Game keeps freezing. Need Help
the colours mentioned indicate a definite crashing of the graphics card prior to the freeze, you might start with uninstalling 310.90 and going back to 310.70, or 306.97(which work better with this game anyway)
It’s a benchmark to stress test your graphic card.)..
Unfortunately, furmark won’t demonstrate a weak gpu as it is throttled (the shaders that is) by the display driver to keep the TDP low, where as games use rops, memory controller and more of the geometry domains of the hardware as well as shaders, and are not so explicitly throttled.

Already Tested with both of those: Crash still happening.

Uh! Didn’t know that..
Care to suggest something else to test the card with? Just to know if it’s the card defective or something else.
I’ve been playing Far Cry 3 with lots of technical isssues (almost every bug and glitch reported in the official forum), but never had a freeze like the ones I have with gw2.
Is there something else that you think I might try?
I really, really like this game and my rig is fairly new, it sucks to be stuck in this kind of limbo.
Thanks!
Edit: To add to the specs posted above:
I’m running Windows 8 64bit
and my router is a Netgear DGN2200.
Usually I have Teamspeak 3 running in the background, can’t tell for sure if the crash happened “without” TS running.. I Use it “almost” all the time.

You know, i’ve spoken with several people who absolutely cannot get windows 8 stable, and yet windows 7 runs absolutely fine.
Could be.
I’ve upgraded to Win8 just this december and that is when this freeze became more common (as I have stated previously it only happened once in a while during dungeon runs).
The thing is though, that almost every guildmate of mine have switched to Win8 and nobody seems to have the same problem that I have.
I know, this could mean nothing… but still…
Thanks Squall!
No hope then?
Every system is different and Win8 might not like a certain driver/component of your system (e.g motherboard chipset etc)
I would try underclocking the GPU and see if it is more stable.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Having a very similar problem. Someone please help, i can even finish dungeon without crashing.
computer: laptop dell xps15
CPU : Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
RAM: 8.1 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
video card: GeForce GT 540M
soung card: AVerMedia H339 Hybrid Analog/ATSC/QAM
I’ve now tried almost everything humanly possible…
Still crashing every now and then.
Sometimes I can play for as long as a full night, sometimes this crash happens every kitten minutes
I Had the same problems with crashing , some days it would go for hours then start crashing, then somedays it would crash every 5 minutes.
But everytime it has crashed on me, i have had headphones plugged in , Afterglow Wireless headset or my Logitech G35.
I havent had a crash since playing without headphones, which kinda sucks as i did use vent or team speak.
I may try to play “without” my Headset, but I’d say it’s strange that that would be the problem, since my headset is not USB, it’s a 5.1 headset by Roccat (Kave) that behaves like a normal set of 5.1 speakers.
Could Teamspeaker be the problem?
What do you reckon?
In any event: Even if that would “fix” my problem, it’d sux.
I play mmos with my guild and my friends, not just by myself, to be in TS is almost required for me to have fun in this kind of games…
having the same problem as you bro… its so irritating!

Well I just had the ol’ same crash Without any headset whatsover and without ts.
Obviously not logging ts fixed nothing.
Still “hoping” at this point that my GPU is faulty, otherwise I have no frigging clue on what is going on here…
Endy.
Got a black screen problem too. Sometime it just happens in the login screen or after 2 hours of playing – black screen, sound loop “rrrrrr” for 4 sec and reboot.
It is just a GW2 problem and I tried everything…
Any ideas? This problem is kinda “mysterious”

I’m with you here man..
I’m actually replacing my gpu with another one of the same kind (another gtx 670) just to see if the problem is on my end.
Ok, that maybe is a bit overkill but who knows…
A little Red-painted reply would go a long way to ease us all…
Endy.
Ok,
Today I mounted the new PSU but no luck, the game was still crashing to desktop.
So I deceided to give in and format my pc to see if that would fix it.
And naturally… after a couple of hours to get things ready after the format…. Nothing happens: Still crashing as before.
Nice.
Endy.
well i have had this game crashing on me ever seince i got it bout a month after it came out.
just keeps freezing or crashes every day, whe mine freezes i either have to alt F4, or Ctrl-Alt-Del or do a hard restart, however with the hard Ctrl-Alt-Del i have to restart anyways cause the Gw2.exe prossess cannot be closed and uses heaps of memory.
i have a Dell XPS L502X with:
CPU : Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM CPU @ 2GHz (can boost to 2.9GHz)
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1, 64-bit
video card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M
it runs every other game i have just for with no lag even Borderlands 2 with everything on high even max physx online with no lag, yet guild wars crashes.
i put the game away hopeing to come back with this problem patched as its got to be something on their end but even after a few months still no change.
Guess ill be putting it away for longer then i thought unless theres a fix out there.
Try running GPUZ and log just your GPU temps and load. Try setting your GPU fan speed to manual at 100% before playing.
I have the EXACT same problem. Tried everything, new drivers, theres no overheating, no overclocking..And i can see MANY people are asking about this problem in other forums too..But noone has a clear answer..Arenanet will you look into in ?
My screen goes all black, or light green, or light pink and freezes that way with the sound looping.
The bolded part sounds familiar.
The DirectX9 runtime, which this game uses, pre-fills the screen with lime green or bright pink every frame when it’s running in debug mode. If you happen to be a developper running the DirectX SDK on your computer (if you’re not, ignore my post) make sure that DirectX9 is NOT set to run in debug mode. When it’s in debug mode, it sometimes fires trivial issues as error which can do nasty things like calling the debugger or triggering Guild Wars 2’s error handling features uselessly. (Depending on how it’s programmed.)
Has anyone found a solution to this or is this just a lost cause?
I have been getting this black screen sound loo kitten ue since beta also.
I am running an MSI R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC Radeon HD 7850 2GB.
I will try underclocking my GPU by 10% with MSI Afterburner once I get back from work as it has been reported to solve the problem.
I’ll update my post tonight.
