I have been getting this message from time to time (especially on busy maps like Lions Arch and WvW). I was wondering what could be done to prevent it without compromising too much of the graphics. I know there are some posts about this already but I do want to point out that my graphics card isn’t terribly bad which is what makes me wonder about what needs to be done to run the game at around medium to high settings.

Looks like you only have 3GB of RAM in your machine. You’re running out of RAM to play the game. If I were you I would upgrade to a 64-bit OS and buy some more RAM that is compatible with your machine. 32-bit OS can only support up to 4GB and even then it rarely allows the use of all 4GB. What processor are you using? Your graphics card is not the issue. You can try lowering the texture settings since my sibling’s computer can run GW2 with only 2GB of ram, but the textures are set lower.

If u have 4gb of physical RAm and a 32bit OS then u will only ever have access to about 3.XXGb ram ..that shared with all other processes doenst leave much for GW2. You could try turning of all other non critical processes to free up used ram so GW2 can have a biigger share ..but my main advice would be to ‘aquire’ a 64bit OS.

If the motherboard and CPU are PAE Enabled, a 32-Bit OS can take up over 4 GB of RAM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_Extension

From what i know of it ..that requirs a patch/hack for Windows ..at which point if ur going to go that far u might aswell ‘aquire’ wink wink Windows 7 64bit :P

PAE has been built into Windows 32-Bit since Windows 98SE. Linux, even longer.

That said, AION gives Out of Memory when I install it via the NCSoft launcher on 64-bit Windows 8 with 16 GB of RAM.

Yes i know PAE is inbuilt BUT.. Windows 32bit has limitations within it stoping more than 4gb being available. PAE is their ..its just not be fully utilized.
im no expert on this topic tbh but just from that link u posted alone i read this.
(I hate qouting Wikipedia ..its not always accruate)

“Microsoft Windows implements PAE if booted with the appropriate option, but current 32-bit desktop editions enforce the physical address space within 4 GB even in PAE mode”

Hi guys, thanks for the quick responses.

To those who were wondering about my RAM, I have

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 × 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (lol copy pasted)

I guess the easiest (but somewhat costly) option for me would be to buy 64-bit since I’m no expert on things like this

One thing though, I assume that by upgrading to 64-bit, the game should work smoothly? Or would there be a need for me to allow the use of all the physical RAM?

The need is clearly to actually use the hardware you paid for(the full 8GB instead of only 3) and get GW2 running properly. You will get access to GW2´s high-res textures only in 64bit!

If you ask me it´s plain false advertising that GW2 runs on 32bit. It has just too many issues (as you´re experiencing).

And upgrading to Win7 64bit is entirely free for anybody with the 32bit Version!
You just have to download the appropriate ISO from Microsoft, burn and install it(overwriting the old system), then register with the code from your old 32bit copy.
Hope you didn´t loose it.

In the mean time your only option is to decrease the screen resolution you´re playing GW2 in. At least for WvW, it doesn´t seem to be such a big problem in normal PvE.
Switching to low textures isn´t an option IMHO. Game just looks too terrible.

Indded ..8gb of RAm on a 32bit OS is a total waste ..your barely using 4gb of RAM
Download the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and install that. it should then allow all 8gb of ur RAM to be used and stop GW2 from crashing due to memory issues.
