Game freeze on log-out
I have this same problem as well since the newest update (and never before that). So far, I’ve played the game twice since the update and both times the game froze on log out. Then I’d have to do a hard restart. I have a 2011 13" Macbook Pro.
This happened to me the first time I played the game after the Jan 28 patch.
Has not happened since the inevitable reboot, however.
2012 15" MBPro
I have not had this happen since the two minor updates. Maybe it’s fixed? Will report back if it happens again.
This is happening to me as well, 2009 17" MBPro. It was not happening before the Jan 28 patch and now is. I have a work around though. I have tried logging out to the character select screen and then from there logging out to the launcher and quiting. it is tedious but at least it does not require a hard reboot.

Yea mine has been doing that too Everytime. It is probably a Mac thing since us five all have macs -_- I wonder who we should contact
Same problem as mine, 13-inch, Late 2011 , forcing myself to use power button to restart my mac. It’s hurt
Same problem as above. Never before the newest patch — only way I can get out is powering off via the power button.
Hey all, I know this is the mac beta forum section, but after browsing a bit more (although finding no fixes), did read that it helps the developers if you put your computer information for them helps on seeing what might be causing the problem. I didn’t have any problems yesterday logging out, but maybe one of the patches fixed this? or it’s based of a time frame of playing the game?
I have the same problem. When logging out, as in closing the game client, it freezes leaving me to force close the program.
I have 2011 imac, so yeah. A new patch to fix this would be so nice!
+1, I also have this problem upon logout. Early 2011 MBP.
Have the same problem on my MBP since the last update (28 Jan). The only way out is to restart my mac. I was hoping that Anet will fix it all, but the problem is still up. And yes, early 2011 MBP.

Issues is still taking place. I figure that Anet is working on this.
Thanks for all the hard work that you have put into the game as a whole, and hope that you continue to work on the Mac side of things, so that even more people can enjoy this wonderful game.
I am experiencing this issue of game freeze when choosing “Exit” or “Logout” from Options some of the times..nothing consistent however to pinpoint the cause of the problem. What I can say though is that it seems to me that freezes started after Jan 28 patch.
I found interesting entry of a “crash” in the ArenaNet.log file that seems was recorded around the same time when the game client froze. Upon running -repair on the Mac client (via CiderSettings.cfg), the VerifyResults.log had interesting info about some files failing CRC check. Please see attached.
You can find your log files in:
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2

Can you give more detail info on how to run the -repair so us that are less Mac savy can run this and also post our logs so that we might help Anet discover/fix this problem?

It freezes on my Macbook 2008, 13" model and have to manually restart.
Macbook Pro Oct 2011, 17" model and have no problems with exiting the game.

No problem, just getting back to checking the post myself, and won’t be able to get to going through getting the files for a couple days.

I am also experiencing this issue. I play on an iMac and a Macbook, so far I have only had a freezing occur on the iMac. It occurred when I was at the character selection screen and hit the “log out” button. I normally select “Exit” from the in-game menu which so far has not given me any problems.
Same problem here, playing on my iMac. Started when I tried to close it from the “cross” button, then did as well via the menu.
First times I had to reboot my mac using the button, it seems funny
Hey guys, I was having the same problem. I now MINIMIZE it, and then close it from the Mac environment by Right clicking on it on the dock and hitting close.
Doesn’t freeze but don’t know how great it is for the game. Has to be better than having a full system freeze….

Just wanted to provide an update. Since the latest patch, I am no longer experiencing this issue.
