I received a message back about my ticket that I submitted at 1am regarding my account being locked for gem purchases. That reply was received at 6am this morning. The reply said that someone would be getting with me shortly. It is now currently 5pm. Apparently my version of shortly and yours are two worlds apart, or maybe just 12 time zones who knows. I tried calling the support center for Ncsoft a few minutes ago and got a hold of a guy named Chris that told me he couldn’t do anything for me and that they would be getting to my ticket shortly. -__- I had this problem previously fixed over the phone and it took maybe 2 minutes. Theory goes that you could fix it again. PLEASE fix this or I will be taking my money elsewhere.

For a Christmas present I am going to buy 40 dollars worth of gems and convert to gold to give my 2 buddies who I know in real life. I was planning on mailing them the gold. But I don’t want to look like some kind of gold seller, this is purely a gift to them since I recently got a new job that pays really well for a recent college grad.

Just want to make sure there isn’t any issue with this, thanks.

I would strongly suggest buying gem cards from a retailer in your area, and giving those to your friends instead. That is a much safer way to give someone a gift than mailing gold, especially since we would not be able to help you if something went wrong (if you accidentally sent the gold to the wrong player, for example).

Issue
The Gem store will not allow me to “Confirm” or “Proceed to Paypal” to purchase gems on the game. The last button to send the payment or proceed to paypal is greyed out.

Attempt to get resolution
I tried the “tabbing” method and also tried each gem set to purchase. None which worked. After frustrating attempts to get answered from support, I was finally told this is a known issue and when a resolution’s available it would be posted on the website; also they recommended to go to a store and buy gem cards… So the answer for me remains unanswered.

Conclusion

I would hope to see this issues pushed up the ranks at ArenaNet so others and myself can purchase gems again. With Wintersday right around the corner, not being able to purchase gems will be a real downer for me. How can I be festive! Having the NCsoft site set up to issue Gems would be secondary option however, this feature is not available. I also want to add that having different support members on every answer is not efficient and creates confusion to both parties.

I’m extremely dissatisfied with your customer service. Instead of actually reading my support request they keep “escalating” my issue and asking me the same questions over and over again, not even noticing that I’ve already answered each and every one of them in my previous e-mails. My issue is still not resolved after a number of useless e-mails from a number of your support agents that not only failed to resolve the issue, they failed to address it. Would you please ask an actual person that can read and understand English and has the required IQ to follow up on [Incident: 121206-000698] and resolve it for once?

Also, why would your support agent ask me what browser did I use to purchase the gems? After thorough browsing of your website I have yet to find a way to purchase them from it, so it’s either me being unable to find where to do so, or your agents not being aware that the gems are purchased from the game client…

I recently bought a Total makeover kit and TP took 350 gems from me but i didn’t receive the item.

I have bought something ingame for real money, and then this should work or i want my money back. i know it isn’t much money but if this happens to everyone it will be alot of money that goes to waste for us players.

Im a new player in gw 2 and i wanted to buy some gems because there was really cool stuff in black lion trading.When i wanted to buy some gems i choosed the amount of gems and entered all the details (billing, credit card etc.) and when i finally clicked confirm it send me back to billing informations screen.I tried a lot of times but nothing changed.I tried relogging and stuff .Please help :/

For those of you who purchased and did not seem to receive your item, I’ve found that it is sometimes helpful to remove all mails from your mailbox (claiming/retrieving all valuable items from the mails first, of course). Somehow, completely clearing the mailbox can help. The free upgrade to digital deluxe finally sold my brother on the game. Only one problem, your store is broken.

It let him fill out the purchase forms, but told him at the end that his credit card authorization failed. He called his bank, and they did refuse the charge because they suspected fraud. He told them to allow the purchase, they said they would, and told him to try again. He tried again, authorization failed. He still had his credit card folks on the phone at the time, and they said it must be on Arenanet’s end.

I tried ordering for him, using his email and my card. Authorization failed.

He set up Paypal to try buying the game that way. There was a problem authorizing your request. Please contact support.

After an hour or so of trying to give you his money, he gave up and left.

What gives? He doesn’t want to go buy a physical copy, as he’d miss out on the promotion that finally convinced him to try the game in the first place. I guess I see his point. I’m sure he’s not the only customer you’ve lost….

