I received a replacement Green Quaggan backpack set from GW2 support, but never contacted support for this item or any other item. I’m afraid they missed their target. I hope whoever requested the replacement gets theirs.
same here i got one like an hour ago ! wanted to contact support but ended up here

That is correct. If you bought enough gems, you get a backpack and if you bought A LOT of gems, you get a mini as well.
The mini was cool enough to pursuade me to buy a lot of gems. :-)

Hi, I just logged in and received a green quaggan backpack from the GW2 customer support team, though I do not know why. Was this meant for someone else?
It’s the present you get for having bought gems in December, no mistakes were made.
I just logged in to report the same thing. The mail it came in said it was for a replacement. But since it is a gift for a gem purchase I will just say thanks.
A friend has not bought gems in December and has received the backpack.
I’m still waiting for my backpack and Mr Sparkles >_<
I’m just amused that it’s called a “replacement”. Why not just call it an “Appreciation” or “Thank you” gift for purchasing gems?
Ah. Yeah, I knew about the gift for purchasing something during December…but the wording of the email was confusing. I thought it to be a replacement for a lost item..maybe for some other player and GW2 support sent it to the wrong person.

I heard about this in L.A. but noticed i didnt get the backpack. i bought one of those redeem code cards of i think 2,500 gems and used most of those gems for xmas gifts for my guildies… Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

First, thanks for reporting — it is helpful to know of players concerns, even if it turns out to be a known issue.
Second, the message was confusing and we apologize. I sense that waiting to get changes made to the distribution mail would have delayed the delivery, so the devs weighed distributing now with the existing messaging versus waiting to create new messaging, which is a longer project than it may seem.
Judging from the happiness of those who are getting their rewards, coming down on the side of “distribute now” seems a good thing!

Right, as you said, the rewards were given for Gem Store purchases. Buying gems with gold that the game gave you isn’t the same thing as making a purchase in the store. Thanks for understanding.

Would it help if, after the fact, I say we most definitely do appreciate and thank you? Nah, I understand was you are saying and yes, the in-game messaging wasn’t quite as informative as it could have been.

Gem Store purchases, as opposed to exchanges of gold gained in the game for gems. I guess I consider “purchase” to involve, as you say, “real moolah.”

- I’m merely writing to inform you that I just got a Green Quaggan Backpack set from the Customer support, saying it was a replacement item, but I haven’t bought the item or asked for a replacement.
There might be some troubled soul somewhere in Tyria, missing his or her Green Quaggan Backpack set.
- Thought you might want to know.
If you bought gems in December you get it for free as a gift, the message is screwy, but it is yours.
