Incredible long Loading screens?
Confirmed. Went from a couple seconds max to about 12 seconds. Pretty crazy stuff.

yup me too, i use to be able to drop into a map extremely fast…now it takes much much longer. Bummer

Same here. Its now painfully slow.
Yep. started after the election update for me.
For me it’s like 20-30 seconds sometimes.
Since this update, I cant even log in…
i farted 3 times still havent load
They were loading pretty slow during the stream, so maybe they did something.
Someone once claimed that deleting the local.dat file could reduce loading times. Apparently it can become bloated. Local.dat is located in the Guild Wars 2 folder under Documents.

Doesn’t help.
I can’t play the game like this, we are forced to go through too many loading screens…
For me, GW2 has always had the longest ‘load screen’ for any game I’ve ever come across. Every map takes ages, Divinity’s Reach takes takes twice as long as the others for some reason. I originally put it down to having everything in one humongous data file but that’s just a guess. I don’t really know…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Don’t know how bad it will be for me (I’m not at home so can’t try), but the worst game for me for loading times has always been SWTOR. I have all of my games on an SSD so the disk accesses are pretty quick though.
SWTOR is worse, but gw2 is very bad.
Same in wvw too, After several WP’s taking 30 seconds to load i just exited wvw.
confirmed also, I bought this up inside WvW and many others had also noticed it.
I have a 250GB Samsung 840 SSD and OC’d i5 3570k 16GB ram 7950 OC’d blah blah blah, running 64bit Windows 7, loading times used to be a few seconds, but I’m seeing up to 15 now, it’s really grating!

I want to say that this is INDEED TRUE. I have a brand new computer and I have been playing GW2 on it for the past 2 weeks. Everything has always been quick, etc. Now it seems that loading screens are so much longer, but I don’t actually have lag once the loading is done. I noticed this in sPvP as well. When I click to respawn after dying, the load is normally instant, but now it takes 10 seconds or more.

Can confirm this, its pretty stupid since I installed GW2 on kitten and now it feels like loading it from a HDD
Me too and i have an SSD HDD. Before it was really fast now it’s very long.
Check ur CPU usuage during the loading screens, u will note after your ‘usual’ loading period(what ever it is for ur rig) your CPU will idle more or less. this points to waiting on the servers or having a deliberate delay coded into the game.

With this many people complaining in-game in map chats, and here on the forums, I highly doubt that the issue is everyone’s computers messing up. lol

I wasnt saying it was :P

Sucks even more with slow loading screen in between re-spawns during a tournament.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Mine’s taking 2 or 3 minutes to load in some cases…. WTH
since the update i got incredible long loading screens, i used to have max 2-3 seconds and now its like 10-15 everywhere o_O
exact same issue as me… was 2-3 seconds.. now 10-15.. I have an SSD hard drive and can only imagine how bad it is with a rotating disk hard drive!
It’s definitely not that I’m loading into a popular zone either, this is true of all maps including dungeons.
I’m guessing it has something to do with fragmentation of the main .dat file.
My SSD (see sig) has the same issues as you’ve all described above.
Edit: Defragged the .dat file (my poor SSD) and did absolutely nothing. Guess I wouldn’t have worked anyway.

I am also running ssds but in raid 0 mode.
It was 2-3secs but now it is 14-15 secs too.
ANet, what’s your say on the matter? Is this how the game is supposed to be? There’s also been a lot of people complaining about a drop in FPS and even some graphics changes after the maintenance/patch.

Came to the forums to post/look for this very thread. Needs fixing ASAP, the loading times for my SDD used to be quite quick, now I may as well make coffee in between maps.

