I’m glad someone responded at least! I’m just wondering if anyone else has insight or opinions? I really want to make this build as optimal as possible considering it’s not the most efficient play style in the world, plus this post took ages to make. So if anyone else has thoughts, please put them in.

Hey everyone. So first of all, I ask you to bear with me and please read through this post if you’re interested. It’s going to be a little long winded with three different builds, but I could really use the help. So if you’ve got the time, please take a look and offer your opinions. Anyway, let’s get right into it!

So obviously this build no matter how you slice it is designed as pure support. I realize this isn’t exactly optimal in GW2, but it’s the playstyle I’ve always enjoyed in other games and I want to try to replicate it to some extent in this game. Besides, from what I’ve seen it’ll be amazing in WvW even if it suffers from doing low damage in PvE. I also just wanted to mention that while healing power definitely isn’t one of the greatest stats, it’s scaling isn’t as terrible as people seem to think. (Empower has a 1 to 1 ratio.)

NOTE: All of these builds have the same traits and skills. These are different armor setups, trying to maximize the potential of this build. Also, a term that I’ll be using a lot if you’re unfamiliar with it is EHP. This means effective hit points, how much damage you can take in full with your damage reduction from armor taken into account with your hit points.

So the first build: http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/guardian/?3.4|6.1k.h6|9.1k.a8.e.1k.a8|1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.9d|1k.68.1k.68.1k.68.1k.68.1k.68.1a.68|0.0.a4.u3ac.u179|0.0|x.16.14.1c.1j|e

This is pretty much the middle of the road build. Damage is obviously low, and healing power is as high as possible with modest survivability. By mixing magi and clerics, you gain the highest possible EHP at the cost of some power. The reason for using magi armor and cleric trinkets instead of vice versa? Simply enough, there is no magi ascended gear. So if I ever wanted that option for this character, this would leave it open for that. Also, going full clerics (Trinkets and armor) isn’t really ideal from the math I’ve done. The power you gain isn’t worth the amount of EHP you lose by mixing the two.

Setup 2: http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/guardian/?3.4|6.1a.h6|9.1a.a8.e.1a.a8|1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.9d|1a.68.1a.68.1a.68.1a.68.1a.68.1a.68|0.0.a4.u3ac.u179|0.0|x.16.14.1c.1j|e

This build goes a different route, sort of.. By stacking magi gear, you’ll notice that power drops even more, but EHP goes up by quite a bit. Also, we start to get into a decent crit range considering the kind of gear we’re using. The question here really is does the 32% crit chance make up for the big damage loss? Does that combine well with having higher EHP, allowing you to survive longer for more healing? I don’t know, so help! =3

The final setup: http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/guardian/?3.4|6.1c.h6|9.1c.a8.e.1c.a8|1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.71h.1a.9d|1k.68.1k.68.1k.68.1k.68.1k.68.1a.68|0.0.a4.u3ac.u179|0.0|x.16.14.1c.1j|e

This is the one that I expect most of you to vote for. It has the highest EHP and damage, but sacrifices some healing power. It’s more of a question of, if my damage is already this low, is getting some power worth it when I could just get a little more healing power? Would the above build be superior with the higher crit as a replacement for power, while maintaining healing? I believe it really comes down to the last two builds, but I could be wrong, that’s why I posted it here.

Lastly, you’ll notice I stuck a shaman crest in the sixth slot of the armor instead of the last rune. I figured that the three stats that it gave really compliment my needs well, and as far as I’ve seen and heard the sixth skill for water runes (While conceptually awesome) kind of blows. It only works on self heals as far as I know, and since I use healing breeze that means it would only come into effect every forty seconds. So please, offer your opinions! Help me make these builds better, help me choose the one you think is best and tweak it. Thanks for reading.

Assistance with a longbow warrior build.

I took my own advice and tried this out last night. It actually worked great for WvW. I took 10 pts from Discipline to get Stronger Bowstrings.

I think people are so used to 100b Frenzy Warriors, that they don’t quite know what to expect from someone packing a Longbow. I recommend it. I run full zerker with ruby orbs, and mostly exotic Cavalier trinkets.

I know this post is a little old and I apologize for the bump (I’m not on the forums much.), just wanted to ask if you stuck to using Beryl Orbs in your accessories?

Ok. I’d put in just 10 points in explosions and give up enhance performance, and swap out the exploit weakness for incendiary powder (but thats just personal playstyle). put at least 10 points in tools. Speedy kits is just too dam good! It gives you perma swiftness (since your aiming for a WvW build, swiftness is a must!).

Second, you should get a superior sigil of corruption and swap out blood injection (if you really want to keep the extra condi damage, you only got it cor the extra burn damage? It’s not reallt worth it imo) for invigorating speed. It gives your build huge survavibility options, especially since you work with 2 kits.

