As for double-teaming… it is a legitimate tactic and one that any server needs to have a response to if they are double teamed. Improvise, adapt and overcome… don’t whine about it. Course, when you team up with another server to attack a third, you run the risk of coming out in last place like Ehmry Bay is seeing right now. Didn’t quite work out for them like they were hoping, did it? May make them think better next time of allowing another server to get the upper hand in an alliance.

You don’t think EB can pull out ahead of SBI here? I think there’s still plenty of time for that, especially with SBI’s dwindling participation in WvW.

Hell, EB just took Lowlands. SBI is ticking pretty low right now.

This week’s match has proven to be very interesting. It shows that when 2 evenly matched server get paired the 3’d weakest party can be a very effective king maker.

The question is , is this a good thing or bad thing? I see both side of the story. It is good because it gives smaller world a reason to go and play with the big boys. On the other hand it’s bad because the out come of a match up depends more on deals with other servers rather than your own server’s play, it make it into more like a survivor kind of situation.

What do you guys think?

I think it’s another demonstration of how disadvantageous it is to be in the 2nd place position in wvw.

You can see a role-reversal from the prior SBI/YB matchup timeline (http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/40/119) which shows the same phenomenon.

The contributing factors are not hard to see for people with wvw experience.

1. The first place server is only threatened by the 2nd place server. This makes it more profitable for the first place server to take the 2nd place server’s structures (because it widens the gap more than taking territory from 3rd).

2. The third place server plays smartest when it attacks the 2nd place server for two reasons:
a. Taking structures from 2nd narrows the gap between 2nd and 3rd most, which makes it more likely for 3rd to catch up.
b. The 2nd place server typically has fewer numbers and worse upgrades (especially waypoints), so its structures are easier to capture than 1st.

In response to those factors, it’s hard to rally your players to show up to fight an uphill battle.

ANet could do more to make it fun and rewarding to play while in 2nd place, but a comeback from 2nd to 1st is terribly difficult as it stands.

In our prior face-off, SBI came out incredibly strong on reset night and YB’s morale was low after getting roflstomped by FA. Additionally, SBI gave us a real education on the value of capping-for-the-tick.

In this match, YB played a stronger reset night and rallied in response to SBI’s monday-morning counteroffensive.

Indeed and you guys have played it well. I think most people expected this to be a faceroll match where they could just ktrain the week away and to their dismay YB and Ebay came out in force and brought their A game. It has been a great weeks for fights, and I’ve been having fun in EB trying to keep our camps

Actually I think most of the dedicated wvw peeps on SBI are having a blast this week. Hardly any queue if one at all and darn good fights all around.

Having said that… It IS still insulting to lose to yaks. BECAUSE SBI IS a better, stronger, more organized server. We not winning at the moment… But not because we didn’t open the week with a huge lead… not because of supply wasting trolls… definitely not because Yaks is better….
But because we are fielding 50% of what we normally do. EBG is almost ALWAYS a 1 hour que… there is no que.. SBI BL is normally QUED.. again.. no que.. The other 2 BL’s are normally medium que.. also… NO QUE.

We are missing ALOT of players. Yet still yaks wants to talk smack like they’ve beaten us straight up. They talk as if They have overcome the big RED SBI MACHINE.
They haven’t. They been beating up on pugs, militia and a handful of Die hard WvW guys.

So its nothing to be proud of but, by all means… brag away lol.

I’m not being egotistical here, I’m being Honest.
Yaks cannot beat SBI with what they have to bring to the table under any other circumstances than SBI being outmanned.

I cannot wait until the next time we meet again…

Yes! Let’s not forget the commanders, good job to those who tag when the times are tough. Haven’t seen so many shy comm’s since our bout with SoR.

Aside from the obvious flame text, it was an amazing fight. Bigs up YB for being annoying pricks with your SW camp siege and Ebay for not giving up on their keep. You guys had us outmanned but that port up the wall allowed us to wipe a good chunk of your forces. After that, you guys went up the wall and didn’t set up a choke, jumping down instead at the cost of your back line. But you guys didn’t repeat that mistake when we pushed against your AC on the wall, you guys choked us to death, wiping most of us and our commander, good move there and YB as well for finishing us off pushing into Lord’s from the supply hut. Bonus footage: [ZoD] pushing right into a death sandwich after turtling inside Bay for ages.

Also massive amounts of respect to YB. After getting our good friends from [SE], they got past any population imbalances between our servers and pushed hard, building momentum and taking advantage of it. I’m not a PPT hero but still, nice outcome for the season.

Need to learn from YB and put siege everywhere we take if you want to have chance against them, whenever we face them next.

Need to get some people who have lots of free time to just sit on hills and bay trebs and spam #1 on camps/towers all day all night.

If anything, SBI trained us to fight SBI.

Also, that S Camp hut is easy to Shadowstep into (even on accident) and you have to WP out. It’s not a real good strategic spot, but it does give something for people to make themselves feel better about their losses.

That would be Tier 2. Tier 1 guilds lose to a third their number quite regularly. The best ones lose to a fourth. Under siege support. =P

It helps when there’s a third server (EB) that doesn’t roll over and play dead (IOJ) for SBI to take advantage of also.
