BSoD While Patching/Installing
when your PC BSOD’s there is a stop Code and Faulting Module. Do you happen to have both of those?
I assume the BCCode is your stop code of 0×0000001e, but with out the faulting module being present 1e can literally be anything from bad RAM, faulty CPU, Failing Driver, or a .sys/.dll file.

Sounds like you may have a corrupt windows file and/or driver install.
I would recommend reinstalling your graphics drivers and try a Windows file verify (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/verify-the-integrity-of-windows-vista-system-files/).

Assuming you overclocked your CPU, the 0×1E would represent increasing vcore. That is assuming you have overclocked.

Currently reinsalling Guild Wars 2 again, hopefully I’ll remember to write that down.

Have tried uninstalling and getting the latest version last night, still crashed.

But overclocking while installing the game? Is there anyway to temporary increase or disable the limit?

and unstable overclock can hit at anytime. And with how CPU intensive GW2 is, compared to other applications, unstable OC’s usually hit pretty often and quick in GW2.
If you ARE overclocking, I really hope you are testing with Prime95 for a good 2-3 hours after you do the stable 2min Core Test after every OC notch.

What are you overclocking Too? I once Overclocked a 830 to 5.1Ghz running the RAM, HT, and NB-CPU at 1100Mhz. If I would bump the Ram to 1333, HT/NB to 2200Mhz I could not get it stable above 4.1Ghz.
And if you are pushing high OC’s on that chip have you testing your CPU Temps? CoreTemp is best for that.

I have no idea, if I knew I wouldn’t be here asking. I was just trying to know what that is since the previous poster implied that I might have it.

It has been two months or so since I last got my BSoD, and that was with my older graphic card, since I changed it, I’ve never gotten any BSoD while playing any game. Also, I usually play GW2 with medium to high setting, so I don’t think simply installing the files would cause it to crash.

If you are overclocking, you would know exactly what you are overclocking to. Which is not the case.
Can you download CPU-Z, run it and take a screenshot on its First tab so We can verify that someone else didnt OC your system for you :-)

Here you go.
OK good your not overclocking.
After GW2 is reinstalled, run it and if you get a BSOD again record the Stop code and faulting Module.

ah didnt see this. No installing files should NOT crash/BSOD your system. BUT if you had a dying CPU or Memory going bad, that could happen.

Have you verified your windows files using the link I provided?

BSoD yet again, but I don’t find the faulting module numbers on it, is there other places where I can find it?

I’m not sure which of the file to scan, so I did the second option. Here’s the result:
did you reboot like the system told you, after the SFC finished?

New BSoD and new error codes, looks like some of the more important info is shown.

That is a driver fault. Dlink to be precise. Update or remove the Dlink Driver and see if that helps (Dlink is usually a Wireless card, they do make Hard wired Nics too though.)
Are you not using your Onboard NIC?

So I did a little research, my D-Link driver is up-to-date, kinda, since the last update to the wireless card was 6 years ago…
Get a new card maybe?
Also, what’s an Onboard NIC?
NIC = Network Interface Card. Usually mother boards come with a 10/100 or 10/100/100 port to plug in a wired connection.

Then no, I’m currently using a USB wireless adapter that’s 7 years or older.
If I were to change to a new wireless adapter, what brand would you guys suggest?
netgear for cheapness. But that is the problem, the aging card, End of Life Driver support.
Time to drop 10 bucks on a new cheap-o Card.

Netgear or ASUS seem to be the current go-to for home users. Your motherboard will have a spot on the back of the case to plug in a network cable directly, so in the meantime you can simply uninstall the drivers and remove the DLink USB dongle and use direct connection. Then when you purchase a new dongle, whatever the brand, you can go back to wireless.

But would you mind kindly explain how that affects the download of GW2 and eventually crashing? Is it because the amount of data that needed to be downloaded that crashed the driver? Or something else?
Also, I would like to buy a USB wireless adapter that lasts at least 5 more years, would Asus adapters fit that requirement, or any other brands? I don’t trust Rosewell’s products, since I’ve had a few short-life items from them.
And yeah, I’m a regular Newegg customer, was just browsing through the products there.

Unfortunately my living place would not allow me to get internet wire across the house, guess I’ll have to wait a week without GW2…
Honestly you can get ANY usb adapter and so long as it doesn’t “die”, it can last an uncertain amount of time.
As far as your issue you were having, DLink drivers are known for their conflicting issues with different hardware and software setups, not too much you can do about that, so don’t sweat it.
For brands though, if you want to go ASUS you can, if you want to go Netgear, really whatever you want to grab honestly. I would look at Wireless-N or Wireless-AC though, just in case you happen to move and an area offers either of those.

It could be a number of things. and with out being there to ‘see’ it happen its almost impossible to say with 100% certainty.
But, if your USB Card is that old. It could be heat causing the cards Chipset to ‘lock’ I/O for long enough to throw a driver exception, causing Windows to Dump due to TCP/IP Stack Timeouts.
You are downloading 16GBytes of Data on that card. That alone will cause it to heat up (SYN/ACK makes network cards very warm when it goes constantly for a long time), and if the card is heat sensitive that could be causing the card to ‘go offline’ to the OS which could be throwing your BSOD.

Alright, thanks for the explanation and thank you all who replied to this thread.
Will make a purchase for a new adapter asap.
