Been having this issue as well. going to be uploading my network.diag results as well.

Procedures I’ve exhausted:

  • Port forwarding – All needed ports
    – Even tried DMZ and direct connection.
  • Creating another GW2 shortcut for -repair purposes.
  • Re-installing the GW2 game client
  • Toggling WAP features
  • Logging on from a different PC
  • Logging on from another network
    *Most if not ALL of the technical troubleshooting procedures.

How many Network report do you need to identify a problem? 2 millions?

Since ANet doesn’t control any of the dozens of servers that exist between you and them, many of these reports are going to involve problems that have NOTHING to do with ANet.

If someone else controls a server between you and them and that server is down, there’s NOTHING ANet can do to resolve that issue if they can’t route around.

Been having this and a few other disconnections lately, and tonight was by far the worst in a long time. Tracing the route kept showing +700 to over 1000 on the game’s server hops.

Had been disconnected with the usual error codes. Have reset the router several times. Flushed the DHCP and renewed, even flushed the DNS cache on my wireless NIC (5.5 Mbps). No one has the ability for a wired connection on this network.

Had been using OpenDNS servers:
DNS 1: 208.67.222.222
DNS 2: 208.67.220.220

And only recently decided to try Google’s DNS servers:
DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
DNS 2: 8.8.4.4

Just changed the DNS server IPs just before posting this. Due to the nature of the routers here, static IPs are not an option. As such Port Forwarding is not going to happen.

Ran the diagnostic. Hopefully the DNS server change will help. If not am at the mercy of the internet connections.

This is a joke. My internets been fine for months, and so has guild wars 2, playing for hours a day in the busyest maps with no problems, even on a 60kbps internet connection. A few months ago I upgraded to a connection about 5 times that fast, got a spanking new router, and Guild Wars 2 ran brilliantly for 2 months. Ever since I tried to enter fractals ( and WvWvW) a few days ago I’ve been DCing every 5 minutes. I’ve tried your stupid fixes, using/clientport 80, and your customer service aren’t even polite enough to answer my polite requests that they look at the problem, despite the fact that access to customer service is advertised on the GW2 box. The game is unplayable, and hundreds of people I’ve met in game agree. Do something about it.

Just a question for everyone else who has this issue.

Do any of you run Windows 7 64 bit? Are any of you running the OS on an SSD, and have changed programfilesdir in HK_LOCAL_MACHINE – Software – Microsoft – Windows ?

I do this so nothing installs on my main C drive except Windows updates, as I only have a 120gb SSD for my C drive, and a 500GB drive for everything else. Changing programfilesdir has caused me some problems before, mostly with re-installing internet explorer, and with Games for Windows Live. Just thought it is possible that it has some relevance here as well, and wanted to see how many of us experiencing the problem have also done this.

This issue is definitely server side and definitely affecting a lot of players. stuff like this is why no one else can hang with blizzard… this game is so much better. I just started getting this error earlier today. i make it about 30 seconds tops in game before it boots me. none of these client 80 fixes or anything fixes it. i ran it absolutely fine until now.

the support this issue has received, from what i can tell, is terrible. these posts are months old… get on it already.

My wife and I were able to conduct our first seat-swap test of this error this weekend. As usual, I was playing completely lag free when she suffered lag and a 7:11 disconnect. We immediately traded places, and I logged into my account from her machine and she logged into hers from mine, and we continued playing. On her machine, I experienced absolutely no lag. On my machine, she experienced some minor lag, but was not disconnected again.

Results: Inconclusive, but hinting at the validity of the idea that this lag is server-side and account-linked, seeing as how all lag disappeared on her machine simply by switching to using my account. I will post again when another opportunity for a test presents itself.

Getting disconnected a lot since yesterday..

I cant complete the mission “Forging the Pact (62)” because of it.

The mish starts fine, then a bit of lag starts…then the lag turns into to rubberbanding..and then…it totally stops responding…and after a few seconds of anxiety and panic…i get kicked.

Plz someone nail this..its getting pretty frustrating.

So basicly… Arenanet hates us and we should all uninstall….

I’m starting to get a little frustrated with this, Iv been home sick for a week, couped up in the house, where I’d normally play some GW2 etc… but I can hardly play it.. so guess who’s spent the past few days uninstalling re-installing, trouble shooting every possible aspect.. and nothing helps? I would feel alot better if they made some kind of indication that they were working on the issue, honestly this is my first issue with the game (have had it for all of a week) and all I see is the company not doing anything to help people. Horrible first impression…. so I hope someone from them steps in soon, this is a great game and I’d love to play it.. but it’s already trying my patience dealing with them.

