Guild Wars 2

Lately I’ve been trying to decide which class to play (I’m a new player) , and after some time, I ended up being torn between Ele and Thief, it’s as follows

I like to play WvW , mostly small scale or solo roaming, usually tend to play classes with high burst and mobility, and don’t mind being squishy, I’ve seen several videos of players playing both those classes in the situations I intend to play, most prominently Yishis and Mugi for Thief and Intigo for Ele (D/D) , and both have caught my eye, the rest of the classes not so much.

Now the problem is to decide which of those to play :P , as usual the forums of almost all classes tend to be full of negative comments about them (except warrior in this case) , and honestly I don’t want to roll a warrior or guardian. So I’m here asking for help, mostly comparisons between said classes in WvW settings, weapon sets, and the like. If possible also which is easier to learn, given that I’m completely new at the game. And which has potential to become something to fear when and if I end up mastering it.

I wouldn’t mind some opinions on playing both or either of those in fractals and other dungeons, as I quite like the armor looks of some of them, so I guess I’ll have to farm :P

Thank you guys for the answers, I’ve been watching a few videos of people that seem to know their classes inside out, and ended up ruling Necro out, it doesn’t look very entertaining, but, I ended up watching a few videos about Thief (ended up in the channel of Yishis when searching for Engi videos) , and it seems quite engaging too … so I’m still at point zero trying to figure out what to play :P , sadly I play with 200 ping or so , that may be a factor in the decision as well.

If anyone could please give me a run down of Ele in roaming and Thief , I would greatly appreciate it .

Hello everyone,

I’m a new player of this game, and have so far tried a few characters in the Heart of Mists setting to see what the skills look like , but it hasn’t helped so far in deciding what to play.

I’m looking for a class that I’ll use to do mostly WvW as I have no real interest in structured pvp. As for preferences, I tend to like either solo or small scale fights , roaming and such, though I will join zergs often as well.

I’ve been looking mostly at 3 classes so far, which are:

- Elementalist: The switching atunements seem to be kind of difficult , but I can get used to it, I tried a few weapons, and ended up liking mostly Dagger/Dagger and Scepter / Dagger

- Necromancer: I like the concept of it, though I didn’t feel particularly strong, but again I tried this classes for like 5 minutes each just to see what they offer. I didn’t like the idea of playing with several minions though. I do like both the conditions and power style of playing.

- Engineer: It’s a fun concept, though I felt limited in my weapon choices when not using a kit.

Well, that’s about it , I want to play a class that can do 1v1 and 1vX situations and come out on top if I play well enough, I don’t mind a learning curve, but I want to know it has the potential to help in both WvW and Dungeons which I’ll sometimes do for gear and the likes.
