Q:
How wide spread is the log in issue at the moment? I can’t seem to get in for a few hours now? Didn’t see anything on twitter or reddit.
I can’t either… wierd
same. tried a few times on the launcher….then finally got in….but then it sits on the lions arch loading screen. gave up and came here.
hope its fixed soon.
and would like my daily log in reward mailed to me
Took a few times for me to get in as well.
I’ve had problems on and off since reset today. Logging in and changing maps has proved challenging.
Yeah, just tried on my free account that i use for testing builds and general material gathering and crashed while running in wayfarers after 5 minutes. Had hoped to relax a bit with this tonight, but I guess not.
Lots of kicks, re-logins, and now huge, horrible lag in wvw with just getting simple commands to fire off. West coast USA here. Many of my fellow guildies are having same troubles. LA seems to be a real bad spot for getting kicked out of the game.
Today, half the time I change maps, I get disconnected. Had a problem logging in a bit ago, like maybe an hour or less ago. Really makes me aware how many map change screens I go through a day, waiting during each one to see if I make it or get kicked.
Getting disconnects here. I would guess it’s a DOS attack, but could just be a server failure somewhere.
I’m experiencing the same issues as others have mentioned in this thread: the game disconnects quite often when I change maps or enter an instance. Sometimes, after being disconnected, the login screen hangs and I have to try again. Some of my guildies are having the same problems. This seems similar to the issue that happened about a week ago or so.
Had troubles, then it got fixed and I can login, however, without sms on my phone although I have an account secured with that system. I can go in directly, no need for the phone code…. Seems not everything is back on track.
Note: I have trouble only to go in location Noble’s Folly. Everywhere else works for me. And fortunately, I have one of my chars who was not in NF… Lucky!

Hi,
My Hubby and i have some trouble connecting to the game, and if we are able to ‘’ connect’’ we get disconnect at the character select page. We started to have that problem yesterday around 5h p.m eastern time, and the day before, i notice some lag problem as well.
Error code: 7:1000:7006:462
i’ve been having problems with extreme lag and disconnects ever since patch on the 18th. i think it’s possibly server failures on anet’s end.
yep same here! say client can’t connect to servers at moment
I’m also not able to login. The login screen has the “spinner” going around.
There are no less than 5 threads across this forum, the ‘Bugs’ forum, and the ‘Discussion’ forum dealing with this topic. Perhaps, if the threads were merged, the magnitude of the problem might become more evident.
With the topic spread out like this, it gives the impression that the problem isn’t very widespread, when, with all the threads taken together, it appears it’s more pervasive than it may seem.
I think we’d all appreciate it if someone from ArenaNet would give us an update on what’s happening as soon as it’s feasible to do so.
(I’m still having the same issues this morning as I was last night; in fact, logging in is even more difficult.)
And having trouble with the forums as well. Slow loading, and the post to this thread I just made didn’t post.
Constant disconnects game is unplayable, what is going on?
Black Desert and Aion are having the same issue, which is why i’m starting to believe it’s an NCsoft issue.
Hi guys,
We are looking into this issue. If you are still affected, please send us some info that will help us debugging.
1. Your location and ISP
2. open a command prompt and run “tracert cligate-dfw.101.ncplatform.net” if you are on a NA server, run “tracert cligate-fra.101.ncplatform.net” if you are on an EU server. 3. 3. Include the output from step 2 in your reply.
Thank you!

Black Desert and Aion are having the same issue, which is why i’m starting to believe it’s an NCsoft issue.
It could be NCSoft, and that certainly points that way, but it can also be some like a step or two upstream from the NCSoft servers — if their ISP is screwy, it’s gonna hit those games, but not other Internet things.
One of the things the tracert requested above, or the steps in https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network will help isolate is exactly where the issue is — and if it’s someone a little way upstream from NCSoft / ANet servers, help their support team yell at the right people about getting it fixed.
I was getting an occasional ‘Lost connetion’ error over the weekend and again this morning. Here is a trace-route from Albuquerque. Seems like there is a finger pointing at Level 3. (Hop 8 is also Level 3)

