When I’m playing Guild Wars 2 I keep getting weird blue lines all over the screen, buildings to pop up and leave again…
It’s really weird, I think it has something to do with some mails that I have gotten. They said: Someone tried to log in to your account in Tokyo, Japan. My problem is I’ve never been to Japan and I live in The Netherlands.
Is it possible that people tried to hack my account? And is that maybe the reason why I get those weird blue lines and buildings to pop up? And is there a way to fix it?
It’s very annoying, but I want to keep playing because it’s such a good game.

Greetings from me

Change your password now (don’t wait) and make sure you use a long, complex password (not something like “gw2password”). Don’t use the same password you use for your email account.

might want to read this: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/tips-for-keeping-your-guild-wars-2-account-secure/

The emails indicate someone has access to your account credentials, which means you need to change your password.

As for the lines, it sounds like a graphics glitch to me. Can you try setting all of your graphics settings on low (or disabled) to see if that resolves the problem?

I tried what you just said, what might fix the problem with the lines and buildings, but they still appear
:(

Definitely looks like a graphics problem to me. Have you always seen this with GW2? If not, did you install anything or update software related to your OS or your graphics driver when this started happening?

And did you change your password yet?

What kind of graphics card are you using? You might want to check this if you haven’t already to see if your PC can run GW2 without glitches:

I changed my password.

I didn’t had the problem with the lines and stuff in the beginning, it all started when I recieved that mail about an log in attempt in Japan. I have not installed any software or updates.

Even if someone had your password, they (theoretically) wouldn’t be able to access your account if you declined the authorization attempts. But even if they did access your account, there shouldn’t be anything they could do to your account that would cause you to see those graphics problems when you play the game.

Someone else reported blue lines and buildings appearing:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Blue-lines-on-screen-graphics-problems/first#post1607802

That poster updated their graphics card and it fixed the problem. That could be the solution for you.

Of course the driver you need will depend on the graphics card you have.

I’ll have a look at my pc.
But I didn’t had the problem in the beginning.
Is it possible it shows up later?

Yep, it’s very possible, especially after an update to either Windows or GW2. My graphics changed a lot (for the better) after the game was updated a few months ago. Then I updated my graphics card separately and the graphics got worse. lol

Sounds like a graphics card or power supply issue, or something involved with overheating.

If you continue to have issues, please post in the Tech Support forum, where you’ll be more likely to obtain the assistance you need.
