connection issues after new build
I am having the same issue as you my friend.
I was just trying to get back in to the game after 2 years away, download downloader-downloader or whatever you wanna call it, and boom downloader downloader cant download.
Connection error(s) detected retrying…. added exception to hosts file, changed DNS to google, sacrificed an xbox controller to the PC masterrace and nothing helps.
UPDATE: My issue was simply fixed by formating the whole SSD and installing windows 10, but might not be the first thing to try….

same here and the dl-speed on my update has just reached a all low 1 Kb/sec
Yes, me and my wife have the connection-error’s. Please fix.
Yeah I cant download the patch either
Yes, me and my wife both have connection error’s. Please fix
Although I haven’t logged in before the new build arrived, It seems to me that I have a similar issue. I cannot download the new build and because of that, I’d reach the character select screen and after that the loading screen and that’s as far as I could go since the client would reset.
Edit: My Internet is fine btw.
Same here. I need to log in so I can buy me some winter clothes!
Same here……….
Forums dead slow as well.
ditto to all of the above
same here unable to connect
aye both me any my gf canno’t connect
At least, you got the patch OP.

Don’t waste anymore time trying to troubleshoot it——It’s Anet not you.
For those still having the issue I found a fix that worked for my on the Guild Wars 2 website
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/93290408-Problems-Downloading-or-Patching
I found that the 3rd IP on the list worked best.
Hope that helped at least one person
same. word from the devs on this?
I’ve been trying to connect all after noon. Suddenly a few minutes ago it connected. Weirdly it’s running at 14 kb/sec to 306 kb/sec.. I have a stupidly fast connection so I’m guessing Anet’s getting DDos’d again or something else has choked up the line.
Same issue, unable to connect to game. I tried on 3 different connections, all have the same issue.
I have the same problem too. Looks like I’m going to have to miss my EU guild’s RP event. I tried logging in several times between 10:30 am to 11:15 am Pacific Time.
I can’t log in to my NA account or my EU account right now.
You are not the alone. Still problems whit the server
I’m having the same problem. I used the link posted by Robbie and changed the ip in the launcher by following the instructions. The patch is now downloading at approx. 45kb/s lol But, I was able to get in game without the patch having to finish. Once in game, it seems to be running fine.
What did the trick for me was keeping the game client (still showing the connection error message) running in the background. The patch download started within 5-10 minutes.
I hope that helps.
edit: I advise doing the IP-thing mentioned in somebody else’s post earlier, as it happens to speed up things significantly.

Not sure if this is related to the current problem. I thought I should mention this:
There has been dcd problems on EU megaserver since Saturday. My guildies and I were randomly dcd during our RP events. The dcd became more frequent during yesterday morning’s meetup (Well, morning in the Pacific timezone. Evening in the UK timezone). Everyone in my guild experienced the same problem. At one point, we all dcd at the same time!
My EU account is kta.7630 (Piken Square homeworld).

Used the exact IP as in the example and now it works, the patch is downloading at full speed. EU server.
EDIT: However, download speed falls to 40 kbps after about 100 MB :/

What he said^ plus this:
1) edit the shortcut like this “E:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80
2) then keep trying IPs from the list http://gw2status.de/
3) wait for the patcher or play

^ This worked for me :D
Why won’t ANET communicate connectivity errors they are obviously aware of?
A short message, but clear, on the updater would solve so much dismay.
Another example would be to just simply explain how they allocate bandwidth. I’m currently downloading the patch at a small fraction above dial up speeds.
