Unplayable ping
I got DC’ed in Silverwastes twice lol. I’m getting lots of packet loss with the game servers (around 15-18%), although I’m not sure if it’s the servers of arenanet (overloaded perhaps? dropping requests?), or if it’s an ISP problem.
That’s mostly what iv been getting but on an extreme level.
yeah been getting really bad high ping spikes especially in the afternoon/evening
Same, every night my ms triples. This is only to guild wars, nothing else [EU]
Same. Ever since that stupid patch, I’ve been having up to 10k ping and dc’s every 3-5 seconds — I’ve accidentally put an item on sale on the TP and have been unable to cancel the listing because of these stupid errors.
It’s seriously starting to grate on my nerves. If this is what we’re looking forward to with HoT, I’m glad I haven’t purchased it. wtf.
Same here. Lag spikes and unstable ping (between 47 to 1000+). Cant play PvE or WvW.
I just don’t get how they can let this problem go through it obviously not on our end because so many people are having the issue and the worse part is that this is right before the beta weekend which now I will probably miss they should have fixed this as soon as they possibly could and if its not fixed tomorrow I will be quite upset.

Because of how the internet works, a lot of the time it isn’t at their end either, but one of the connecting points between the two. And before you say Anet is still responsible. No, they aren’t. It’s owned by another company, who isn’t Anet’s ISP.
That is why when there is lag issues, they always request a trace route/ping plotter, to show where the issue is. So if it’s at their ISP, Anet can contact them. Or if it’s at their server. Or one of the connection points in between.
As much as people say “Well x game isn’t having lag, so it HAS to be on Anet”. That isn’t how the internet works either. You don’t follow the same path to everything. Sometimes Path A is broken, and Path B is working. Anet doesn’t get to pick which path you take to their servers.
I am not saying this is or isn’t Anet’s issue. I’m saying you need to show WHERE the issue is so the correct people can fix it.

Yeah you may be right about it not being their fault but I actually have done everything they asked for sent them results but nothing has worked. literally everything but none of it has fixed the game for. They did say there is a problem but they can’t pinpoint it themselves.
I did a tracert to one of the EotM IPs (64.25.33.81), and then ping tested each of the hops.

I found out the packet loss starts at the point las-b3-link.telia.net [80.239.161.97]. Here are the ping test results of 80.239.161.97 (telia.net):

My question is, I am in S.E. Asia and connected to the US servers, yet why am I being routed to Europe first, then to the US?
i mentioned this in another post and a post about a week ago when my high almost unplayable ping started, anyway i contacted customer support about this problem and it wasn’t fixed, they said i should contact my isp, its not my internet as i can play other online games and my internet is fast, its just the game, so its definitely on Anet’s end, something there trying/doing, they gotta fix there servers. I’m from the east coast and i have the fastest internet for my area, so it can’t be my end.
Hopfeully this gets fixed before expansion is released.

I am getting high ping and it’s not my internet did a speed test.
It does appear to be on their end as I’ve had performance issues since yesterday. Ran the diag and these are the bad connections

I have the same problem. Game is totally unplayable my ping spikes at 3k-5k. If all these people are having the same problem i’m guessing its there fault. I didn’t have this problem before the patch
I’d recommend people who are being affected contact support and go through their troubleshooting steps. If there is an issue on their end the information they gather will help to troubleshoot and resolve it.

i did go through customer support a few days ago, me and a few gm’s emailed back and forth, but the problem wasn’t resolved, they told me to contact my isp about it, which it wasn’t as only gw2 is having this problems, none of my other online games are having it, and im surfing the web fast as well, east coast here and this has been going on for a week for me and its not fun to play, you lose pvp and you lag so much that doing teq and other world bosses is unbearable, can’t even enjoy the beta 3 with it cuz of the lag.

Agreed.
It can’t be on our part since as people said before, prior to the patch we could play fine. It was only after the patch did we see this high ping/terrible latency, so it must be something they did.
And then there’s the problem with the download of patches lately.
Its the same s…t with every beta or what ever. Every 2 weeks I been getting this problems in the weekend. I Thought it was my PC but it isn’t. Wait for 3 days to pass and you will get back to normal. I start to have this problem from weeks ago probable when they made gw2 for free or when they start patching the game for Hot to test betas. So you can imagine from a week you can play only 4 to 5 days with that lag cause you cant do nothing apart running in empty maps.
However they will say “its not our problem the error that you get its from router , pc , or your Isp”, but if that was true than why I get my connection and ping back to normal after 2 or 3 days without doing nothing. For me its more that or a lot of people are playing now as it is free so the servers and their routers cant hold all that traffic or betas, or lack of maintenance.

That is a question for your ISP.
Can you update your Traces with the IPs BEFORE Hop 6. It would tell me if telia is a link partner or just a transport to Anet. And yes, it does matter.

So;
Mindspring > RR(RoadRunner) > Telia > NCSoft(Anet)
You should contact your ISP and find out if they can test Telia through their RR link partner contract to get the issue fixed. Otherwise, Anet is going to have to contact Telia and have them do the head to head on their end, Since telia is NCSofts Uplink to RR’s Pathing.
