GW2: Tier 1 Server Leader Meeting

A push week is a week where everyone pushes. This is us creating our own version of Seasons. Including the creation of a graphic or something as a trophy for us to pass around. No one wants another 9 weeks season. Even 4 straight weeks is too much OT. One thing Anet certainly did well with EotM is the short 3 hour matches. It’s much healthier game play than the 24/7 of WvW.
I’d much rather see push days and/or push time zones. Either way, it’s everyone involved in creating a better game experience.
For that purity comment, everything in life ends up being a give and take. You simply cannot win all the time and expect the game to continue being played. Fore the ultimate win in such a game is to simply stop playing.
Man the elitism is off the charts in this thread with some people. Despite what people on BG seem to think, there haven’t been rotating push weeks since the period between season 1 and season 2. JQ gave them up because we realized we have no on or off switch since we’re always out there playing. What there have been are weeks where one server pushes, the other two play like always, and then the next week that server doesn’t push and the other two still play the same game and it looks like the other two are doing pushes.

One thing T1 has become good for is refining the type of play we do as large groups of players in this game. You learn something about how to play your classes and your characters in coordination with a group playing this hard.
As T1 guilds and commanders migrate to lower tier servers, you’ll see a difference.

tier playstyle? alive?
WvW is interesting.
Some of us don’t have the time to listen to 44 mins of talking, or can’t access Youtube for one reason or another. No harm in seeing if there’s a transcript or “important highlights” available; some podcasts have transcripts available for this exact reason.
Can do!
T1 should
1) work on keeping all time zones balanced, not just overall ppt.
2) organize cross-server push weeks, and other events. Rather than separate scheduling.
3) in general act like friends playing a game together, rather than fighting a war of extermination.Basically this. It’s a way of opening up communication between servers to better understand each other to prevent misunderstandings in order to prevent the mistakes of the past, so we can keep T1 healthy and fun for everyone
For those wondering about the people in the channel, BG’s leadership is literally just the GM and officers of every WvW guild and some WvW active PvX guilds. TC has a rotating leadership and JQ has a council of sorts similar to BG. Most servers have some form of this. T1 just takes it to the next level in order to organise ourselves in order to maximise our effectiveness on the field and internally. It’s not for everyone, as such a structure was made to PPT, but it does help with providing a more stable leadership
Cheers for the summary. It does help put into perspective some of the things I’ve been seeing my (sparse) WvW time in TC.
fun for everyone!
I keep thinking snowball fight. must be the season.

I was speaking mostly with respect to the time frame of a few months when it was BG and JQ alternating push weeks by chance, not design, shortly after season 1. Right now I don’t think theres hardly anyone doing push or rest weeks much at all.
And I play on both of my accounts everyday. Yesterday I was contesting garrison and bay while Indo flipped TC WPed hills :P

I think some people in this thread got it right, there’s two main reasons T1 bleeds players. GW2 is getting older, people are leaving..bound to happen. And the other reason, the blobfest/nuthugging. Only one of these is plausibly fixable by players, but some people cannot see that that type of gameplay is the reason why it’s dying to begin with.
Having been nomading around the last few months, as well as after S2, I can see why many people want to leave T1, in either favor of a new game, or a new tier with different play styles.
I’m happy to be a much more kick kitten player than I used to be.
It is fun to play better. My team needs some worthy opponents.

From a former lower ranked server player, u have no ideia what u’re talking about. What I noticed when I just transfered from BP was that the roamers were actually slighter better in T4+, while the commanders and big group tactics were really, really better in T1, probably because they get a lot more practice here.
As someone who transferred from BG to IoJ to play with a friend, I found that lower tiered roamers were actually worse. In T1 I would actually think twice about attacking someone, in T3-4 I just run in and only worry about it if the enemies start to triple my numbers. I think the biggest difference is the builds in T1 are based around either running away from zergs/fights or stealth annoyance, so most fights end with someone running away or pure frustration. Now this was back at the end of Season 1 LS when I transfered, so maybe T3-4 skill levels have increased since then. I haven’t played WvW for awhile though, it’s just too boring and stagnant.

