I don’t mind this apparent “2v1” there were a lot of fun fights this week with both YB and EB, IMO if this “2v1” wasn’t happening there would most likely be a karma train going on the entire week of the matchup.

Please stop defending these two servers. You may not be one of the guilty parties, but it makes no sense to defend stuff like this.

So what you are asking for is the same mercy you showed us on EBay in week 2 of leagues where you won by 300k, relentlessly farmed and spawn camped us in our own BL and told us on the forums we should be grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from the godlike WvW tactics machine that is SBI? Gotcha.

Neither Yaks or EBay is defending the griefers. But we both have people on our servers chewing through supply in our keeps and running golems off of cliffs day and night. Go to the matchup thread and see how many pics have been posted by the other servers too complaining about this. Playing the victim after being one of the most generally abusive and condescending servers we’ve ever faced just isn’t going to fly.

Because judging a server by what people say on the official forum is the proper way to go about it. Are you an imbecile?

Your last matchup with Yaks Bend also featured IoJ, the lowest population server of Silver league and the one who well and truly got screwed by this whole ordeal that we called league play. It’s easy to claim how superior you are when you have a 3rd server in the mix that cannot defend itself against you, quite different when there’s not an easy target you can leach points from for every tick of the match.

WvWvW is NEVER 1v1. The 3rd server is ALWAYS a factor in the outcome.

So in other words, you lost because you didn’t have help from IoJ

As for saying we should of been able to handle a 2v1, Really? not even Blackgate could handle a 2v1 in this game..No server can..

I’d say just wait till you have to deal with it, but lets be honest..you have to be a threat to warrant a 2v1 in the first place.

We were ranked 2nd in this league, with Yaks 3rd and Ebay 4th. Neither of you are hardly fielding the low numbers IoJ is. And at some times of the day just one of your servers outnumbers us. During our strong times of the day we can get to +300 even while fighting both of you, but at the other times it’s near impossible to do anything against both of you. WvW is all about numbers, and this is no different.

This is metagaming, pure and simple. Establishing alliances and agreements outside of the game itself isn’t prohibited under any terms of use. It will however, destroy the only aspect of GW2 that keeps me playing.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view, the SBI community is reluctant to get involved in such alliances and skew a match in it’s favour which means it will be continuously defeated by those who do despite having some very talented commanders and committed WvW players. But I’m a realist who played EVE for six years and knows that the metagame is all when it comes to winning.

Oddly enough, if I was amongst the influential and respected members of the SBI community, I would be establishing the type of network of spies, informers, intelligence assets, saboteurs and temporary alliances that Goonswarm had in EVE online when I used to play. But I’m not, and strangely enough I’m proud of the stance they’re taking in all of this.

Let the other servers finesse their way up the ladder into the gold league, because when we were up against these servers before these alliances were being formed, SBI ended the week with close to a 100K point lead over our nearest rival. Imagine what is going to happen to these servers when they’re part of the top tier.

It’ll not be pretty.

Re-read the post. In-game actions coupled with forum representation combined give a pretty good idea of a servers identity. The 100 man group that sat in our garrison nearly every morning of the week waiting to be fed bags didn’t have to post to make their intentions or opinions of us clear. The zergs who stood outside of our spawn portals and pulled people into their vortex to be insta-downed, then stripped and jumped on their corpses naked also did not need to post on the forums to paint a picture of who your server is. You, personally, may have acted with some dignity in our last match… I have no idea, no way of knowing. But it is not a stretch to say that an overwhelming number showed us absolutely no respect.

If your server wants to play like this, power to them. There’s nothing against the rules, no abuse of bugs and no violation of the TOS in doing so. But don’t come back later and cry foul when people don’t like it and decide to do something about it. Your server did this to yourselves collectively. The plural ‘you’ made this image and now are seeing the consequences of it.

Other servers who have outmanned and outplayed their opponents have not acted in this way in matches past. /laugh and /sit can easily be replaced with /bow and /salute. Spawn camping can easily be replaced with capturing and actively defending structures and supply lines. Even a roflstomp can be done with some sportsmanship by the winner if they choose to do so. Enough on SBI chose the alternate route that you won’t get much sympathy from many of your league opponents to this point.

This is exactly my point. When server #3 is half the population of EBay, maybe less, it takes minimal resources to fight that 2nd front. It over-inflates the margin of victory and is even better for the victor than having an alliance. Yaks Bend and Ehmry Bay have taken that advantage away and forced you to actively fight a 2 front war.

