My gw2 account compromised has been compromised and I received an reply from your system stating that; “I was unable to determine that the account was accessed by an unauthorized individual”

My computer has been compromised and I have lost everything. Hundreds of dollars spent on your gems.

My new laptop I purchased and reinstalled this game 2 weeks ago had remote access set to default. Only now this has been uncovered and I am requesting that you please review my case.

You need to put your ticket number in your post for Gaile to easily look it up.

Received another email from their system stating “we must reiterate that we are unable to fulfill your request.”

Remote desktop or what ever you call it or ip spoofing, your system can’t help me.

I can now only hope that other hackers don’t catch on to the fact that there is a new way into peoples accounts that goes undetected by your staff.

edit; It it not a new thing, it has happened before as the person talks about it on this post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/members/Dunyas-8043/showposts

Please can you review.

If you opened your computer to be remotely accessed, that’s just like having a stranger play on your computer in your living room. So it makes sense that Anet cannot assist you, as it’s impossible to determine if the account was truly being played by you, or a hacker.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

Remote administration tools, or RATs, are pretty scary. Once your system is compromised by one of these trojans the hacker responsible gains full control of your PC. Modern RATs are very sophisticated and are not only capable of recording keystrokes (gaining banking information, passwords, reading your communications etc) but able to do super-creepy things like watch you through your webcam, listen through your microphone and view and yes even fully control your desktop. The IP’s of infected systems are freely traded on underground hacking sites, so hundreds of thousands of people may have access to your system. Google it if you want more information.

My sympathies if you were truly infected with one of these. It just goes to show that in this day and age you should never be without a trustworthy antivirus and always be very careful with any questionable files you download. Hope you get everything resolved.

Anet stated many times that they will help if they can prove someone accessed your account. All they can see from your case is your computer logged into your account. Your account wasn’t hacked, your computer was. At this point, it’s on your, and the maker of your laptop if remote access really was the cause of it.

We absolutely cannot see that your account was hacked. In fact, as Ellieanna points out, your account was not hacked, your entire computer was. And because we cannot accurately kitten the situation, and because sometimes such claims are made without merit, our position must be that we can establish without question that the account was indeed compromised. That is not the case in your situation, so with regret, our team cannot assist you.
