Network Lag [Merged]
+1 to the above. Having these exact same issue – also from Australia.
Zero issues when out of a party, nothing but rubber banding and lag when in a party.
I’ve been playing since the head start and never had an issue until today. Why?
I’m from New Zealand not Australia and as you already know having the same issues. I could run around in a dungeon and keep up with my party and that, disconnected once or twice. One stage everyone but me disconnected but I lagged so bad for so long that I never even saw them disconnect. They where able to disconnect and re-login some time before my lag spike recovered. It was like we disconnected at the same time but it never showed up on my screen. I dunno if I did as the lag was pretty bad. I was chatting in the Party Chat and there was a little delay then at one point nothing at all was showing up, then all of a sudden several minutes later I get a flood of my relies as well as my party’s. At one point after that the chat log was wiped/ reset and that’s when other people wondered if they got disconnected or not.
I’m from the Australian east coast. Have noticed lag sufficient to boot me on a few occasions for about 6 hours or so. Getting lag spikes of about 15 seconds at a time (certainly interesting display of multiple skills flashing at once at the end). Have been just PvEing. Guildies from Australia are not reporting lag spikes though. Have logged out quite a few times – not resolving currently.
Western Australia here, terrible skill lag also. The only time I have had it this bad was in the middle of a zergy 3way in stonemist, except this time I am fighting pirates in a baron bloodtide coast on Anvil Rock server at 5pm (UTC +8).
Not sure what has changed over the past week but its been terrible for the most part.

Im getting alot of lagg on SOS server, cant even complete my FOTM 20 daily
Ive noticed reading this thread that alot are from Australia, im wondering if Telstra is having issues ?? This started to happen about 5 hrs ago before that was fine.
Twitter https://twitter.com/HarriDoesGaming
I am in Australia as well. Never had any issues but about lag 3-4 hours ago I started to get massive lag spikes. It’s almost like traffic stops flowing completely for a few seconds.
Traceroute doesn’t show any problems with the hops between my ISP and Anet so I am assuming the issue is with Anet’s internal network.
It looks like mainly Australians are having the lag problem. Add me to that list.
There is a skill delay—sometimes they don’t trigger at all.

I can play another online game with 200 ping, which is the normal ping for me. Right now I’m watching a stream and loading a video in 720p and their buffer rates are fine. So perhaps it’s isolated to the game. I cannot be 100% sure though.
I’m on Piken Square. I guested on Aurora Glade to see if it was just the server but I was also have the same problems in AG.
Also experiencing lag these recent days. Before, I’ve never experienced anything like it. It’s mostly 2-3 second delays (in which period everything just stops moving).
Far Shiverpeaks server and it mostly happens during ‘crowed hours’: in the weekend and evening.
Hey guys, just used SpeedTest to ping the data centers in Seattle closest to ArenaNet in Bellevue and got 500ms ping and less than 1Mps speeds?
Lost of the other US sites are a bit choppy from Australia as well but that seemed to be the worst. Not sure where the problem lies but at least the tells me why I’m not getting what I should.
Another Aussie on Sea of Sorrows who is suffering lag. I just tried the Claw of Jormag and it was a slide show. I’ve done this before about two months ago with absolutely no lag. Guild Wars 2 is starting to be much less fun due to this problem.
Why are all y’all on SoS.
I’m not exactly sure where the Europe servers are located, so I just did a wild guess and chose London (so original). I got 350 ms. This kind of ms on European servers are normal to me as well.

What normally is your ms? If it’s a dramatic change then it could be a problem on your end. Or there is something wrong with servers in Seattle in general.

I’ve done the same test several times and the results are fluctuating from 212ms – 226ms ping up to 412-438 ping and 4.13mbps – 4.37mbps down to .56mbps and then up and down again.
Sydney, Australia on Sea of Sorrows.
Game has been completely unplayable today.

Why are all y’all on SoS.
Oceanics generally play on NA servers, and SoS has a healthy population for my generalized playtime hours.
I’ve always (living in Australia) gotten far better connections to NA servers than EU ones.
EU servers are about as far away from me as you can put them.

I’m on Yaks Bend and my usual is around 200 to 300.
Here is a quick video of it in action: http://youtu.be/sdmPYNh-G6g
Other instances I recorded include diving into water and having mace shield for about 15 seconds underwater (with a blank skillbar) and magical disappearing dolphins.