I agree 100 percent. Like everyone else I have seen jump in the loading times and a considerable drop in FPS. Very Frustrating. I removed my local.dat file. Still no relief. Fingers crossed the problem is fixed soon.
Definitely a lot slower loading with the new patch. Almost feels like it’s not on SSD.
Anet…Your silence says it all.
I have been having the same problems as above. I have a brand new computer and I have low FPS and long loading screens. Incredible let down.
Same. 3 or 4 times the previous loading time. Really game breaker for sPVP

Intel SSD, Intel i5, 8gig Ram
pre-patch loading times: 2-3 secs
post patch : 15-45 secs
I can confirm SSD CRUCIAL c300 64gb, twice/triple longer loadings after patch.
And after delete local.dat nothing change.
There is a rddt topic http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1jtl48/very_slow_loading_times_since_today_patch/
The only noticeable one I had was when I first logged in to a player parked in Divinity’s Reach. And yes it took a very long time. However traveling to other zones, LA, even within DR was fairly normal. And after the patch and forced restart tonight it was relatively quick starting up in DR (which I attribute to the process of patching meant a chunk of the game’s dat file is in the OS’s drive cache).
The fact that players with SSDs are having this problem is odd indeed. Are your SSDs more than half full? Maybe it’s a side effect of GC? Drive erasing cells while you are trying large reads at the same time? Don’t know.
RIP City of Heroes
@Behellagh doesn’t matter if half full. I have the same free space on ssd like before patch.

Of course it reports the same amount of space. But all that free space may not be quickly usable until the drive’s garbage collection function runs in the background.
Since the game was patched, including the primary, I think 4 times in the last 24 hours, there could be a load of flash cells that need a proper erasing at some point to be usable again. I was pondering if GC running at the same time as a butt load of read requests could somehow affect read performance.
RIP City of Heroes
I still cant log in. I tried this port forwarding solution but did not work. I had no problem before this last patch but now I can not even connect to the log-in server. I guess I just stop playing this game until they fix this issue.
It is pointless to mess with the PC when it was working before patch.
Dear A.net, do something.

Wrong thread?

Dear anet,
We know you must be putting out a lot of fires post patch release. However, when the higher priority issues are fixed, please do something to better optimize the systems to get back to fast load times. As others have mentioned, it’s like I don’t even have kitten drive. Thanks for your help.

Same here… it’s even more annoying when I’m doing PvP games. Before the patch I would spawn near instantly at the base, now I look at the loading screen for some time and it feels like an eternity.
Yep since the patch the loading screens suck. I have SSD and had very short loading screens all the time. All of my guild have noticed that loading take longer now too.
Need to fix this anet!

Good Lord, it is not the computer, the SSD or any other hardware on anyone’s machine. People without SSDs have the exact problem.
True, it’s likely server side.
But SSDs were brought up and I only suffered long load times gating to DR for the 1st time and I don’t have an SSD. And I didn’t notice any delay right after the original update went live. So I tried to think of reasons why an SSD would be a problem.
RIP City of Heroes
Confirmed that it has slowed down on both rigs. One with SSD and one with standard hard drive.
Yep my loading times have double/tripled for pretty much everything.
Do something about taht ARENA ….. before this patch i had 5sec Loading screen and sometimes less for same areas ….. now it s more 15-20sec and often more ….. WTH arena? you want than ppl left your game or what ….
(i have crucial ssd disk with 3570K cpu and 100M ISP…)

I’m experiencing the same increases in load times reported here. There’s no reason the load times should be this long. Before load times were 2-3 seconds. Now it’s well over 10.
Boring specs below:
CPU – 3570k GPU – 2gb GTX 670 RAM – 8gb
Sandisk Extreme 120gb SSD – Windows
Sandisk Extreme 240gb SSD – GW2
Also experiencing longer load times.
Intel 520 cherryville – 120gb SSD: windows 7 pro x64 only
intel 520 cherryville – 240gb SSD: GW2 and games only
both health from intel ssd toolbox is 100%
system is fairly new, assembled around march
I’m also experiencing horrendous loading screens – like minutes… and at the moment I can’t get into Crown Pavilion AT ALL. I have a load screen and the only way of getting online is to exit GW2 using Task Manager, and log on to a character who is not in Crown Pavilion.
Edit: After about 5 minutes I got “game lost connection to server” Error 7:11:3:191:101
