Just for the record BG you have a history of going feral on guilds that decide to move but stay within T1. Leave them alone and move on – guilds come and go all the time, after all its just a game and everyone has different goals and motivations to play.

Some of you need to step away and remind yourselves of that and stop with the personal attacks.

A majority of Blackgate will miss MERC and wishes them the best; it’s unfair for you to accuse an entire server of disrespecting a guild for their choice on where they feel their guild should be.

Now, it’ll definitely be tough for Blackgate during Oceanic but we’ve gotten through way worse situations…

Drama before they’ve even fully transferred, the leadership get a personal ty of 15k gold between them and never told the members that went with them, on top of not sharing the initial full 30k now that we’re told they got that was to be fully shared among members to help with the costs of moving.

The German guild that moved recently were bought for a lot lot less…

I’ve certainly enjoyed MERC’s stay on BG…running with Tarkus/Ralikh/Fury during the summer when I just stayed up all night was a lot f fun, and listening to Crimson always made for a good laugh. Furthermore, I heavily respect the amount of effort and time they put into making BG’s Oceanic and SEA as strong as possible.

With that being said, I understand the rest of BG’s feelings of betrayal and anger. The transfer was a complete surprise to almost the entirety of BG, and the timing of the transfer is incredibly inopportune with seasons right around the corner. Additionally, the transfer was to JQ, which is obviously a serious T1 rival. Lastly, with JQ’s recent guild acquisitions, many on BG thought that the week JQ and BG fought during seasons was going to be truly epic. With MERC leaving BG suffers a near-crippling blow to Oceanic presence, and a greatly diminished SEA, while JQ makes those two zones incredibly strong. That JQ v BG week doesnt look so epic anymore.

Regardless, BG will stay strong, and our remaining Oceanic’s will have to be resilient and persevere. I will miss all my MERC friends and the late night raids, good luck on JQ, and sincerely hope we crush you come seasons. =)

So, what’s the truth now?
- MERC transferred over with 100 people
- MERC transferred over with 15 commanders and other people
- MERC plays OCX only

- MERC started world war 1 and is responsible for the leaning tower of Pisa

It’s really confusing. Especially when you read lines from BG players that say “you can’t leave a T1 server for another”. Would never happen on BG or SoR.

I wish MERC fun on our cute little T1 server and BG enough gold to buy some guilds. Your history shows that you can do that!

If you know about the story within and it happened to the guild on your server, you wouldn’t have said that. But leave it to the officers if they want to make everything public I don’t recommend that tho. He’s already made himself looks like a joke.

This guy gets it. They went there to PvD, that’s it. Watch out SoR, JQ might try to cannibalize what competition is left in that timezone even more.

Also the FEAR guild on JQ is MERC. Look at the guild name.

The game is not about numbers and blobs or about a single guild or person. It is about the community, good commanders and people having fun playing together wanting to play more. We saw that with Tequatl when Blackgate opened its Teamspeak server to help other servers and also when we guested to those servers to teach people the fight.

Blackgate has an unbelievable group of top commanders and players making up one of the best communities in the game. Some wvw TS channel are so fun to listen to because they match great tactics with some real fun commentaries by people I would personally love to meet in real life.

There are too many great people/guilds I would love to name here but in the end what matters is not being ultra competitive and very tight, it is about the image you project to the community and how you benefit that community. Blackgate has a great community and we seem to focus more on the fun part of the game and the community as a whole than on pure single-minded hardcore competition. that focus on fun helped us become the number one server when others were focusing on numbers and hardcore guilds.

Its the quality of the community as a whole that made Blackgate the number one server in wvw and in pve. This is why guild transferring away for personal reasons are irrelevant as there will always be attrition. As long as the community is made of great people the server will shine and people will want to play on it. That s just my opinion.

