Ok Guys and Gals I got mine sorted out someone on the forums mentioned a vpn , all credits to that person so i went and got http://www.hotspotshield.com/ hotspotshield installed it let it run and started guildwars 2 it updated fine then I connected and disconnected and now my gw2 is working , hope this helps some of you
I was unable to download the last 2 files from the server for about 2 weeks now. Installing HSS made it work instantly.
This has been happening to me for the last month. I’ve tried a couple times a week for the last four weeks and the patcher sticks on 1 file remaining and the DL speed alternates between 0.00 k/s and 0.15 k/s. I have run with the -diag option and that hangs on “testing network paths.” Windows firewall is off.
When I run with the -log option the patcher hangs in the same place but no log file is ever generated. I can leave the patcher running for 12 hours and it just hangs, I never get a failed message at all.
Interestingly, a new game patch was pushed between when this started happening and now. The patcher downloaded and installed what I presume was the new patch data, then proceeded to hang again on 1 file remaining.
I ran it with the -repair option and after verifying all the files, the same thing happens.
I’d love to post some log data but, as I said, a log file is generated but it is empty.
Hello, I am having the same issue now. Trying to reinstall, it hangs on the last file. I’ve tried turning off the firewalls and security and it does seem to download a 1kb file but then continues to hang.
I’ve tried creating the log but like Skroo above mine comes up empty.
A person on the Mac forums had this issue and he said “changing the language in the top right corner caused the whole patch to re-download and complete” he did note that Spanish did not work, but FRENCH did. Once it finishes downloading, you can change the language back to your default. (the devs recommend leaving the client run 10-20 minutes to re-initialize an alternate download, but some peeps have reported it can take up to overnight plus a few more hours on top of that)
This may or may not work for you, but several peeps have reported German to work also.

trying the French Method now. OOH lalala Magnifique! It worked!
(Edit #1: The language trick worked for me. Tried French, took about 20 mins to download, switched back to English, which was instant, and it was fixed. Yay!)
How do you run with parameter -log? (Edit: I figured it out, just add -log in the properties window like this: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -log)
I am having the same issue, am in the US, have disabled firewalls and added exception to my anti-virus. I have not tried the hotspot solution, but I might.

Hi there – l know this is an old thread but more for the benefit of Admins I would like to notify that I have been having a similar error.
It was sitting on 1 file remaining, downloading 24 MB of that file and then the download would fail without any error. I managed to “fix” it by MightySkip here above me’s tip to change language. I am also in South Africa and some of my local friends had the same error. Could Anet please look into this
I got mine patched just now. What I did was load the gw2.exe file in the Guild Wars 2 folder within Program Files (x86) rather than loading it from the shortcut on Desktop.
Not sure if it’s just sheer coincidence or it’s a legit solution.
wow i tried this and what actually was happening every time i would do it it would maybe complete a file, so on so forth until you get them all and you can play, was also doing cache flush a few times.. but only for the last file really maybe it was not necessary.
ok so the next patch came through same stopping problem, i did nothing els but open it a few times, and have been watching it complete a few files at a time until it works… so basically everything els in the previous post is irrelevant and just starting it over and over again will suffice.

I think i got a solution use “SPOTFLUX”, install that application, restart and try mostly the download is already completed. Some one else suggested this a few weeks ago it worked last time. I had to uninstall it because of slow speed (The app is eating the BW). Any ways..
ANET now figure out way why this application is helpful and please come up with a solution by next patch thank you..