Now the conversation is:

Me: No, it’s a really good game.
Him: If they can’t even manage to process a payment, how good could it be?
Me: I never had a single problem.
Him: Maybe they just don’t want my business.
Me: Um… Well… It really is a good game…

Having work in the banking industry with Risk Management, I think I may see where the problem might be. If your bank blocked the transaction due to their internal policies related to fraud, that will trigger a code on Anet’s merchant end too. When that happens, Anet might have flagged that creditcard automatically, and completely blocked the transaction. Add to that he tried multiple times which resulted in a failure each time, so that’s more red flags. But I’m not sure which company they use to process the transactions, so I’m just going off of a guess mind you.

As for PayPal, the transaction goes through PayPal’s system first, then the money is transferred to Anet. If it was blocked there, chances are it’s being stopped on PayPal’s end first.

So I tried buying the primeval set of skins for 500 gems on the ferguson’s crossing server at 8am eastern time and it wasn’t sent to me. I only have one email, and i use it for my gw2 account. alright what is this nonsense? Now i cant use my credit card either. Shouldnt you be happy people are actually purchasing from the gem store, instead of adding some kind of ridicilous “cap”, or am i missing something?? it says im supposed to talk to customer support? where exactly? i love this game and i think arenanet is great, but this is really irritating. i keep getting a message saying it failed, and sometimes a different one saying i need to confirm my identity.

I am an older person who can afford to ….please stop blocking my card(s)..please this is very annoying now and too long to respond. If you want to verify just send an e-mail and as is this you. You don’t give a accident number when you do this. There must be a better way to prevent problems of thief here than your doing now. Please allow my access back like today please and thank you. Here’s a suggestion that worked for another player:

What is happening is that the “next” button on the final screen does not get enabled after filling out their billing information. What seems to be happening is the form does not recognize that the customer has entered all the information into the form and in turn, they cannot complete their purchase. If the customer simply “tabs out” of that last field (for the card’s expiration date), they are able to click next and confirm the purchase on the following page.

Hi I’ve been trying to purchase 1600 Gems for the past 2 days from the gem store I’ve used this card before to buy gems and I know the money is in there. I keep getting the “Card Approval Failed” message after I put the Information in and confirm the purchase.

due to the the recent wintersdays events i have been buying gems from the gem store but until recently when i have attempted to buy more gems i am unable to make purchases as it says my card failed i know i have money in my account for it and i had made a purchase 15 mins before the first occurrence of this problem so i don’t know whats going on and how to resolve this as the message tells me that i need to authenticate my identity i have no means or know of any way how ive been all over the support page and regular site looking for some way to resolve this

It would appear I’m not the only one having this problem. I decided to indulge in buying a second GW2 account with the $35 off sale to play with a friend who couldn’t join the world I was on with my main.

Since then, I have been unable to buy gems from the store on this second account, due to the continue buttons being grayed out, no matter how many ways I try it. I was hoping to set myself up for a good long while by purchasing three bundles of 4000 gems, and soon, because I’m irritated with the lack of inventory and bank space. The extra character slot would be nice, too.

If there’s anything I can do to circumvent this, or whether a mod can get to me with a definitive answer on the next step, I’d be deeply appreciative.

UPDATE: After randomly deciding to try what I tried before once more, I managed a breakthrough. Not sure how.

After adding my credit card and adding all the details required, selecting the bundle I want, and ‘next-ing’ to the confirm page, I went back to the details page, changed the quantity I wanted, then went back to the confirm page. Somehow, I got the information I wanted, and the option to order that bundle was available. I went back and changed quantities back to 4000, went back to confirm, and I was able to order that bundle, after too much hassle.

After ordering that bundle, I did receive an error code, but when I went back into the gem store, I saw my purchase sitting right there in my gem pool. I’ll keep an eye out to see if I actually got charged, but this is interesting. I don’t know if it’ll help anyone else, but I’m sure glad it helped me.

… now to get that increased space.

UPDATE #2: After encountering this bug, I’ve been able to go ahead and buy the three bundles of 4000 that I’d initially intended with no problems whatsoever. I sure hope this helps everyone else with this problem.