This is what fixed the code 7 issue for me way back in october..
Create a shortcut for guild wars 2, under properties you have a box called “Target” or “goal” or something similiar, it should be pointing towards your GW2.exe file.
Change this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\GW2\Gw2.exe”
To this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\GW2\Gw2.exe” /clientport 80

So simply add /clientport 80 at the end, best of luck!

If it helps solve this issue I have noticed in task manager, the memory usage drastically increases (almost double) what it is when I’m playing with no issues..

If you are getting the error code 7 I suggest doing what the first post in that thread suggests. It might help them come up with a fix if they don’t already have one ready.

Regardless of how many PCs they have in their testing arsenal, they aren’t going to catch every bug. But you can help them by giving them the info they are seeking. The more info they have, the sooner they will be able to resolve the problem.

I’m getting the exact same error. I can’t complete ‘Forging the Pact’ mission because it starts lagging and eventually it kicks me. I have tried twice with the same results. Elsewhere in the game it works fine. Even between the two trial missions I played on several other maps and it was fine.

I threatened the same thing in a tech support ticket and finnaly got a “were working on it” response… but that was probably because I said I was going to demand a refund if they wouldn’t at least let people know they were trying to fix it….so I who knows if they really are or just said it.

All I know is there typical response “it’s your computer” “it’s your internet” is utter bullturds and they know it.. thousands of people having this issue all day every day, but can play fine on any other game, it’s clearly not on our end as much as they want to pretend.

Someday someone will make an MMO, and they will actually provide real customer support and actually work WITH the customers…and we will finally have a truly good online game… issues would be fixed in manageable time, etc.

I can say one thing tho, if this was a game I had to pay a sub to I would A) not be so patient with their crappy CS/TS and not pay them a single dime. It’s unacceptable that this issue is still happening after 4+ months. Makes me wonder, I belive this company is based in Washington? (what I heard, idk if thats state or DC) either way..thats in America… all those people with no jobs and they wont hire people who would probably gladly work minimum wage to provide support for people? Pay me $10 an hour to sit in a chair and talk to people on forums or a phone line… win/win/win for everyone

I’m getting the same issue. It started about a week ago, but any time around midday the game will lag where I can walk around but I cannot interact with anything. After a second or two of this it boots me and shows me error 7. This happens anywhere in the world and happens repeatedly, every 10 minutes or so.

Well, I’ve started to run in to this issue now too.
Oddly enough, it only happens after about 6-7 PM PST. Lagging in game, and disconnecting after a bit. I’m lucky if I can stay online for about 10-15 minutes.
Quite annoying to be honest. Can’t do a single event, dungeon, fractal or PS at night, when I actually have time to play.

I have the same issue and it is not on my end I am getting 15 megs dl and 4 upload my antivirus is off and my firewall is off and I have port forwarded my router. Why can’t you fix that “common Error 7” since it is “common”? I, like many others, payed 55 euro’s for a game that does not work because of a " common" Error.
I understand that I already bought the game, so why would you fix the “common Error”? The money is already yours.

But still, I have faith in you ArenaNet. I still believe you want to fix that “common Error 7”. For now I feel beat up, cheated and run over by a car, with you ArenaNet as the driver. i found out that my network printer is a problem as well.
Cable in the router —--disconnects starting
cable out —-— disconnects gone …

Unfortunately, when I get Error 7 on my laptop playing GW2, my wifi is disconnected.
My other laptop is still connected to the internet and doesn’t experience connection issues.
I even switched from wifi to direct cable to router, still crashed, other computer still connected
I then switched from direct connection to router to direct connection to modem, still crashed, other computer still connected.

So it’s NOT my router
It’s NOT my modem
It’s NOT my ISP

IT IS GW2

I just bought the game 2 days ago, 1st day I log on, play for hours no problems. Now I can’t even play for more than 10secs w/o getting this error. It’s pretty annoying. I don’t know what to do. I’m regretting buying this game if this error has been going on for months and no fix.

Oh and here is my diag. note. Please get this fixed. I’ve tried all the troubleshoots out there and nothing has fixed this problem.

I’ve played this game now for two weeks with no problems, and now when the new patch came I can not log in to my one character without that comes up, I will not even enter on a map

Dear ArenaNet,

Why can’t you fix that “common Error 7” since it is “common”? I, like many others, payed 55 euro’s for a game that does not work because of a " common" Error.
….

Europe has a two years “defects liability”. So just return it to the shop. If you bought it on buy.guildwars.com just type “refund” in the support query.
