Guild Wars 2

There is this persistent problem I’ve had since arguably the day I started (the November after launch) that hasn’t really bothered me til now since I took a short break and noticed just how often it happens.

When I hold right-click to turn my camera, it randomly drops right-click status (if that makes sense) and I lose control of the camera. This is compounded by it randomly re-catching the rightclick, which easily 2/3 of the time the mouse is under something clickable, changing my target and screwing up what I’m doing, also by changing the direction I dodge into a random direction I did not intend. It also goes out of the window a *lot* of the time (as I have two monitors and play on windowed fullscreen) and I wind up randomly right-clicking on everything you can think of on the right screen (usually something in Chrome.)

Windows 8.1, no special software installed to mess with USB ports or the mouse.

I forgot to mention I’ve been testing for several days in other games, including LoL, Antichamber, Left 4 Dead/2, Dark Souls/II, Skyrim, Garry’s Mod, Half-Life #, Outlast, etc. etc. Basically, everything on my Steam library. The *ONLY* game that I have issues with is Guild Wars 2.

Lets make this weirder. I just did a little test and held right-click on my browser. I ran the mouse in circles and the right-click menu kept coming up. I closed out of Guild Wars 2, and boom. Nothing.

I have this exact same issue many others too but this being the most annoying I have also tested many other games only this game it’s a game changer in PvP ha it really is Anet please do something about this

I had the exact same issue as well. Even worse- my mouse randomly dodged as well and let me walk backwards.
At that time I was using a Microsoft Sidewinder mouse. Solution: Deinstall Sidewinder driver and use it as a normal mouse. Step 2: Get a new mouse. Solved.

Why dont you just remove the need to hold the right mouse button for eternity…Just get rid off it anet,i really think it’s unneeded and people will be able to shortcut something useful too the right mouse button instead..

Same issue here. Might help if we collect some data, maybe there is some common factor to it.

Happens in fullscreen, windowed fullscreen and windowed mode.

You need to go through a few other troubleshooting progressions. First you need to try a different mouse and see if it does that with a new mouse. Also sometimes if you have a specialized mouse with software, not just plug-and-play cheap mouses, the software will interact with games differently. It could be some weird settings in the control panel for the mouse software that screws things up on GW2 and not on other games. First narrow it down if it is all mice or just that specific one though, try multiple mice.

A very likely cause for this is the mechanical button on the mouse itself is wearing out. The constant need to HOLD a right click in GW2 puts a lot of stress on this part and some mice are better than others.