Not from australia, but I’m having the same issues. Germany here, Ruins of Surmia server.
Skills delays, rubberbanding now and then, even when I’m gathering wood or ores it delays.
And it is like that since a few hours. Yesterday the game was just running fine.
I started playing shortly after I got home about 2:45pm NZ time and it started off fine, had a slight lag that was just barely noticeable and over the afternoon it got progressively worst throughout the afternoon to the point it was unplayable. I tried doing map completion and discover a point of interest or way point and nothing. Run circles around it and nothing, then two minutes later I get all these newly discovered way points, points of interests etc. Tried guesting on another home world, lag was slightly better but still rather unplayable. Click on a skill to attack a foe and nothing…. then all your skills are activated at once and your either dead or your foe is dead without a scratch to you. I really wish Anet had a server or two in Australia and/or New Zealand would make our playing experience so much better.
Had posted this in another thread but thought it best to post it into the main thread never realised this was here.
I have also noticed since this last patch that its more common to have skill lag and stuttering.
I hardly ever got it before but now it seems pretty common and its making WvW extremely difficult. With the combat all about being quick paced and quick reaction its hard to react when you cast a skill it goes all the way to the top nothing, cast a skill progress bar goes 100% and nothing then repeat 3/4 times and suddenly it kicks in.
As I said it is something that has happened recently as I rarely ever got this before in WvW, last time I seen something this bad was when the Karka event in Lions Arch kicked off. But it is happening with far less people in the map, I have also had it outside of WvW but mostly when your doing one of the Dragon events and its never been as bad this before when doing these events.
I am in the UK and I have a 50Mb broadband connection and my computer is not bad spec wise, albeit not NASA material but it can play the game with everything pumped upto max normally without any glitches. I have tried tweaking with the settings and toning a few things down but nothing seems to help.

Hey guys, playing on Whiteside Ridge here, having the same constant delay and frequent 5-15 second spikes. Occasional disconnects to char select. Started about 3 days ago, gets better or worse throughout the day with no apparent pattern.
Interestingly, other people running GW2 from my network are not experiencing any of the symptoms. However, no other application on my PC has the same issue. Just to be sure, I did a quick malware hunt and inspected my personal traffic to find nothing of suspicion. Therefore, it’s definitely something on your end.
Please fix it soon, it is quite unplayable. Thanks.
I’ve also been experiencing frequent laginess with GW 2 in the past couple days — short 1-3 second delays every few seconds or so where the other players, npcs, and skills stutter or freeze. Seems to be happening in whatever area of the game (Fort Aspenwood server) I am in. Gameplay is difficult. I haven’t had any issues like this in the past 2-3 months I’ve been playing this game. My internet connection seems fine with other applications. I’m in New Zealand.
I’m trying pingzapper and it seems to fix it
Game is pretty laggy for me atm. If I ping Guildwars2.com I get results around 300 ms, whereas anything else is in the normal range.
I’m In Canada, Toronto area if that helps at all.
I’m form the Philippines never had this problem so bad before, in Yak’s Bend can’t even do anything when I finally enter the game just standing there. The lag is terrible getting really annoyed with this issue. My friends and guild mates are doing fine my connection is stable the FPS is around 35+.
Will there be a patch that could fix the network lag or I’m gonna have to stop playing GW2 because of the problem?
From Michigan here and ever since the last patch I been getting crazy lag spikes. At one point I was d/c’d and thought nothing of it, but then an hour later the spikes started. Trying to escort donkeys in wvw and they just keep stopping, and when I get into fights I’ll be spamming my skills but they take 3 seconds to go off. Then I’ll be fine again for about 5min, and it comes back again for 30 more min.
I’ve tried multiple other games and dl’s but they were all fine. I’ll edit this tomorrow after I wake up to say whether it stopped or is continuing.
Edit: Alright just got disconnected again and immediately on logging back in the lag was there. That’s 2 for 2 on getting disconnected followed by lag.

I’m from the Philippines too. Same situation-guildmates can play fine while I’m having extreme lag problems. When did you start getting this issue? Also, what’s your ISP? :O
I am from the Philippines I never “lagged” before, but now I can’t even play because of the 5- 10 secs (maybe longer ) delay. PLEASE FIX THIS

Just 2 days ago can’t play properly kept on dying. Everything is fine my connection is stable. Tried using pingzapper, made it worse
Hope they pay attention on the lag problem soon. I might find something else to play…
omg and the lagg is back….seems to happen around 4-6 PM for me AUS UTC+10 which i think is 9-11 PM PST. I cant do Fractal, I cant do wvw, hell i can barely gather for my daily!! This never happened before Flame and Frost Prelude patch. Since then I have DC’ed about 20 times which ive never ever have since the 3 day head start weekend launch for Christ sake. I can understand maybe more people are playing and thus more demand on servers and what not…but regardless this needs to be fixed.