I just faced ioj last week. It was boring for roaming. It’s either pure condi or a warrior with all invincible skills that try’s to burst you down, if that failed the warrior would run away.
I think all who are accusing the meeting of setting the winning server need to stop. If you listen through the entire recording, you realize it is organizing mini “Tournaments” without it being ANet setting a tourney. Along with a prize (Like a golden sparkly graphic Quaggan.) each server can have a chance to win during the Tier organized push week(s).
It also mentions having 3v3 GvG, 2v2, battle royals, ect…
As well as running different things like semi-themed nights.
Even a suggestion for a No siege week was made.

Don’t sell yourself short tho. TC is winning because it’s a robust server whose RP population took to WvW in ways that most people couldn’t imagine. It’s a great community that makes people want to log on and fight together.
JQ has lost more players and doesn’t have the ability to push TC in the way it once could.
BG as always is doing its in between seasons tanking thing, looking weaker than it is. Make no mistake, they’ll stop playing with themselves when next season rolls around.
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
Ffff this. You know what I want to see? A EU vs NA vs China. Merge servers if necessary. Let’s goooooooooooo. Let’s get to know each other with all our 100 arrow kaaarts per gateeeee! Yuuuuum
does burger kings know that there are EU players on this forum and even in game aswell? Or their world maps got only murica?
“GW2: Tier 1 Server” overall there would be 9 t1 servers and 6 of them are able to read and write here.

I’m not convinced that JQ is that bad off. It seems like they have good numbers, but that some of their commanders left.
TC has the largest population of casual players. That allows them to do well during the non-season type events
BG still has the largest population. They will dominate as soon as the next season comes.

And here it was me thinking that it was actually due to SoR imploding and a lot of those players/guilds transferring to TC allowing them to be Tier 1.
Since the NA T1 OCX prime have “self-balanced” their prime time and seem to have fun and the leaders of NA T1 have gotten together to discuss WvW issues, why can’t you self-balance amongst yourselves without having to buy or recruit guilds from lower tiers?
Do you really need to have all three sides queue a map in order to have fun?
Send pugs and pugmanders to EB and balance out the BLs with guild groups.
Maybe suggest to your dev contacts to have temporary intra-tier server transfers for guilds to balance out a match, something that could be useful for every tier.

It’s understandable that you are wrong. You are correct that a lot of SoR transferred to TC 6 months or so ago. What you don’t know is that most of them left to go to other servers after season 2. Since that time, there has been a season 3.

Another person who does not understand the state of T1. With the exception of reset nights, you rarely see a queue on the maps. Numbers are down across the board, not just in whatever tier you are in.
For T1 and T2 Server balance, I wish we have this match next week

I was just making comments from listening to the audio, I don’t need to know the state of T1, because T1 is looking more and more like the rest of the NA tiers.
In the beginning each side talked about which times they were strong and weak. Well, if you want to balance out T1, you can either recruit until you queue every map in each time zone, (not working out too well now is it), or you can self balance within the time zones. One EU commander, I think from TC, said that he also plays during OCX prime and has more fun during that time because the OCX players all jump on one map and are having a great time. The other three times NA/EU/SEA are all out of balance so there isn’t as much fun for the outmanned sides. Welcome to what the rest of NA tiers have been going through for two years.
All I’m suggesting is that if T1 is soooooo organized it shouldn’t be difficult for them to self-balance each time zone since T1 player attrition is outpacing recruiting to replace those players.

I think that might be the point of the discussion? There are actually a number of guilds in T1 that do this but it has been difficult in the past because there is so much mistrust and trash talk back and forth about servers recruiting methods. I sort of wish recruiting was never a thing because it feels like it has done more to tear communities apart then build anything lasting. Sounds like that is why they are asking for some “push” times outside of seasons so the guilds who want to help balance things out in T1 know exactly where in what time zone bodies are needed. Guilds looking for good battles know there is no joy playing when there is no competition.
Right now it is pretty random how any given team turns out for reset nite itself let alone the whole match. Bummer that it is much more rewarding to hit EotM if you are PUG material anymore. I don’t know how they can create the kind of draw that seasons tend to do with PvEers but for the most part on JQ we are seriously lacking in the Pugmander department so any PvEers who do bother to venture into WvW don’t stay very long.
Xyleia Luxuria / Sweet Little Agony / Morning Glory Wine / Precious Illusionz /
Near Fanstastica /Ocean at the End / Blue Eyed Hexe / Andro Queen / Indie Cindee . . .
It could be as easy as reset to +5 minutes everyone stack in spawn, commanders do a numbers check, report to other commanders the amount of stackers (organized) and the roamers (the ones that didn’t stack) . From +5 to +10 numbers are balanced and at +15 match starts.
Repeat every 6 hours for the other zones, or make it like EotM where you do this every three hours.
Of course self balancing like this depends on the integrity of the players involved.
For T1 and T2 Server balance, I wish we have this match next week
Tarnished Coast

