Huge lag and delay
Dhorghar please refrain for going of point and read all posts
Anyway it was nice again to play a pvp without lag now out of peek hours.
It IS NOT BETWEEN anyway not always. I’m following the addresses when i’m playing and it’s a mess , sometimes the node before them, sometimes just their servers.
Did they change something ? so there is more traffic who tell’s
(edited by RedZebra.2345)
Opened ticket so they guide me in the process. I knew this would not solve my issues but I did it anyway; I’m publishing here so others in my situation don’t even bother.
Thanks for the info about those programs @Dhorghar , saw pingplotter mentioned before.
What did they say, in the end?

What I’ve said is pretty much on point. If it was anet’s servers everybody in EU would have lag, but that is not the case. You have to let pingplotter run for at least half an hour, not just a minute or so which could skew the results. All my pingplotter’s reports show that it’s just the node before anet’s servers, not the servers themselves.
(edited by Dhorghar.5249)
strange did the same and got different results. While playing i’ll log. Results are inconsistent : node before or their servers depending on time. In the end they have a big problem in Europe.
(edited by RedZebra.2345)
I don’t know if the node right before the servers has something to do with them or not, could be, but I do agree that they have a big issue in EU right now.
Yesterday ping:20-40 Today :20-5000 spike
Location:czech republic All other games got low ping only gw2 got this spikes
When i relog or restart game have first 1-2 min normal ping 20-30 and then it spikes to +2k ping or to Ping 0
(edited by Pecar.1236)
Same here,ping between 500-2000.
Normal ping 40-60.
I have this same problem here in Kentucky, U.S.A.! I get high ping & low fps ever since the last major patch. I have never had this problem before! It makes the game unplayable & unenjoyable!
…
What did they say, in the end?
Tech support asked me to send files from Game Advisor report app (Info and dl here: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/231273708)
Will let you know how It goes.
Fix this already ANET!

Finally after quite some tickets back and forth..
Let’s cross fingers BOIZ
Saturday – ping 50-60
Sunday – ping 650 – 2500
For me it happens randomly and lasts for 5-10min.

In my ticket response I was asked to disable all non windows apps starting at boot (MSConfig > Services > Hide Microsoft Services > Disable all. Startup tab > Disable all > Reboot). I had already tried that some days before, didn’t solve my lag issues, though it’s not bad to check and stop unnecessary services.
Today I didn’t have lag issues at wvw (mostly solo camping), though I don’t consider this solved until i raid again in group at prime time.
The problem is that the game auto connect to the IP server with the lowest ping but somehow this server right now is so bad because it has an unnestable ping (Paris Server for me). I was playing without ping thanks to a program which makes you to connect from other IP so Anet connects you to another server.
Now im kittened because my free time period in that program is over, so lag came again
Flushing the DNS worked for me.
Same here in Australia. Used to average about 320 ping, now I’m lucky to get 400. And lately has been jumping up to 3000 or more.
High ping problem for Australia players too, not only happening for EU players. Hopefully ANET investigate for Australian too.
Same issue here in Poland. Never experienced lags before in game. Now every 5 minutes i have like 2k + ping.
Playing EU server from the USA, normally I have a decent experience but today experienced sporatic ping times from 200-6000. Playing a mission was pretty unplayable.
Playing NA server from Indonesia; i get lag too since last week with 400-800 ping >.<
Having similar issues the past few days, delay when trying to whisper someone, random spots of high ping & rubber banding, it’s fine on my end, as it is with other online games. Just GW2 that seems to be having the issue currently

Welcome to the internet folk, game server are fine 99% of all lag and disconnects are internet related and maybe less then 1% are server relate if there are any server issues Anet will and has always quickly posted on these forums and elsewhere that they are aware of the issue and will fix it as soon as possible in this case it’s the internet so good luck.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
Feirlista, please go trolling another post. Atm i have also 30-40 ping time. If you want to comment here: do it if you have a similar problem or any kind of useful info.
Getting over 4k ping, then later drops back to 40 ping, and then up to 4k again. First it only was wvw, now i even get it in pve.

Note: ping times can be quite misleading if packet loss is bursty, which “normally fine, then sudden lag” nicely encapsulates. It is entirely possible that Feirlista’s contribution was entirely valid.
The most useful thing you could do for this is either:
- contact support, and ask them for help, where they can ask you to run diagnostics useful to them
- run PingPlotter, and post a screenshot of it after you experience the problem
the later is perhaps less directly useful, but it’s pretty close to what is needed to help isolate the issue…

Well, probably because the servers for WoW are located in different data centers, connected to your ISP via different transit providers, meaning that the route — and thus the machines that could lose the packets — are dramatically different.
Last 3 days got normal ping but after today patch again 30-5k ping spikes or have 400-600 ping. Try absolutly every fix what anet post Flush DNS-Change ports-Try GW2 other PC but still got same lags.Problem is on Anet side when other games work normal with no ping problem. For last 3 year no problem with connection or ping (error7 sometimes) but now game is unplayable and unstable .