I’m from the Philippines too. been experiencing lag for the past weeks. it was fine a couple months. i experience 1-5 secs of delays. it is pretty annoying.
Getting major lag. Was getting around a 10 second delay when attacking/speaking to NPC’s. I then teleported to waypoint and its just stuck loading Gendarran Fields waypoint.
I’ve tried closing the client, and opening it again. I’ve tried rebooting my PC.
Server: Desolation
My ISP: Virgin Media
Country: United Kingdom – Hertfordshire
Would appreciate a fix please.
Cheers
Same here, was fine yesterday, this morning suffering major lag making play impossible.
Server: Ring of Fire
ISP: Virgin Media
I will try my backup Sky line to see if that makes any difference. Why is there no latency indicator in-game anywhere?
edit: no problems at all on my Sky connection, suggests it’s yet another Virgin Media issue.

Also from the Philippines and I apparently have the same problem as you guys. I can’t do anything aside from moving around and enemies either stand there or repeat their animations. Travel by waypoint? Isn’t happening.
It all started Feb 12, even before the maintenance update. I’ve been playing the game fine before then and now it just is unplayable.
I already sent a support ticket about this and I’m still waiting for their reply.
For my kababayan: I’m on Skycable (Metro Manila) and I’m on Borlis Pass.

Hey guys, just letting you know, that although yesterday’s maintenance did mitigate the issues to the point of making the game reasonably playable, it did not solve them. I still get frequent spikes of up to 5s, rarely more than that, and still a couple disconnects here and there.
I’ve noted that even if I disconnect, I’m standing exactly where I was on my client screen when I log back in. This suggests that my packets are reaching you fine, but yours are repeatedly lost on the way back, and in large bunches apparently, since 200ms ping should allow the client to recover within at most half a second from a single packet loss.
I’d also like to point out again, that people in the next room are playing on the same server with none of these issues.
Good luck and feel free to contact me if you need to run some tests.
Lagging again started for me when I began playing at 8:00PM CDT on Tuesday 04/12/13, lagged last night too. Same stuff, 2-5 delays in skill activation. Character animations sometimes speed up or slow down. never had a problem like this with any other online games i play.
As a side note up until Tuesday the game ran with negligible errors for about a week thought this was fixed.
Tarnished Coast
Comcast (because I don’t have a choice)
I’m playing on Seafarer’s Rest and I’m experiencing massive lag as well, which makes the game unplayable. [I live in Poland]
I haven’t had any problems with GW2 o far.
I hope you guys are going to fix this soon…
Cheers!
having the same issue as everyone else, lag is horrendous.

Ever since the maintenance on the 13th I have been having very noticeable lag spikes Mostly in WvW. During medium to large size battle I get lag spikes for 2-6sec making playing horrible. I play on Yaks Bend on the east coast. ISP Comcast.

From the Philippines and my ISP is Skycable Broadband too. I’ve played for over 1000 hours already with no problems. But this past week I was lagging real bad(delayed skills and my character seems to snap back to different locations). After a few minutes of play I get the 7:11:3:189:101 error. This made the game very unplayable. I have already submitted a ticket and they asked me to use pingplotter to trace my connection to their servers. They asked me to contact my ISP because I was losing data packets. I’m starting to think our ISP is the problem, IDK

That’s just Anets excuse blaming isp’s, to easily get the blame off themselves.

Using True in Thailand and I’m experiencing something similar. Probably isn’t your ISP but something targeting our region. Data packet loss is common in all connections that span long distances, but disconnects like that are not. Try testing out the ping plotter on IPs in the same country as the GW2 server (proxy servers or perhaps games that have servers there). If your ping plotter shows unreachable like on GW2, then you can blame your ISP. Otherwise if it doesnt (like me), please petition Anet to fix their servers.

Same boat… also from the Philippines and also using Skycable Broadband. game is unplayable but i’m not having any problems with other online games…
In the Midwest here, Tarnished Coast server, getting the disconnect error a lot in the past day or two. Tonight I was able to get into my personal story quest only to get booted a few minutes later. Was able to get into WvW but booted a few minuets later. Now it wouldn’t even load into WvW before getting booted. Mind you it’s nearly midnight here. Did tests regarding my ISP and found no problems. I’d be happy if Anet would just be honest with us, is it that hard?
Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.

Even up to now, nothing has changed on the connectivity issues. I’m gonna call Sky Broadband’s Tech Support and see if they changed something on their side this week. I find it weird that there’s a sudden ip packet lost (100%) whenever I connect to GW2.
Worse-case scenario, I might try switching to a different ISP. Most of my guildmates play in the Philippines too and they never had connectivity issues like this. Although it’s just a hunch that certain ISPs are really the problem.
