Ok this is going to sound absolutely crazy, I hardly believe it myself, but I get really insane unplayable lag as soon as I join a game (tournament or hot-join) sometimes even in the mists on specific characters, yet on a couple of my characters there is no lag at all…

I thought it was just a co-incidence but when I switch from a character that lags the moment I load into hot join (sometimes disconnect or have an extended load time) to a character that receives no lag for over 5 minutes 7-8 times in a row its kind of hard to see a coincidence.

I have a couple characters that do not lag (Kouryuu N and Kouryuu Midge) that are old characters the first being created just after release, the second is 3months old. The characters that lag are newer than that (Kouryuu Necromidge, Kouryuu Midgeteer, Kouryuu Midgetess, Kouryuu Midgetmental), its the only thing I can say about the difference in the characters. I have gone from characters that lag and characters that dont lag many many times (over 10 times) and its night and day the lag…

I really dont understand it. This has been happening for the last 4-5 days and I just assumed it was bad days/my internet but mumble is fine and my internet can only handle 720p streams on a good day which it has been fine at least today, speedtests showed near perfect speeds each time. I also opened ports yesterday. It’s just specific characters…

Just now I spent 10minutes playing hot join with my ele (Kouryuu Midge) absolutely no lag, switched to my engi (Kouryuu Midgetess) and completely unplayable lag…

What the hell? Any idea’s?

Has there been any sort of response to any of these lag threads yet?

Same issue for me, since start of april patch after playing since release.

But i think its just random not character based. example i did 3 pvp matches other day on same char and 2 of them were 10sec+ lag spikey unplayable. People complaining of map chat about me warping around. Yet when i returned to mists its perfect and 1 of the pvp matches perfect.

I got same issue with dungeons doing cof runs. sometimes im totally lagged out and cant do anything which lasts until the end of run then next run it can be fine.

This started since sab patch and my connection isnt being used on anything else.

Hmm interesting Sazgo, I’ll do some testing of my chars tonight and report back here whether its the same characters or different ones.

EDIT: Same characters lag today and same characters dont lag. I’m just glad my main doesnt lag heh. Although I was in the middle of learning engi :/.

I assume someone would have posted somewhere if a discovery had been made, but (optimistically) does anyone know of a solution or a workaround for this?

My best friend has whatever-this-thing-is extremely bad on his main, and it’s ruining the game for him.
Understandable since it’s barely a step above logging in to find his main erased – that would be more upsetting of course, but at least it would be over where-as with this fault he’s stuck in a constant cycle of hoping & being disappointed every single day.

Given past experience, it’s safe to predict that Tuesday’s patch will concentrate most the game’s population in one location (the new dungeon), and probably make any performance issues 10 times worse (hopefully not for the whole month!).
Are there any fresh ideas for tackling this before that happens?
If he just gives up GW2 then I’ll certainly be an unhappy camper too.

We’ve already tried the standard repair, diagnostic thing, deleting local.dat etc.
As with other posters, performance was fine a few weeks ago and internet/everything else works fine even while GW2 is frozen.

He can play alts and SAB (for 3 more days), but like me his alts are L30 at most – 20 of which were crafting – so he’s not going to buy into me suggesting we slog through 50 lootless levels with characters we’re not invested in, hoping the same thing doesn’t just happen again afterwards…

Yeah I have this too, i was doing CoF with my warrior and had 30 secs of lag, making it completely unplayable. I then relogged onto my necromancer and joined the same dungeon with the same people (who had stayed in the instance to keep it open) and I had zero lag… so annoying I cant risk doing dungeons with my warrior because of it. All my other characters are fine all the time. Please fix this Anet its so annoying

I too am having problems with lag. Used to play fine for me but recently lag has regularly made this game unplayable for me.

Im off to download Neverwinter. :-/ (gimme a shout if the lag improves)

im having a load of lagg problems also, problem with mine is..its only on one of my characters, and annoyingly enough its my main, none of my 7 other characters lagg, just this one, and its a wierd lagg cus all my skills / talking to npc’s is delayed, but i can use the chat fine, and receive messages via any of the chat channels, is their any fix out there for this kinda thing yet?

I’ve had this problem on one character for at least 6 months, its totally bizarre you can log into a WvW map on it and can wait 30secs + for a skill activation, yet f12 and relog into the same map with another character and everything is hunky dory. More interestingly since this has started to happen it comes and goes, there was a period of a month or so where everything was fine. The same thing is happening on a second character as well but is intermittent, one day I can be in a 30vs30 fight and there are no lag problems at all the next day I will get hung up on a loading screen while trying to enter WvW.