For those of you that don’t understand how internet security works high ping and packet loss at the NCSoft servers are the servers rejecting the ping request for security reason not because The game is having an issue. It’s there Firewall, ping request are not normal game data so it gets rejected and you get high packet loss! As others have pointed out most all of you that posted ping plots have issues elsewhere!

Their servers do allow pinging otherwise we would not see the Ping in Options..
If they would reject ICMP in their Firewall, would not see any Ping ingame. Think about it.
Anet has also confirmed/acknowledged to me they are investigating this issue.
I know you’re trying to be the White Knight with basic network knowledge but from my experience in the IT for years, I kind of know (sarcasm) where the issue is located.

I’ve been having issues with ping as well, I’m in London and I’ve been getting 500-1k ping often in the evening.

For others, the heuristic for distinguishing “this node drops some, or all, ICMP” from “this node is experiencing packet loss” is: what does the next node show?
If you see the same level of packet loss on the next hop, and all subsequent hops, then it is almost certainly packet loss. If you see one hop with high packet loss, and the next one has none, it’s almost certainly just that it discards some or all ICMP.
The other solution is to use something like tcptracepath, if you have access to it, to perform the same check using TCP packets — which won’t be deprioritised like ICMP is — but that’s harder to obtain, and not available in PingPlotter, which usefully visualises the details.
I have been having the same problem since the week before the living story Ping plotter also shows the issue as being at 89.149.164.42

Utterly unplayable tonight. 2k ping pve and wvw. Can’t do anything.
Tried all the usual things to try but nothing helps as the problem isn’t my side.
So much worse since the patch
Agreed Siren, meant to raid tonight, instead I might read a book, can’t even load into a map easily.
Have a fun night.
Aisy
I game from Italy and I encountered the same problem from upgrading the February 8 and also making all the controls on the PC, dns, connection, gw2 repair, but I always find myself with some measuring up to 3800 ping, especially in PvP.
I tried the advice given to Terrorsquad2349 but went far worse, constantly hang of the game and disconnection.
If they already are monitoring the problem I hope the good work staff^^
I have been having the same problem since the week before the living story Ping plotter also shows the issue as being at 89.149.164.42
I periodically monitor my route to anet EU, and that gateway (89.149.164.42) has historically been one the banes of my existence. For over a year, whenever I start to get high ping times or total packet loss, that gateway is often involved. It appears to be part of gtt.net.
However, my route seems to have recently changed (89.149.164.42 is no longer part of the route). For the past week or so, 77.67.71.122 (again, apparently part of gtt.net) is where I start to get the HUGE ping times that everyone seems to be complaining about. There is one thing different, though: with 89.149.164.42, I’d get disconnects. With 77.67.71.122, I don’t get disconnects, but 30+ second skill activation times (no dc’s).
Same problem again tonight, Support are trying really hard to help asking for reports etc, but I am sure that the problem is with the gateway (89.149.164.42) and I am not techie enough to be able to work out a way passed it… Frustrating does not cover it.
Having the same problems as above, PingPlotter shows 400-1500 at 89.149.164.42 and onward. Seems to get better after 11 pm. Unplayable before then.
Just curious, do the words BT or Infinity mean anything to the people having an issue with lag/packet loss from 89.149.164.42?
If it does you might want to take a look at this post from another forum. It is directly related to GW2 and problems with that node. This dates back to early 2014.

Nope not with BT, with a company that doesnt do any kind of traffic shaping. Been with this company for a number of years and also played GW2 since beta, never had a problem like this that I can remember prior to the week before the latest living story.
(edited by Sianon.3586)
Same issue here, Spain. Internet provider Movistar.
It’s impossible to play. I’m getting 2-3k almost every day at afternoon, evening or night… It’s really frustating, I can’t do anything like that :/
Just curious, do the words BT or Infinity mean anything to the people having an issue with lag/packet loss from 89.149.164.42?
Well, while there does appear to be issues with 89.149.164.42, that gateway appears to be owned by gtt.net, and not by either BT or anet. (Welcome to the internet, where a company that is neither your ISP nor anet can screw you over.)
Also, while this gateway appears to have issues, I don’t think it’s the cause of the recent nasty lag. I’ve been keeping an eye on 89.149.164.42 for months, and it seems to just cause lag and disconnects. What I haven’t seen, until the past week or so, are ping times that start out OK, but quickly ramp up to unusable levels during world bosses (but NO disconnects). To me, that smells of a different issue, like someone doing evil traffic shaping (because of the NO disconnects).
Also, other people with problems are not using a route that uses 89.149.164.42.
Just throwing it out there.
Everything being fine then problems increasing as network load increases (large scale events) sounds like throttling and/or traffic shaping by someone.
Hello, I am from Pakistan and I am having the same issue. Everything working fine except for GW2. I am able to login, start game and select character then it take so long on loading screen, longer than expected time or how long it usually takes then game does start but I can’t see icons or players armor or objects. After 5 minutes object start appearing but other player’s armor/suit still not visible and it lags a lot even sound comes after 1 min. Ping is 700ms~
Last time I played GW2, 3 days back and It was working fine.
Please check the attached image to know what I mean by other player’s armor/suit.
