I am having the same issue and this is mainly happening in WvW.

I tried -repair and deleted the gw2.dat. Both did not resolve the issue.

I also tried running the program as administrator and/or assigned it a high priority. Both did not change anything.

I think the magic lies somewhere in here:

Something about some animations or lightning effect does not work
LightningSetActionPoints: destination action point ‘fxwristr’

Also: the game is misising some particle effects: "Couldn’t find projectile effect for skill ‘Aw3PF.xcnwE’

The funny thing is, the game keeps on running but the error is there in the background. After a while the game crashes by freezing a little bit later though.

I’ve been having this issue for quite a while now and I always hit the ‘report’ button.
I’ve tried -repair, deleting cache files and user.dat and redownloaded the whole game but it still happens.

These three lines seem to occur almost every time in the crash logs:

Model ‘0×00df13’: LightningSetActionPoints: destination action point ‘fxwristr’ not found on model ‘0×082239’
Model ‘0×00df13’: LightningSetActionPoints: destination action point ‘fxwristl’ not found on model ‘0×082239’
Model ‘0×082245’: Failed to resolve AimIK bone indices.

Edit: And since this last time, according to my crash logs, was crash number 100 (feels more like 500 times) since Jan 22nd, (The Origins of Madness release) I figured I’d post here.

It’s been really awful since the Escape from Lions Arch release when I crashed almost every time I zoned out of LA. Same thing happens in the so called world trains and wvw, lots of people and lots of textures to load there I guess…

It’s annoying enough during pve but it’s really gamebreaking in wvw.

I really hope there will be a solution to this soon.

Gonna swim with the big fish. You’re gonna get your wish. Ooooooo. Little barracuda.
When you awake, quaggans will be here, and there’ll be a crab cake, just for you…
oooOOOOOoooooOOOoooo…

I disagree on this one. 74-83 processes is pretty normal, in reality.

what his main issue is, 3.4GB of ram used in the GW2 process. That’s the peak that the application CAN use.

I bet if he lowered his Character limit setting down to medium or Low, his crashing would stop.

I disagree on your disagree.

While it’s true that 3.4 Gig is high for a 32 bit program; a 32 bit program on a 64 bit OS can use up to a full 4 Gig (4096M). Of course, it could be some kind of bug in GW2 once it reaches that much memory usage causing it to crash.

Yeah, perhaps some store-bought machines will come configured with that much stuff running, but I consider it to be a lot.

I just know, over the past year, whenever we see GW2.exe use that much RAM it crashes. 64Bit or 32Bit for the OS. It doesn’t discriminate.

I try and keep my EXE as close to 3GB as possible, and have not had a single crash since.

I should be able to run 2 GW2 at the same time with max settings without a problem, so why is the game crashing at 3GB?

I recently upgraded to windows 8.1 and I read somewhere that sometimes crashes/serious errors occur on windows 8.1, are you going to do something about this problem?

I’m having the same problem. Frequent but seemingly random crashes in WvW. Sometimes I can go for hours with no crash, sometimes multiple crashes in quick succession. I usually repair GW2 and restart my computer after a crash.

Sometimes I get the GW2 “send error to Arenanet” window, sometimes I just get the Windows “GW2 has stopped working” window, and sometimes the game just freezes and I have to ctrl-alt-del and kill it in task manager. In the latter case, it always causes me to have an open mic in Teamspeak, even though it’s set to push-to-talk.

I’m also running windows 8.1 on an i7-2600k (not overclocked) with 8gb ram and an Nvidia GTX 460 (latest drivers).

Hi Nezz,

I’d recommend submitting a support ticket for this particular issue as we’ll likely need to collect a bit of info from you in order to track down the cause.

Does this mean that the over one hundred times I’ve reported this problem using the crash report pop-up thingy does nothing? We still have to submit a ticket to get this issue looked at and fixed?

I have made a “request” about the issue. I hope that will get resolved soon, it’s depressing since i play WvW every night for about 6 hours, every crash you have to re-queue. If you know anything, please post it here.

I’ve been crashing (only in WvW) and that’s what I do – hit the report button in the dialog that pops up on my desktop.

Never knew I needed to submit ANOTHER ticket to get them to pay attention this this problem >.>

I don’t see an error log pop up anywhere, so I’ll have to dig around and see if I can find a log.

And same problems here. Yesterday my game just close without any errors when we fight at enemy keep, today i come to EB and every second battle with 3 zergs from 3 servers crash me to desktop with crash report. I saw my first crash at knights fights at LA LS, never was with me befor for near the year of playing, but when devs split zerg with aura limits i have no problems with it for all week after patch, so i think something wrong with game code when many ppl fight at same place. I have pretty fast pc with 16 gb of Ram and Nvidia 670 card, and have no problems with other applications while gw crashing, skype, online radio all play well, but game crash and close. I hope it will fix soon, coz 50-100 que every time killing me

I’ve been having this issue for months now, it even changed the times I play GW2 as in primetime whenever i would join in on a fight I’d crash and there I’d be again in a 50-100 man que. Glad to know I’m not the only one that has these and that it might get fixed at some point.

I am getting Crash errors as well; and I just updated the game today 4/19/2014 around 10:00 PM pacific time.

From seeing these crashes being a few weeks old, its clearly the game client.

If it were hardware issue, you would be blue screening by now.

This can be caused by defective hardware or software compatibility issues.

I would start by disabling all unneeded start-up items:
