Since the patch introducing the Lost Shores, my game is experiencing serious crash/game client freeze too. About every 25-30 minutes actually.

Hardware’s fine, Windows 7 x64, latest drivers for everything. Game’s run fine since the first beta weekend, but about three weeks ago, I’ve started to get intermittent crashes.

At some random point after a few minutes to hours of playing the game will freeze with one or more looping sounds (seemingly more often while accessing either the map or the inventory).

Same problem as this user and its from few patches ago as well ( had this prob at start then after a patch i was fixed and from few patches ago its here again)
Sometimes the game will pop up an error report dialog. Other times it requires me to alt-tab and use the task manager to close things down.

Either way, not fun.

Can’t log in at all. Any loading screen results in an error and crash.

My char is in HoM and can’t access it. The game crashes without completing the loading sequence.

deleting local.dat seems to clear up this problem

Okay so its 3 days since this patch rolled in.
Theres still NO SINGLE WORD from any mod about this?

No, this is enough. I don’t want this anymore.

First this patch, now the 0-care situation about people having problems after the patch.

Same issue, game randomly freezes and stops responding. Sometimes it occurs within seconds of loading a character, other times I can play for about 20 minutes then the screen will just freeze and I’ll be asked to send an error report. Only started occurring after the lost shores update.

after deleting my LOCAL.DAT, it seems fine.. i’m able to acces character selection screen, and enter tyria using one of my character..

anyone who encounter problem as mine, you can try to delete your LOCAL.DAT, or in my case it was LOCAL (video cd movie file)
and then run the launcher, get some patch, and try play again..

Deleting Local.dat didn’t seem to do anything, nor did the possible solution linked above.

Same to me… after deleting local.dat I had to try to remember my password again, as it’s stored in there (maybe)…
But after getting past this, the game crashes like before: Right after clicking “play” at the infos screen, the char-selection should pop up. But no, the window goes black, I hear the music faintly, and the error-report-sender pops up ;((

This started happening to me this afternoon, ran fine this morning, a few things changed, mini-map is now in bottom right and when i created character i would always be wearing the same thing, now I’ve got different armor on, hope they fix.

Same thing going on with the black box, can’t launch the game. Yesterday deleting the local.dat solved the problem, I could log in for a few hours, today it doesn’t work anymore. Needless to say, I could play with no problem before the last patch since last December… and no, I did not change a thing on my PC.

Im giving up,still unable to play for longer then 10m before it happens.Weird thing is i have a 2nd pc here with low end hardware,thats working perfectly fine…same connection,im getting clueless here because i didnt change a thing to my pc since last night.

Edit:

After a long night..i think i found the culprit.Windows update KB2823324 and the “Fix” update they brought out soon after KB2840149.

I knew the first one was faulty and giving other windows related errors like
giving fatal system errors and disabling the activation of KasperkyLabs,but i did not know the 2nd one gave problems aswell.After some searching around ive uninstalled KB2840149 and Guild wars is for now working like it should.

Also want to mention that the 2nd pc i was talking about earlier,did not even had those updates installed yet,At all.Thats why it was still working perfectly fine.

I advice everyone to Uninstall the above mentioned updates,they are faulty and might be giving more problems then the one’s mentioned by Microsoft,google it.

To unininstall Windows updates.

Control Panel > Programs and Features > View Installed updates.

Now look for KB2823324 and KB2840149 , Uninstall them both.

“Whenever you update windows again it will find KB2840149 again.When that happens rightclick on the update and click on hide so it wont show up again for downloading.”

For this this recent Patch Tuesday Microsoft issued a Windows Update for Windows 7, security update 2823324, that “addresses a moderate-level vulnerability that requires an attacker to have physical computer access to exploit”. Now Microsoft is telling users to uninstall this security update because it is causing “system errors” for some users.

Microsoft has not specified exactly what “system errors” are being caused by this update but they have said it is because of conflict with “certain third-party software” and the errors do not cause loss of data. According to third-party reports, the update is causing more than errors — some computers are unable to boot because of it.

Although Microsoft says not all users are affected by this issue, they are recommending everyone that installed update 2823324 to uninstall it.

Still having trouble here. I tried to delete the local.dat, it worked for a few days, now it doesn’t work anymore. Whenever I hit the play button, the black screen shows up and thats it. I need ctrl+alt+del to shut it down. I tried the shortcut-repair thing too, did not work
Now I sent in a ticket, eagerly waiting for a response.
