Item Delete bug When Splitting Stacks

[Playing on mac] I was trying to send some food (Bowl of Simple Stirfry) to my friend through mail, but I had a stack of 11 and only wanted to send him 1. So I alt-dragged to split the stack (the stack was in the mail window and I split to my inventory) and wrote 10 as the new stack size. When I did the item disappeared from the letter I was writing and only the stack of 10 appeared in my inventory. The same thing happened later with a Bolt of Damask that I was trying to send back to the same person.

Why are "elitists" viewed as the evil ones?

New poster here, but this thread intrigued me enough to want to put in my two cents.
In my mind the PHITY/PHIW dichotomy comes down to he difference between people who are primarily logic orientated versus the people who are primarily feeling orientated.
The PHITY ‘elitists’ are the people who are logic orientated. These people are outcome-driven. They see the dungeon as a means to a greater end in the future. To this end they used the most efficient builds and tactics because, logically, that is the fastest way to achieve their end goals. They may enjoy the present, but they aren’t focused on it.
The PHIW ‘casuals’ are feeling orientated. They want to enjoy the moment and feel like individuals (hence why they resent the Zerk meta). They use the builds they like the idea of and probably want to enjoy the dungeons, with the end goal rewards being more of a bonus than the main objective.
Obviously these two approaches are going to clash. Where the PHITY sees that they are merely informing other people of a more efficient way to play, thereby helping them, the PHIW is going to see this as a personal attack on their individuality and respond with personal insults, which the PHITY views as groundless and ad hominem.
I’ve seen a lot of people on this thread in the PHITY camp say ‘why would you join my lfg when it clearly says 80 zerks’ or words to that effect. My guess would be the PHIWs you get joining either don’t know the terminology, or they think ‘well it says that you need to be a zerk warrior, but once they see how good my mesmer nomad’s build is they’ll love me!‘. Then when they join gear is pinged and they feel like they’re reduced to numbers rather than a person. Both parties walk away angry.
The PHIW hampers the PHITY’s ability to achieve their end goals, and the PHITY hampers the PHIW’s ability to enjoy the moment and feel like a valued individual.
Obviously in reality none of us are fully one or the other, but we all probably have a preference and find the other harder to understand.
Just a thought.
And yes I did just go CG Jung up in this piece. What?

I’d be interested in trying this out – I’ve got a charr warrior and am EU-based.

Dungeons sound ideal for RP here – instancing solves the problem of non-RPers, and it gives you a traditional dungeon crawl with creatures to slay, puzzles to solve and plot NPCs to ignore. Though trying to type and dodge at the same time may be interesting.

A charr warrior is ideal! If we include my two other friends and Sunshine here, that would make a DE. Asura Guardian, Charr Warrior, Norn Ele, Human Ranger and Sylvari Thief

This thread is fine for this subforum. It’s looking for a possible group to RP destiny’s edge through dungeons in a non conventional manner.

At Sola, your comment is so irrelevant to this thread I can’t even begin to understand what you read.

Oh, it absolutely belongs here — I think it’s a refreshing change of tone from the usual discussions in here (not that I don’t enjoy snarky Q_Q ;-P). Just saying that OP’s lovely idea might be better received elsewhere

Well my recent absence from this subforum is mainly because lovely ideas like these are being snarkily received. It’s really enraging me.

But I digress. I’m in as ele Norn

Awesome! since you said your EU account I assume I won’t find you through the name here. If you add me and give me a whisper we can make plans

Add Sunshine Lepton. That’s my char name

Added. My Asura’s called Bovvin

Sorry that I’m not from the land of freedom and bacon, guys :c Tbh, though this wasn’t intended as an LFG thread (although I was and am), more of a place that people could discuss the idea and make their own playthroughs, so go forth and take my ideas! Nothing would make me happier :P

Thanks! I did consider posting to the Lore Subforum, but it didn’t really seem a good fit there either. In fact I probably would have had even more whining about the storytelling in dungeons XD

Inb4 ITT: I ask for a dungeon RP group and it ends up being a flame war about the ‘right’ way to play.

I only really recently started running dungeons, and while I’m having a lot of fun with them, I can’t help but notice that they have been somewhat boiled down to an art by this point of the game’s lifecycle. A lot of content (including interesting lore) is just skipped for the sake of efficiency and bosses are kitten because certain exploits exist. I am in no way condemning these practices, but it did give me the idea that just once I’d like to run all the dungeons fully, experiencing all the mechanics and lore of the dungeons as they were ‘meant’ to be played.
The challenge would be to assemble a group of 5 people and tackle every dungeon, killing every enemy in each path (including story) without skipping content or using campy/gimpy tactics. Less conventional build/profession combos would be encouraged, too. Taking this further, I also thought it would be fun, while doing this, to form a sort of Destiny’s Edge from the party (5 separate races and professions) and role play through the dungeons, taking in and discussing all the scenery and the lore as best you can. There will likely be a lot of wipes and of course dungeons will take a lot longer, but the idea is to forget about the rewards for a minute and try to enjoy GW2’s combat and lore.
I guess I’m wondering what people think of this idea. I’m looking for suggestions as to how to make this challenge a really fun experience and if enough people are interested then we could even form a guild for the purpose of facilitating these playthroughs.
What do you guys think?

I, for one, am extremely impressed that ArenaNet have managed to tie the Living Story together in the way they have done, and I do not share many of the concerns that pop up elsewhere on the forums. The updates have improved so much in quality over the course of the season and I am very excited for the conclusion of this arc. I think AN have really started to find their feet with delivering content in this way, and I believe season 2 will be very exciting to progress through, now that they know what they’re doing a bit more.
