soul to revive me when I come back my keyboard will not type in the chat window (as per above)… and I do like to say thanks when healed…. and inevitably end up having to ctrl-alt-delete to regain access to my keyboard in the chat control (causing me to disconnect) or play until the game crashes and I have to ctrl-alt-delete or hard shut down (again causing a disconnect).

I will post log and other such attachments next time it happens.

For those of you that are crashing, what is the size of memory that GW2 is using when it crashes? You can view this if you can ctrl +alt + delete out of the game when it locks up. If it is above 1.5g then you might be experiencing an issue with Windows. Windows by default, I believe, only allows applications to use up 1.5g of memory. You can override this though. Here is a link to show you how to do this:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9583842&linkID=9240697

I had an issue that was causing me to crash intermittently and usually when I entered WvW or crowded places. Sometimes the crash would give me an error stating that the memory could not be written a specific address. Other times I had to kill the GW2 process in task manager. After I enabled Windows to allow programs to use more than 1.5g I have not had a single crash. I have played WvW for several hours and run all around LA. Good luck. Here are my specs.

AMD 965 B.E. stock speed.
ATI 4890
4GB Ram
Windows 7 32-bit

You are referring to a solution on a 32-bit platform. This issue is affecting both 32 and 64 bit systems.

As I attempted to create this poste earlier, I had the GW2 launcher in the background. It had completed it’s updates. As I was still typing, my system froze as if I was in the game. Screen locks up and I can hear buzzing in my speakers. This seems to be an issue with the GW2.exe or some process GW2 is running. I had my system powered on all day while at work, and I go to update GW2 and my system crashes the exact same was as if I was playing it? I can run Skyrim on max settings with HD content downloaded and not even have a glitch. This is almost to the point of quiting the game all together as I have no idea how much damage 5+ hard shutdowns a day are having on my system.

Thanks so much for the reports everyone! Just know that we haven’t forgotten about you all and we’re still looking into this issue. One thing I would like to note, however, is of the many causes for low performance for players with high end graphics cards is that their PCi-Express GPU is plugged into a 1x|4x slot rather than a 16x slot. For players who have recently upgraded their video cards, we recommend ensuring that the GPU is plugged into the proper PCi-Express slot for maximum performance.

Well… if compared with another people with close builds it seems I lag behind in fps, they claim to run at 60fps everywhere and everytime…

My system:
Core2 Quad q8400 @ 2.66ghz
4gb ram (3gb usable by the system), 667mhz dual channel
Windows 7 32bits
Asus p5b motherboard
Nvidia gtx 560ti, at 950mhz by manufacturer (MSI gtx 560ti hawk)
304 beta drivers (installed since in a post you talked about the 301 having poor performance, but thinking to revert to another WHQL version since there is no noticeable improvement nor detriment)
running the game at 1920×1200, everything medium or high, even ultra

Symptoms:
While I can find myself running as high as 45-50 fps, I typically get around 25-40, with several zones where it is dropped to 10-15 (e.g. the pale tree), as people says already several times, turning around will also have a significative impact until I get static again.

My thoughts:
Well, I can play with the resolution and the settings however I want, but between the highest and the lowest settings there is a margin of only 5-10 fps, moreover lowering the resolution will not improve it either. For me this means that the graphic card is more than enough to handle the game, if something, setting the reflections to “everything” may take a hit in there.

Talking to people with similar systems and playing in full hd resolutions (well, I know I’m using more than full hd but as I said resolution will not improve performance), I wonder if my “old and slow” memory will make the difference here.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
Ram: 4096MB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460, 1GB, Manufacturer overclocked
Driver version: 306.02

I am using the recommended settings (mostly high) but reduced the shadow quality from high to medium at 1600×900 resolution. Sometimes my frame rate is around 60, which is the limit I set, sometimes it drops to around 30 by just standing near a structure, such as tall gates or houses and sometimes my frame rate drops even further to 11 frames per second (WvW and PvE Events, especially when bosses are involved).

Usually there is NO difference at all between recommended settings and best performance for me, in this game.

The game is really great by the way, I hope this can be figured out quickly.

Ok. Now this is weird. I decided to fire up my old laptop and install the game on it. It did surprisingly well compared to my desktop. Ran a steady 30-40 fps on the lowest settings with only a few times dipping down into the mid 20s. I can really tell the difference between the 2. Desktop gets less FPS on lowest settings with a heck of a lot more power. I checked and made sure my card was in the correct slot so the problem doesn’t lie there. Maybe this will help shine some light on the issue?

I’ve included the dxdiag for my laptop below.

The fix for the colored screen/stuck sound system crash is to downclock your graphics card by 10-20%. That will stop the crashing. (This crash has been around since closed beta and is believed to be an nVidia issue which may or may not be fixed in a future driver update. ANet has been almost completely silent on the issue.)

Not the case over here, but I love things like this, makes me think something is actually being done. Please, fire more of these posts out.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor 2.80 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT
RAM: 6 GB
Graphic driver: 306.02 Certified

Was running at anywhere between 15-30 fps depending on what I was doing, now I’ve dropped down to 1-3 fps. All settings are on the lowest and performance remains the same.
