Crawford I5 2500K has no problem utilizing GTX 690, there is not much improvement even using I7 Ivybridge with GTX 690 over I5 2500K when gaming go check out the benchmarks. Plus it’s custom build underwater PC so i don’t know what you are talking about.

Also just to add about GW2 FPS it looks like a lot of FPS drops are caused by fog effects, at least for me there is something that is causing massive FPS drops when fog effects appear but if i alt tab and alt tab back in the game FPS returns to normal maybe it’s just a bug.

Sorry to quote this, but I am pretty much certain thatt fog effects have HUGE impact on FPS drops, whenever there is a fog effect and I zoom in really close my FPS can drop to 20 really easy, once its gone I am again at steady 60+. I have old GTX 460 1GB with i5 2400.

For example in Char area i have very bad FPS because of the fog in the area it must be a bug or something. Also in PVP when there is lots of explosions and smoke FPS drops very low again. It’s not normal and i hope developers look into this issue.

Are you using a 16x PCI slot? You would be surprised how many people use a 4x slot or having their BIOS/software power saving option that limits 16x down to 1×.

I’m sorry you feel that way Freetobe.

I just feel that Ive worked on enough computers in my lifetime to realize that 90% of the time its something on the user end, not the program.

Your graphics are either turned up higher then your hardware can support, you’ve got driver conflicts, a virus, virus scanner is slowing performance, OR it is possible that the 690GTX just has issues with the game. That isnt Anets fault, thats your hardware vendor’s fault.

With games like this, most of the time it is game bugs. Most of the bad performance reports came after a few initial patch sets that lowered performance. The end users didn’t cause that.

This game ran very fast on my 690 GPU based system on launch week, and dropped a lot in performance after the first few patches.

Likewise the 25 September patches introduced UI, animation, and NPC bugs. We (the users) can’t even do this if we wanted to.

Those are all game bugs, not end user issues.

On my 690 GPU system, fog seems to cause absolutely no change.

It did slow down my older graphics card.

What i am getting is 35-55 fps (depends where) 1080×1920 (full/ultra settings, evertyhing on high and on)
my machine is 5 years old… i do have to say that fps drops mostly in high populated fight scenes where also many skill effects are being processed at once.
this hints that it might be a CPU issue and GPU.
i also have an older HD4870 with AMD Phenom II BE560 Quad Core (2 unlocked cores) and i get more or less the same fps on that one. (though the game visually looks better on the 6870)
both cpus are more or less equal, the AMD system should have been faster due to DDR3 advantage. but in fact type of and RAM has no effect on this game.

and by the way. imho anything above constant 25 fps is playable. and i am not sure the eye can even notice the difference between 60 fps to 80 fps.
Problems start to be visible and annoying when the fps drop to under 24
(which is also the amount of frames the human eye is used to watch movies at)

Q6600@3.4 Ghz
8GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM (OCZ)
Sapphire HD6870 1GB GDDR5
+
AMD PHENOM II BE560 X4
4 GB DDR3 1600mhz (G.Skill) DDR3 1333
Palit HD4870 1GB GDDR5

So if i got two 590’s I would not be able to run over 120fps all the time?

Well two 590s should give you ultimate premium FPS performance of hell.

Tried 306.63 on my GTX690 and could not notice any significant performance increase at all.

[e1:] Same for 306.97.

[e2:] Same for 310.33.

Having the same issue. In WvW I am over 100 FPS, but in Lions Arch I can only get good frame rates if I don’t pan the camera. Will fall from 75 FPS to under 20 stutteringthe whole way.

80 Elementalist (RotV), 80 Mesmer (RotV)
80 Necromancer (IRNY), 80 Guardian (IRNY)
GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.