I don’t know about that. Tried surfing the web yesterday, and was only able to connect to some websites but not all.
For example, I could not go to msn.com or yahoo.com, foodnetwork.com
But I was able to go to youtube.com which worked perfectly with no problem.
It was like 9/10ths of the internet just decided not to work. Or should say the big name sites weren’t working.
I only recently changed net services to Spectrum Charter last month, but everything was running smoothly until yesterday.
Still net is working fine today, game was tweaking out on switching characters while in game. And Black Desert and Aion are acting like loadup is to much to handle.
I’ve been having issues all day

FWIW, I also had a crash to desktop yesterday while looting Auric Basin. I wouldn’t normally note this in a post that may be unrelated like this, but I’ve literally never had a crash in the game before in 5 years, so it strikes me as worth noting.
Same issue here. “Lost connection with server” error messages popping up even once I can get on. I couldn’t log in for the last 12 hours. I normally auto log in with the password saved under the ‘remember me’ option. I retyped that in and it seemed to help, but of course that could be entirely random.
I was having this issue from about 8:30 PST until I completely uninstalled and reinstalled GW2 on my computer this morning because I was still getting the same errors. I have not had any further issues since reinstalling, although I have noticed the Black Lion TP window is a bit slow to load.
So although mine seems to be fixed, I’ll provide my info anyway in the event that it might be helpful.

Black Desert is not NCsoft, and neither is Elder Scrolls Online which has also been having issues with connecting to their login servers.
Any update on the issue?
And your point? you’ve done nothing to help by quoting information that we all already know. I was asking for any new updated information. Thanks but no thanks.

1.) This stopped only a couple of hours ago, where I was able to connect.

For me, one day later, trouble is still the same: I cannot enter Noble’s Folly, and when I do login, I do not have to give phone code, it goes straight in without it. The security with code sent to phone is not working.

I have GW2 saved to my hard drive, rather than to my solid state drive. I don’t know if that would affect anything.
Hi guys,
We are looking into this issue.
3. 3. Include the output from step 2 in your reply.Thank you!
I am located in Olympia, WA

This has been reported to GMs over and over. I don’t know why we can’t report this fact.
Testing doesn’t change the fact that most traceroutes can’t complete to GW2 servers.

How in the heck is this still not fixed? day two of not being able to play, great work…
After some investigation on the part of our server and network teams, we’ve learned that there was a regional issue that seems to have been the cause of the connectivity issues. Even with players all over the world, there are shared points of connection (such as the data center through which all of us log in) and that can result in issues for a variety of players.
As of about 1:00 AM Pacific this morning, the issue was seen to have been resolved.
If you continue to have issues, please submit a ticket to Customer Support so they can work with you directly.

That’s your ISP with the issue….not ncsoft servers. Notice the time out before it even reaches their servers. I ran mine and I have 1 request time out like yours. I’m on a different ISP (Verizon FiOS) than you.
Gaile said to contact support directly so they could work with you individually. But you may want to check with your ISP first which is what I’ve done.
No, that’s not an issue at all. That Level3 is a router is simply ignoring ICMP traffic. As long as the packet makes it to the final destination with a reasonable latency (64.25.40.114 in this case), you’re almost certainly fine (*see asymmetric paths below).
ICMP is very low priority (and usually rate-limited) for most routers and handled by a rather slow CPU, rather than the ASICs that handle your bog standard network traffic. Don’t expect a low latency or reliable ping to any specific network device. Again, as long as your final destination is reliable with acceptable latency, you’re good to go.

Look at pages 33 through 36. It’s also important to note page 38, but there’s nothing you can do about the return path — it would be up to NCSoft to traceroute to you.
That said, if you contact ANet support, they’ll have you run WinMTR. They’ll base conclusions about latency and “packet loss” on unrelated network devices, e.g. Level3 equipment, but this is just a misunderstanding of the results traceroute/WinMTR is showing us. Again, as long as the final destination packet loss/latency is fine, you’re golden (again as long as that asymmetric path is a non-issue).

Anet as a whole needs to understand that having Level 3 in their networking path is a death knell for all gamers.
Period.
