Dears sirs,

I have decided writing this message because I’m experiencing lag issues since the 28th January patch and quite frankly it’s becoming really annoying. Everytime there’s an event regarding flame and frost prelude game is quite unplayable: I get kicked out of the game, skills and abilities activate with a delay of 10-20 seconds and I find myself dying just after a couple of swings. The same thing happended with the lost shores event which made the game completely unplayable for days for me.

The problem is that also many guildmates, living very far from me, experience the same problems. My question is: Is there a way you can fix these problems, or at least are you aware of them and working on a solution?

I play on Piken Square too but I haven’t had any issues, and haven’t seen any complaints from any guild members. Only thing I want to mention is it seems like there’s quite a lot of Italian users complaining of lag recently (check most of the recent posts of the “Network Lag” thread). You might want to try and see if you all share the same ISP, region or issue as the issue seems to reside somewhere inbetween the connection rather than on ANet’s end.

No I live in mid-west America and I’ve been having lag issues off and on since the 28th patch too. It doesn’t seem to effect everyone and it doesn’t effect me all of the time. Most of the folks I play with say they’ve had no trouble. But it’s something to do with the 28th patch, I had no trouble before then.

Same story here. Never had a single issue with lag prior to the 28th, and it’s become so bad that I don’t even want to play the game anymore until I can figure out what the issue is. If anyone figures it out, please keep us informed. :c

Hello,

I am having this exact same issue since the 28th (I actually had to close the game to write this) before the 28th patch I could play fine, but since then the lag is unbearable, especially on my GF’s computer. She is also unable to play. I’m not sure if it is a memory leak issue or something of the sorts but even turning the graphics to lowest doesn’t solve the issue.

Hi Fabio D – Lag issues are always kind of hard to look into as there are a number of different factors that can contribute to lag. More often than not it is an ISP issue though I am definitely not dismissing the fact that this could potentially be server side as well.

That being said, some troubleshooting and a bit of investigation needs to be done in order to reach a conclusion, and the best way to do this is with one on one support.

With any lag issue I always recommend players try bypassing their router and connecting directly to their modem (if able), eliminating any unnecessary start-up background applications via Msconfig (making sure to hide all Microsoft processes of course), running a Winsock reset, and even a defrag of your hard drive.

Next, we need to look at traceroutes. These will show us packet loss and ping, and generally indicate where the issue lies. Sometimes we’ll ask for a report from a third party application such as PingPlotter since it nicely illustrates a player’s connection and any latency and packet loss. To avoid running any third-party applications, we can also look at Network Diagnostic reports. You can provide this by following the steps below:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Right-click on “GW2.exe – Shortcut” and select “Rename.”
4. Rename this file to “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic.”
5. Right-click on “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” and select “Properties.”
6. Locate the “Target” line and add the following to the end " -diag"

Your target line should look like this: “C:\Gamse\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -diag

7. Click “Ok” to save your changes.
8. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” to start the test.
Once completed, please click “View Results” and save the results to a text file on your desktop. Once saved, you can attach that to this thread for review.

So, I apologize for the wall of text, but this is why this issue is generally best handled through our support ticketing system.

Me and some of my italian guildmates on Seafarer’s Rest are having troubles with lag too. Our service is proveded by telecom and we have experienced heavy lag from 19: 00 CET till around 23:00 CET, basically during peak times. What has led me to believe it’s not on our end is that while the game lags heavily, other games/videos on Youtube and whanot work as usual. Should I open a different thread or is it okay for me to attach the results of the diagnostic test here?

Hello, i’m a italian player of Guild Wars 2 and i’m having many issues related to my latency. Many friends of mine and people from Italy using a particular ISP (Telecom Italia) are having this kind of problem which don’t allow to play decently.

Problem is if there is any sign of packet loss before their servers, they will tell you to go talk to your ISP.
I’ve been having issues with this game specifically for months and when I did a PingPlotter, Arenanet told me ‘it wasn’t their servers’ and to talk to my ISP.
My ISP basically told me the reverse.

I still get skill lag from time to time and I’m sadly playing the game less and less because of it.

Its worth going through the checks though for your use.

I am having similar issues, the game is almost unplayable for me.
Apparently, i get heavy packet loss from:

I have same issues, since 28th Path and became Worse in this month 13th Patch.

This MUST be server side, play this since headstart never happened, the game just decided since that day to disconnect and have random lag spikes.

That’s also my issues! The monsters in PVE and people too WONT LOAD. They load in WvW but not in PVE; I avoid now group events because that, I may die easy because takes some seconds to load everything.

Hello, I am also experiencing lag but it only started 2.3days ago. I’m not sure if windows8 would be the issue because many of my firneds confirm that they run the game on win8 with no issue whatsoever. Anyhow this is my Diag.txt

It has to be server side.

Servers unable to deliver maximum performance on load.

I have a grade A line, have no problems with any other online game. I have consisitent download speeds, upload speeds and ping. I have no packet loss.

I have noticed it depends on time. GW2 are slowly turning into a lag festival at certain times indicating heavily loaded servers. Regardless of the strenth of my connection, I will suffer because THEIR servers pulling heavy.

I also noticed it depends on WHERE. Cursed shore lately is very busy and lags very much. I am not even going into wvw, that place is a framerate festival at times.

There is also WHEN. Some times of the day are uber smooth, a clear indication THEIR servers are low on load.

Once again, regardless of the quality of my line, their servers pull heavy in certain area’s and I suffer.

The fact of the matter is, the concept of having lots of people in an area will effect everyone regardless of quality of line.

It is when those with A+ quality lines start to experinece skill, attack, music lag when you ahve to worry becuas ethen it means the game becomes unplayable for the masses.

Fact is, a bad ISP will ahve consistent problems, most people suffer lag at certain periods indicating serious issues server side.

I just returned to GW2 after not playing for several months. I had switched from an American server to a European server so that i could play with a friend and hopefully cut out lag issues because it had less traffic. on Tuesday, i started experiencing lag issues not only in WvW but also in my story line quests and 70-80 maps. It has become so rediculous that i had a delay for about 5 minutes with no message or d/c. idk what is going on but i am getting up to 90 fps so its obviously network related. Also i have chekced my connection and i am getting excellent signal strength so it is not a personal issue either. someone please lead me to some answers before i decide to pay money to switch back to a crowded American server to see if that fixes the problem.
EDIT: sorry forgot to mention i am currently on the EUR server Whiteside Ridge but i used to be on Maguuma

I just bought a new computer with windows 8, the first few days the game was running perfectly but now the last 2 day i’ve been having latency issues. everything in the game is running just perfectly but i’m having latency when i use my skills (2 -3 sec latency) i also play battlefield 3 on ultra graphic and it’s running great, so it’s not a network issue.

please help!
