Anyone with the new AMD piledrivers have results?

Yes I upgraded from a Phenom II X6 1090T (OC’d to 3.8GHz) with 4GB DDR2 ram but still using the same video card, the max fps hasn’t changed that much but min fps has gone up, I don’t get low spikes anymore. GW2 doesn’t scale too well across multiple cores but since I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8 due to a dying hard drive I notice slightly better multicore scaling.

I Finally upgraded my Graphics card (Had an old Nvidia Geforce6100 intergrated which gave me <5FPS……)

Hardware Spec:

CPU – AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4000+ 2.1ghz (Stock Overclock)
GPU – Asus AMD 1GB GDDR5 HD6670 (Stock Overclock)
Mobo – NVIDIA MCP61S Single Chipset (Pretty old with a PCIex 1.x Slot, but Will upgrade around Mid/Late 2013 also)
PSU – 350W
RAM – 2gb (No point on upgrading this for when I go out and buy a new mobo)
OS – Windows XP Pro 32bit (IMO, XP>Vista/7/8…but I will upgrade to Win7 when I can be bothered finding the disc..don’t really like it as i use it for my Offline Partition also)
HDD: 1TB HDD

Game Settings:
Medium>High
1280×720
Vsync on

FPS
PVE = 30-60 (Depends which zone, Max I have gotten IS 59FPS)
Cities = 18-34
PVP = 28-42 in most, if not all sPvP Maps
WvWvW = 28-34 (21 in large battles)

GW2 Build# = 16,130

Also * I Would* probably be getting much better FPS if my Motherboard wasn’t holding the Graphics Card Back on speed (mobo is a PCIex gen V1.x) but I do not have the time nor money to upgrade any further atm.

Edit: Added WvW FPS

My expirience isn’t horrible, but I lagg a lot when I first enter the game or whenever I tab out and back in (I have to wait 7-15 sec. or so for it to stop). I also get random lagg once in a in a while, it’s not really predictable…it’s extremely annoying (like on a story-mode mission I was getting like 10 fps!). This game has been lagg issues, one after another- since launch. This is the only game I have troubel running smoothly on high settings…

At this point, it’s safe to say that my Graphics Card is holding me back. I upgraded from an i7 870, and have noticed huge game improvements. A friend of mine has the same CPU as I do clocked at around 4.2GHz, but has 2 GTX 670s in SLI, and has a higher frame rate than I do. Any further advice would be awesome.

35FPS in rural areas with no buildings and no other players.
10-15FPS when introducing any of the above.

Setting were tested with an open mind in my head, max results are mostly in cramped spaces, dungeons, alleyways & corridors etc.

Added:
-> New drivers (327.23) does improve on former stable versions. only thing I noticed sometimes an armor skin is dropped in favor of a faster FPS, it’s corrected within fractions of second normally (happens mostly on turn etc, on high/ultra settings)
-> At clean install I selected not to install the 3D drivers, as I have no 3D screen nor goggles, and it also seems to improve speed,.

Do not install drivers if you do not need them, Gw2 does support 3D viewing, so if calculations are made according to gw2 programming: your fps will suffer due to needless calculations! These drivers are installed default using nvidia installer!

2. he has noticeable fps gains when sli is enabled? is this because of the two x16 lanes on the rampage extreme?
3. he has the word “stock” next to his processor. did that mean no overclock? because 144 fps in wvw is sick. even if he’s by himself in a jumping puzzle.

34 fps isnt unheard of in a average sized zerg but 34 fps as a minimum in a EB sized zerg ..i think not. Pic’s or didnt happen bassicaly :P

SLI wont get around minimum frame rates that are caused by the CPU. If it went as low as 18 in the 1st test for non SLI, it would go down to 18 FPS in the SLI test if it was the exact same situation. What likely happend was the WvW test for SLI was simply less intensive. Not saying it wouldnt still look like a crazy big zerg but a 120+ man zerg can look similar to a 80 man zerg when ur in the thick of it. Same can ebe said for LA, unless ur capped by GPU, SLI wont change the minimums.

An update:

-CPU: 1x Intel i7 3930K 3.2Ghz (stock) hexcore (w HT: 12 threads)
-GPU: 2x Nvidia Geforce 780 GTX (Yes, it could be SLI-ed) 3Gb

Game setting: Windowed (maximized on Screen 2)
Display Resolution (Screen2 1920*1200, Screen 1 1920*1080)
Graphic Settings (Best FPS/Best apperance)

FPS Value: (NON -SLI (!))

PVE 45-198/22-108 (low values at events, high value with environment alone)
Cities: 79-192/15-125 (guess bottlenecked by network and others, 15 is at bank when moving and looking out, normal 38 at bank, 125 near claw portage)
PVP : N/A
WvWvW: 18-145 (Highest/Highest settings)

Will check this for SLI… later

- edit: (ADDED SLI VALUES)

FPS Value: (SLI values)

PVE 100-218/44-125 (average 70-90 best graphics) (low values at events, high value with environment alone)
Cities: 97-170/25-125 (average 33-42 best graphics) (the average value is Lions Arch at the bank, other cities are 15-25 FPS higher )
PVP : N/A
WvWvW: 34-144 (Highest/Highest settings)

1 Maybe its one of the nicest motherboards, but I do not use all the features. I have no need for some (bluetooth for example, and I am no true overclocker) The 40 PCI-lanes make thing quite a lot simpler though. But the true trick is understanding you get a PCI-E 3.0 ready set, and windows 7 is not. So all people who are thinking they are using PCI-E v3.0 probably are not… at least not on Windows 7, Windows 8 should have native support….
2. Yes that SLI rendering will make a difference, certainly if you do not use the 3d drivers for the 3d-vision goggles. Normally you should get some improvement, you can render 2 frames at the same time wich will improve calculating a on card 1 and showing b on card 2…
3. Stock means 3.2Ghz. Like the box says, with a turbo up to 3.8Ghz like the box says, I have a mid range dcooler, and It will kep it cool so I can play at 3.8Ghz (!) continiously
4. I’m not counting 120 players, I look at the normal framerate using F11 in zerg fights, and in the end: ift will drop a little more than the opriginal frame rate noted above, but the difference with complete full EB zerg fights and the watch I kept a watchfull eye, I do not get below 30, ever.
Oh just a last remark, screens will not show anything above 60 FPS, and if they do you eyes will not go over 25-50 FPS. Only difference is that images will look smoother in 60 hz then they will in 30
Lastly if you do manually put you computer on pci-e v3.0 with windows 7 and you get a new driver, you’ll have to do it again. Yes, you will… Each time. And it sucks, thank Microsoft AND Nvidia for the lack of support. I do not know how ATI does, but I guess the same.

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