@Monsoon, I think your right. But a slight bit of complacency or a bad turnout from BG and JQ would beat them. At least leagues is right around the corner, we won’t be facing our two biggest competitors every week and we can take a break to avoid burning out. I think the biggest loser from JQ buying up guilds is SOR as I think SOR will have a hard time beating them when matched in leagues and they will lose their second spot ranking to JQ and end in third. SOR has a stronger EU, but everything is going to be paper for them during this timezone now. But who knows, things can change but thats where I see things being atm.

The last couple of pages have been the best reads I’ve had on the forum, probably ever.

I’m sympathetic to the people who feel betrayed, don’t get me wrong, but I should have had to pay to read this it’s so good.

(I actually never thought we were going to win anyway [ I mean if SoR/JQ didn’t 2v1 BG into third place during Leagues they’d be doing Leagues wrong ] , so any hits to our roster don’t really bother me.)

Good fights in TC bl tonight in EU prime so far. Love to see guilds running on their own looking for fights. With more EU guilds coming to NA this should hopefully be a more comon sight.

I don’t feel obligated to agree with/sympathize with/respect/agree with in any way MERC’s decision to move to JQ. Any other server (minus SoR) would have been fine. Considering the transfers that have been pouring into the tier though (and the transfers off that BG has been having), it’s little more than a reach for the easy way through leagues. It’s bandwagoning plain and simple. It’s betrayal.

As much as I used to respect Tarkus and the rest, and appreciate the work they did for us, this pretty much nullifies it all. You should have moved to T2 like RISE if you wanted a “challenge.” A few more moves like this off of BG/SoR and/or to JQ and it becomes HoD v3.0, the old JQ being v2.0. So I hope the boredom is worth the money.

and took some 10 people with him, and has IM’d multiple others. We’re probably gonna hit up an EU server, this NA stuff is a joke.

So RISE and MEOW landed in FA permanently, coolbeans, I just saw one of them note yesterday that they weren’t done yet. So …

It’s actually quite a compliment when mag’s comes to the thread… and laughs genuinely. No trolling at all.

Don’t get me wrong, Chuu had his reasons, he’s tired of TC. We enjoyed when he was here though, but have many others commanding always. TC full of RPers to fill the boots, and I’m sure we can find someone who wants to role play a WXP conductor.

Far as I know, there hasn’t been any talk of CERN going anywhere. Chuu Chuu and some other former CERN folk left for JQ, one of which got pretty huffy about it, which is regrettable.

As someone who has run with you all a lot, being an oceanic SOS original, I understood your reasons for leaving SOS for Blackgate, but to leave a strong healthy server for a direct competitor so close to the start of season one just feels like a massive betrayal.

I hope you enjoy your pvdoor and easy mode stacked time zones.

Sorry this move has upset so many. This move was about the guild, not the server. As the guild did not want to step down servers that leaves 2 choices, because t2 and under does not provide the action the guild wants. Assumptions, flaming, accusations while making for interesting reading, does not help or change anything. It’s a game play it like one, to have fun. My best wishes to BG. Dred.

As the guild did not want to step down servers that leaves 2 choices, because t2 and under does not provide the action the guild wants. i don’t have anything against MERC leaving they can do what they want with their time.

what i do have a problem with is with how deep one servers’ pockets are to just buy an entire tier 1 population worth of guilds. an unconfirmed number i heard being thrown around was in the neighborhood of 30k gold.

i can understand everyones desire to win and be competitive in t1, and all the tier 1 servers can point fingers at each other for “stacking”, but this is beyond absurd now.

season 1 should be earned, not bought.

There’s even less action than when MERC was on BG, you must realize that, right? JQ ticked for kitten this morning. So much competition though.

Also, if you weren’t expecting this backlash, you’re delusional. Not only are people weirdly passionate about games, and even sports ( this is nothing compared to sports drama ), you left to a rival server without so much as a goodbye, apparently.

You (MERC) must’ve known how FUBAR that transfer was, and that’s probably why you never gave anyone warning. Which kind of bit you in the kitten because people just feel more offended.

But! If the things said in this thread are true, this is the juiciest the forums been in a long time.
