Anyone not buying HoT and still playing ?

I will not be buying HoT and I will not be continuing GW2. I’m a WvW player. That’s what I like to do. The fact that they locked the elite specs behind a grind wall has turned me away. I don’t want to grind so that I can have fun in WvW. I don’t want to grind all the specs so that I can know that I chose the right one. Whoever made that design decision failed on so many levels for so many players. I, for one, won’t be giving Anet any more money (spent over $1000 on vanilla GW2) until I know they have heard the concerns of players like myself.
inb4 “Oh it doesn’t take that long, I got it on my <insert class here that they played for an inordinate amount of time> after just 12 straight hours of playing” or “oh you just want everything for free ayylmao”
For those ignorant kittens: not everyone has the time that you do to pour into all of your characters. Not everyone plays the game the same way you do and gets rewarded for the same actions. I’m glad you enjoy it, but try to think outside of your own view for once. Honestly, think about what kind of decision it is to lock core class mechanics behind any sort of grind wall. It seems pretty obvious why it’s there…
Really?
Come on…take your head out of the sand for a second.
We got TONS of new armor skins during the time when there was no xpac.
With HoT, we don’t need a billion skins because we got actual content.
Ever think that maybe we didn’t get skins because the devs were busy giving us:
– Entirely new zones
– New progression for every profession in the form of Elite Specializations
– An entirely new targetting/control system (action combat system)
– Massive guild halls
– Complete new crafting profession
– 3 new Legendaries
– New legendary crafting system that gives depth to the path of getting legendaries
– Gliding system with customizeable and dyable glider skins
– New WvW borderlands
– Entirely new sPvP game mode and map
– Custom PvP arenas for guild halls
– New levels of Fractals
– Motherkittening raidsI mean come on…consider for a moment what it takes to create all of that and then consider that there are at least 2 complete new armor skins (not including the new outfit that you got for free pre-release and the new outfit on the gemstore) and several new weapon skins on top of unique weapon skins and armor skin for Elite Specializations.
If this dissappoints you, don’t ever expect to be impressed by anything a developer will come out with.
Not trying to be rude… but do you have any idea how development works? You really shouldn’t be telling him to get his head out of the sand. Creating some new armor sets is nothing on the level of raids/guild hall content/ wvw borderlands maps. Armor sets have no functionality outside of cosmetics. It could take small team a couple of hours to come up with a decent armor set drawings and then a couple of hours to render it properly for the different races. It would take a big team much larger to design a WvW map because they have to consider every interaction and how it relates to gameplay. Like your point is so ludicrous it shows you have no idea what you’re talking about. And as to your point about expectations: there are more armor sets in the expansions for GW1 and those expansions took less time to develop. I don’t understand how it wasn’t an expectation after this long, especially when the core game has so few already. I remember being in awe at some game releases. They were able to create so much in so little time. This is the opposite. I’m impressed with how much grind and how little actual content Anet pumped out it in so much time.
You expected it to be all handed out to you? My mind is blown.
Always has to be one that just doesn’t get it. Always.
Yep. There are always going to be close minded simpletons that can’t see another perspective because something is “fine” to them. You’re asking people who don’t think to think. Unfortunately for those of us with legitimate complaints, it makes it harder to actually get that feedback to the developer. That’s the funny part to me. All of these simpletons actually hurt the game they love by blindly following it. But hey, whatever, this cash cow still keeps investors happy.
Really? People just need to toughen up

Oh look another post that doesn’t address any of the issues that people are complaining about. Nobody wants everything in a day. People are complaining that it is going to take them too long to get to functionality in their classes that they thought was core in the expansion. They are complaining that a game that touted exploration feels more like a series of gated grind rooms. Do you even read the forums before posting this drivel? Honestly, I’m impressed with how bad peoples’ reading comprehension is these days.
Elite specialization grind literally has nothing to do with the difficulty of the game. #think
You ask too much. Most of the people here white knighting for Anet literally can’t think outside of their own myopic views. Hell, most of them can’t even synthesize some of the most basic information in these forum posts without forming a strawman fallacy. They can’t grasp that maybe people enjoy different things in games.
Anet didn’t advertise this. They should have said “elite specializations will be challenging to unlock! Put your game face on!”
But they didn’t because if they did nobody would have bought the game.
This is the case for me. I came to the forums to see how the general reception was after the first day. I am shocked to find out that if I had bought the expac, I wouldn’t have been able to begin to find out which elite spec I enjoyed the most without hours upon hours of grinding (something that’s not ideal, because I work a full time job). This is just bad design. I can understand putting cosmetics behind a treadmill, but class functionality? Great decision there Anet. I’m beginning to think I made a wise decision passing on HoT.
