Got Scammed (While knowing {REPORT})
I don’t think you are allowed to post names on the forums.
Well If thats not allowed to bad because I think NCsoft should do something about these scammers! Name and shame rly
Naming and shaming is forbidden so this thread will soon be deleted, You can still report the scammer through other means, but I don’t remember it. Hopefully the mods that close this will help you know what to do.
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
Player to player trades are discouraged for this reason. I’m not sure anyone should be punished if you fell for a con that’s older than me (over 50). Especially one you volunteered for, going in with both eyes open.
“Hey buddy, want to buy a watch? opens coat Genuine Rolex.”
Who do you think you are, Serpico?
RIP City of Heroes
And yes @Behellagh the scam is super old, and sometimes you jump a trap so you can catch the guy who puts it down,
Thanks for the support Wolfheart

They may not ban for a first time scammer, it may only be 72 hours suspension. If he only get 72 hours and gets to keep your money, he may consider it a good deal, especially if he only plays 1 or 2 days a week and doesn’t even try to log on during the time he is suspended,
Seems like a waste of a lot of money, just to ‘catch’ someone.
So at the end of the road Scamming is rewarding and Anet doesnt even take his 65G stolen gold away? Wow this is a really messed up mater!
They may or may not take it away, but they certainly don’t give it back to you.
@Inculpatus, I never anticipated Anet doing so little / to even none. About players scamming like this!
Here is a Dev response explaining why:
“I’m really sorry this happened to you. Believe me, everyone on the CS Team is very sensitive to the damage that scammers do, and they’ll go out of their way to establish what took place so that the scammer is actioned, up to and including account termination. We can’t give back the items because in many cases they were shuttled off to another account or two, then sold, traded, or given to an innocent party. It seems easy — “Just take back my stuff!” — but the stuff is seldom on the account of the scammer and that person who bought an item on the TP not knowing it was stolen property should not become a second victim — that would not be fair at all.
The devs created the Trading Post to give you a safe and secure means of trading and selling items. I consider TP fees as “insurance that the other player will play fairly” so I don’t try to avoid them. I encourage you and every player to use the TP for all transactions."
You should edit out those pictures before you are infracted, as well.
The system of Anet, isnt that strong. As eventually ‘SCAMMERS’ always win. And what can we do about it? We will not know that player will be banned or even not issue as a scam at all.
Hopefully Anet support Team will have some improvement on dealing this situation.
Scammers can’t ‘always win’ if everyone else uses the Trading Post. Safety measures were integrated into the game. No way to get scammed if you use them.
Hey there, I would love to have some support on the following mater;
A player offerd me storm for 150G, Wich was way to cheap so I knew he was going to scam me, Still did the trade and took screenshots along the way. Simply to get this guys account locked/banned because im pretty sure i wont be the first or last one he scams.
Thanks so much!
Would you have done Dusk for 150 Gold instead?
SP, are you offering? >.>
No, but seriously: In any MMO I have played, trying to police the game as a player generally bites you in the .. uh, kitten.
Either because you use exploits when you should not have (“But I only wanted to report it!”) or because you tried to bear-bite someone (“I know he has a temper, so I got him to insult me by insulting him so I could report them!”) … or ‘to catch a scammer’.
Generally you’ll have more fun if you play the game and just report what you see. You could have just as easily done an in-game report: Offensive Chat and have the GMs check him out.
If you always use the TP you won’t get scammed. Simple.
That is Anet’s answer to your complaints and I can’t think of a valid argument against it.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
just out of curiosity…what actions would you have taken had your trade complete successfully, and you paid (what I’ll assume is 150g, though you mentioned 65g in another post above) and received storm in return?
would you have kept it? if you had any intention of doing so, you can try and report him for scamming but please don’t veil your shattered false glimmer of hope under an act for the greater good of this game or community.
My take is this – If the OP willingly offered himself to be scammed, we should let the scammer off without any punishment. Why? Because there’s no victim.

Yes. Please use the Trading Post. Please tell your friends — even your sworn enemies — to use the Trading Post. If we all use the Trading Post, scammers are out of business in the blink of an eye!
We’ll take action on a ticket reporting a scammer, we just need sufficient data to research, including date, time, time zone, name of your character, name of the scammer.