Pretty awesome how many people hate a rank 8 server.

The SBi people posting in here don’t seem to understand how the 3 way fights in WvW work. If there is someone with much larger population and coverage(SBi) fighting a server with a little less of both(YB) and the 3rd server has little to no population and coverage(IoJ) the larger server can focus on the 2nd highest(while also devoting a tiny portion of their population towards taking the smallest servers stuff w/o resistance. While smallest server will also go after the 2nd highest server because it gives them less chance to get ran over by a karma train. Therefore it becomes a 2v1(1 1/2 v 1 is closer) against the 2nd place server.

In this matchup it’s different. The smallest server(Ebay) isn’t massively smaller than the 2nd largest(YB) so they can and do put up a fight against the biggest server which should split its forces. Instead SBi continues to run massive zerg so they can take anything on the map that isn’t fully upgraded and defended but they end up losing twice as much as normal while they are taking a single objective since both servers have the will and numbers to attack. Of course this match up is even more lopsided towards YB and Ebay because both sides have reasons to keep SBi from getting anything but 3rd place.

Oh, we understand alright. This week has been a great wake up call for SBI.

As an observer, an ex-soldier and a great reader of military history, I determined a long time ago that our tactics were one dimensional and limited. You’ll be amazed what you can learn by sitting on the map screen, listening to TS and reading map chat. With any luck this setback will bring our server leadership together to put together cohesive, flexible battle plans utilising a combination of specialised teams and improved command and control.

Personally, I think this is the best thing that could have happened to us. It’ll certainly require our commanders to re-appraise their strategy and start pulling together as a team. I look forward to the outcome.

The sabotage was going on from SBI also. Guild ODG was in yaks bend building dozens of balistas in camp to deny supplies. The stupidity is Anet not having any in game GM’s or any reporting tool in WvW for actual cheating

Not allowed to post names on forums. The guild ODG is “Old Dirty Gamers”. You can guess from the name why they are doing things like sabotage. I did report them but that is pretty much a useless exercise with no in game GMs.

It’s funny that every YB and Ebay player insists in every post that this alliance started yesterday, when it has been pretty apparent from the first couple of days. It’s just a lot more noticeable in this last stretch as ebay failed to get ahead all week.

If there were no allegiances, YB would have been a pretty good fight and Ebay would have been totally crushed. Quit denying it if it makes you feel better though.

I’m sorry, but while I do admire the spite YB is showing SBI this post of your is such bullcrap that I can’t take it seriously. You’re basically describing what your server did to my server NSP and IOJ last week. No respect, endless spawn camping, golem rushes on paper keeps with outmanned buffs, sit spam, forum trash talk, you name it.

Your server, SBI, FA, basically all acted the same. I don’t see any difference in your tactics or behavior. I never expected mercy or an easy time against any of your servers, but I do find it funny reading YB and SBI people going back and forth and whining about the very same things you do to any other server when given the same chance / circumstances.

Earlier in the week both YB and EB launched simultaneous assaults on the eastern side of SM when SBI held it. YB used two trebs to destroy the outer wall, but EB ignored the breach and continued assaulting the gate to the south of it. Within minutes, the YB main force turned up and stormed the breach, but each side held back to allow the other the opportunity to assault the inner defences and only took over when the other force was spent. I know because I was there on the defences throughout and saw each side avoid each other and attack in turn.

There was no “fessing up”. Both Ehmry Bay and Yak’s Bend are totally okay with people knowing about the alliance and its result. Trust me, we don’t care about what you guys think. If we had formed the alliance earlier we wouldn’t have tried to hide it at all. We would have rubbed it in, the way we did yesterday and today. Why do you think EB/YB players didn’t start mass /wave /salute until yesterday? We were emoting for comedic effect and we would have been doing it all week if there really was an alliance all week.

Honestly, it was a good move – the two weaker servers teamed up to defeat the stronger one. It should be done more often. And if it were, WvWvW would be more fun. Look at this matchup… it was meaningful down to the last few hours of the last day! I’ll take that any week of the year over the typical way it goes down lately! Win or lose!

Hopefully, what YB and EB did will be contagious, and we’ll see more exciting matches in NA and EU.

Poor SBI. They did some of the worst spawn camping I’ve seen in this game in over a year of playing in their match vs DB last week. It’s amazing SBI hasn’t faced more 2v1. Oh, SBI vs. FA vs. DB this week. Good luck!

