Try disabling afterburner and see what happens, see if your frame rate go up.

Unfortunately, disabling Afterburner has no effect on my fps.

Bump, still having these significant issues
i7 4770k Haswell 4.8GHz GTX 780 16Gb DDR3
After completely uninstalling, and cleaning with Driver Sweeper and CCleaner, the graphics drivers, and updating my processor chipset drivers, still no luck. Could really use a response here

There are a LOT of people with this issue, but most have given up on trying to fix it. Most people will probably say “overheating” or “PSU faulty” but its just the game. Anet seems to ignore that this issue exists as there are people who have had this for months. There is no known fix for it yet. And support wont be much help either.
So for now, your in the same boat as me. Cant play at all.
It’s just really strange that it happened suddenly with no hardware nor software changes in between. I just woke up, and my PC was crashing after a few minutes in game. After cleaning out the rig and everything else I’ve stated, I’m not getting anywhere with the new insanely low fps.

Gunnar’s Hold.
Well, I can’t even play on low… I mostly WvW, which has been completely unplayable with my framerates as of late. I guess I’ll just keep waiting and bumping until a red post appears.

I guess as a last resort you could reformat and reinstall windows. Then install all updated drivers from the hardware manufacturers web site don’t use the driver CDs that came with the hardware then update drivers get latest and install. Next install Windows Security essentials for anti virus, then install the game. If this doesn’t fix your problem then it is a hardware issue.

Yeah, a hardware issue is what I’m afraid of, although my temperatures wouldn’t point to that being the case. I’m downloading Windows now to reinstall, while it has never failed to fix my issues, we’ll see where it goes.

I know that feeling. Just take a look at the following thread and you will know: Your are not alone :/

It is crashing after 10 hours of playing, right at the beginning, after 10 minutes, after “reaching” the character menu, while talking to the arah dungeon merch…
Maybe try my first solution and “underclock” your gpu.
Greetings from germany
Oh, I have tried underclocking through MSI Afterburner. It really didn’t do much. At this point, it’s mostly an issue of huge FPS loss over crashing drivers, although the drivers do tend to crash. I am now going to reinstall Windows to see how that goes.
Danke

It is not your hardware, dont worry.
Well, after reinstalling windows, and updating the graphics driver and DirectX, my fps has increased by a small amount. I haven’t even restarted from the first boot nor after installing the graphics drivers, so things look good. I’m just waiting on a ton of updates to finish through Windows Update, then I’ll see where things are.

Don’t forget the motherboard drivers these are commonly over look or forgotten to check for updates.

Ok, after some further examination, I have determined the problem is my processor. I will start another thread to clear up some confusion.