I think that’d end up as a boring match for all 6 servers. (Unless all 6 did Open field fighting only.)

Soo much talk of “self balancing”, when did this become a buzz word people bought into.
There is a balancing in WvW it’s called glicko.
These polititians want to match fix so their proud server does not drop in rank whether they are playing or not, a perfect recipie for imbalance if you ask me.

They (As in the 3 servers/leaders) want to set specific weeks for all 3 servers to “Push” in WvW at the “Same” time… (Yes Same time, just as servers do during tournaments.)
Also to have a graphic art type of a trophy to be displayed by the server who wins the “set” push weeks between tournaments. (Due to tourny’s being so far spaced.)
Meaning if JQ/BG/TC decide that on the 12th, started “Push week” all 3 servers would fight tooth and nail against each other without 1 or 2 slacking off. The winner of that week, would get a trophy to display on their website for winning until the next “push” week’s winners.
The trophy idea was even mentioned. (Golden Quaggan graphic art for website display.)
I really think people should listen to the video, fully before assuming things. (Yes I listened to the full video.)

Glicko is not balance. It is a measure of a server’s expected performance at scoring and the PPT scoring system merely indicates population and coverage. Average PPT over 24 hours can be similar across all three servers yet the PPT during each timezone is vastly different. The players in each of those timezones experience either boredom from not having anyone to fight or feelings of futility and low morale. Both experiences drive players away from the game mode.
Balance is an attempt to equalize the populations in each timezone to make matches more fun for everyone. Competition can only happen between teams of equal size.

You see it as organizing push weeks, it’s also organizing tanking weeks, to guarantee no one gets pushed too hard. Since when do you need to sign up if you want to play to win… agreed on the trophy that should be every week that people give a dang instead of trolling.

Yeah read some of these posts, formulas for commanders to determine stacked vs roaming ect.. wow really..
How do you determine if a player has been logged on longer that another and do you tell them that’s enough. BG can talk in the readyup about staying up for 48 hours and chugging red bull to win but players are expected to spend gems to go where they tell them…
A guild or pugmander makes a push in one of your deadzones to bolster the server and suddenly people are coming out of the woodwork.. hmm where they come from why wherent they here when we were outmanned?
I like the concept of a council to give a unified voice to the state of WvW.
What is the criteria for membership of said council? I don’t recall voting anyone from JQ to represent :-)
The meeting was open to any guild leader/officer who wished to attend, regardless of size and level of WvW activity. This was not an exclusive VIP ultra-blob commanders committee, this really was guilds who really give a kitten about our T1 community and we want to see it thrive.
On one hand, I’m proud to see the three servers coming together for the purpose of making our gaming experience better. On the other hand, it’s upsetting that the games staleness has forced the need for this. T2 is more active than T1 for now and that needs to change.
ANet, get some more support for your WvW team. Your diehard community really could use some significant love. Maybe redesign 2/3 borderlands so they are not just copy/paste of each other?
Maybe, make the wins count for something. Favor of the Gods style?

You know ANet sets Tournaments. From the recorded meeting the T1 servers for NA, are also wanting to set dedicated weeks for “tier” ran tournaments. (Prize included.)
Which does not mean any “tanking weeks” however it does mean organizing it, so BG/TC/JQ all have their commanders/players who wish to pull “over time” in WvW all doing it at the same “week”. (Then the non “push” weeks, they can go back to regular times, instead of pushing tons of WvW hours.)
It’s like running.
You run fast for a while, and you get burnt out. However if you run fast for a while, then walk slow a bit, and run fast again, you tend to go further without being as tired.