Have to admit it’s nice seeing Wagonisle get its just desserts. There is gonna be lots of kitten ed off there with all the stacking on a server with hopes of "winning’ silver league.

Just pointing this out because it’s not wise to accuse everyone of being spies just because they’re doing some stupid kitten in a CAMP. We were in a CAMP. Not a tower or a keep. It was the end of the week. We were already ahead by a huge margin so losing that camp supply to a few people just trying to have a little fun isn’t the end of the world.

Besides, the camp was empty when the SBI blob rolled through. We helped :P

PS there may or may not have been alcohol involved in the Great Wall of Rams/Ballistas incident.. Be happy it wasn’t a time I decided to make “Fort Pangloss” and siegelock the map >__>

This week was the most fun I’ve ever had with GW2. It’s nice making new friends in EB with an added bonus of delivering SBI sweet revenge for their sins! Jk, but yeah, it felt good to see two smaller servers team up to crush the arrogance SBI has exhibited in the past – that’s poetic justice right there!

Blackgate won’t take exception to it, because they know for a fact they couldn’t handle a 2v1, and EB couldn’t handle a 2v1 either.

That’s nice that you think you know everything about every match that’s ever been played… but you are very wrong on this point. Week 16, Ehmry Bay vs the Borlis Rock Union.

Anvil Rock and Borlis Pass formed an alliance pre-reset and carried it out for the entirety of the week – but were still defeated by the ‘evil empire’, Ehmry Bay – who won by a larger margin of victory than it had in previous matches when facing the same two servers fighting without an alliance. In weeks before the matchup we had faced each other already a few times, and if you look at the scores, they were much closer until the alliance forced us to up our game.

What was magic about it from our perspective is that when the two other servers came out the gate like rabid dogs and attacked us with everything they had, our WvW community responded favorably. We actually grew in number, our coverage improved over that week to respond to the new threat and our commanders made leaps and bounds in cross guild and cross map coordination. In the space of about 36-48 hours we made improvements that we had not been able to achieve in months before that.

EBay is a fairly different server now than it was then… maybe we could handle a double team from lower ranked servers, maybe we couldn’t. Who knows. I’m sure we will find out soon enough. But regardless, you guys aren’t the first server to face this situation. SBI’s collective reaction to it differed to ours quite significantly though, and that’s what I find the most interesting.

Think we were just burned out on blowing out everyone since our week one match up with you guys. We did stomp YB by almost 200k points the first time we faced them.

We could’ve placed second, but we seemed to have spent thanksgiving doing things, cause our coverage was non existent.

I think our lackluster performance started before the reset with YB. We pretty much tanked that whole friday, and didn’t seem to care after that. It was a shame that we did that, now we are gonna be third.

And, as far as our server goes….we are handing it to you atm, FA.

I didn’t play a lot during the match-up because I haven’t had a chance to play Gw2 a lot lately, but when I saw a sizable group of YB defending EB yaks (among other shenanigans) I decided it wasn’t really worth coming out again. I am sure a lot of other people felt the same way.

People don’t seem to understand how absurd the entire situation was. Apparently one or more griefers from SBI wasted supply in YB early in the week, the response to which was the double-team and the excessive punishing of SBI.

Last week, SBI couldn’t field more than maybe 25 players on its own borderland; last night all four maps were queued until very late. SBI has a lot of fairweathers, but even so, there’s something wrong with that picture. The level of intensity of griefing and double-teaming literally made hundreds or thousands of people want to just not play.

I don’t care who “deserved” it or who “hit me first” (what are we, four-year-olds?), that type of stuff is absurd. The only thing I’ve learned from trying to get into WvW this week is that the community is brokenly awful. Please keep reporting this stuff, as it will literally destroy this game if left unchecked.

You’re correct, it’s absurd how a little 2v1 can make a server’s population ragequit like that, especially considering how many servers have been putting up with that the entire season. You ain’t the only ones dealing with it, stop QQing.

I would really restrain myself from bragging about having to double team someone to keep them in second place.

If griefing has been happening to multiple servers the entire season, people need to first stop defending it (again, if I were an Anet dev reading these forums and seeing how many people think it’s okay, I would just stop listening to all feedback here) and second, report it.

I’m not talking about a little double-teaming to overcome a bigger server, I’m talking about cheating. Since everyone here seems to enjoy “tears,” I need to make it clear that I don’t even regularly play WvW. You have nothing to gain from making me “feel bad.” I’m simply attempting to tell you what will kill the game mode you enjoy, nothing more or less.