Third: Pick sigil of battle! It makes might stacking sooo much better an easier!

Just my personal suggestions

Look at the traits and armor section ^^: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcEQFAUlIqyanvyuF1LJxoCdG0D9637KSR+b8nCsF;TEADRA

I’ll definitely try the build out that you mentioned, it sounds pretty good. To be honest I was sort of thinking of doing something like this, wasn’t sure about the specifics though. I have a couple questions though.

First if you think that blood injection isn’t worth it (I was contemplating its usefulness myself actually.) is invigorating speed really that useful itself? Vigor doesn’t seem THAT important to me. Honestly if I was going to switch, protection injection sounds more useful to add survivability to me personally. Then concerning sigil of battle, I also question its necessity since I already get constant might from juggernaut. Currently I use a Beryl Orb in my rifle just for the power and vitality, probably not the best option I know. So I’m open to more suggestions/discussion.

The last thing I wanted to ask was do you think all these changes will sacrifice my damage too much? I’m a little worried about getting too weak. Considering this is a jack of all trades build, if I get too weak in any area it could be bad. I have no healing power for example, so my heals aren’t the best. My damage isn’t the best, and I’m almost not the tankiest. So it’s really just a combination of being decent at the three that I think makes me useful currently. Anyway, please give me your thoughts again along with anyone else that wants to chip in. Thanks for reading and responding. <3

Hi everyone. You may remember my previous engineer thread where I was trying to choose between two different builds. After extensive testing at level 80, I’ve decided on this one. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcEQFAUlIqyaX3SfF17ICoH6lfdXiUgZN2HF03DC
This build relies primarily on the flamethrower, the rifle for long range targets, and the elixir gun for support. It is a WVW oriented build and uses full power/toughness/ vitality gear. Runes go along with that armor, five runes of the warrior and one of the soldier. My soldiers accessories all have crests of the soldier, to further bolster those three stats.

So my question is, do you have any ideas how I could improve this build or better optimize it? Currently its setup to be tanky enough to allow me to run in with the flamethrower and not get exploded. (In WvW, but its been durable enough in Fractals in the few I’ve ran too.) Then I have the rifle to fallback on when getting close isn’t an option and obviously for net shot, and elixir gun for support as I stated. Anyways, please offer any advice you have to further optimize my build, or leave any questions that you may have. Thanks for reading.

Here you are my friend.

Since your in WvW you can supplement gear to be more tanky and still achieve the same success.

Looks like a great build and I thank you for the response, but I have a few doubts it’ll suit my needs. Firstly, not having the range increase seems like it would be sort of painful in WvW. Also, since it seems to focus heavily on crit damage (30 Discipline) would it not be pretty sub-par if I didn’t wear precision gear and instead wore power/tough/vit? Just to be clear I am asking and not being snide, I know nothing about warriors. I’ll most likely take greatsword as my alternate if anything, though!

EDIT: Also wanted to add that I’m not dead set on using power/tough/vit if those with experience believe that some durability can be drawn from else-where. This is just my mindset I’m throwing out there.

Hi everyone. Recently, I decided I’d like to try a longbow warrior. However, I don’t know a lot about the class besides that I like longbow’s skillset and I would like some of your advice. Firstly, I intend for this character to be balanced in terms of offense and defense. I already have a glass cannon Ranger, and would prefer to do something more balanced this time around.

I was thinking something along the lines of 30 strength, 30 tactics, and 10 arms. Or perhaps the last 10 in Discipline. I intend to use power/tough/vitality gear to have survivability and damage, unless you guys think that would be ineffective in what I’m trying to achieve.

This build is also going to see a lot of play in WvW, which is partially why I was drawn more to longbow than rifle. I prefer the AoE damage that longbow can offer, and it just looks more fun to me in general. So, those of you who know a good deal about warriors, help me out! How should I spec to achieve a decent damage longbow build for WvW that doesn’t blow up instantly? What sort of gear do you personally believe would suit this best? And something I personally am totally lost on, what alternate weapon would best compliment longbow for this sort of build? Thank you all for reading, and I look forward to your responses.

Two engineer builds. Help me choose!

Hi everyone. This is my first post, and I’ve got a little problem. I’ve been speed leveling an engineer and I absolutely love it so far. Flamethrower is insanely fun, and so are grenades. However, after I originally tinkered and found a build I liked, I recently found a different one. It’s worth noting that my intention is to create a middle of the road character. One that does good damage while still being fairly durable, and will be wearing a full soldiers (Toughness, power, vitality) set. This build is also primarily looked upon as a WvW build, since it’s what I enjoy doing the most.

So, the first build. This one uses Flamethrower and Grenades, which is really fun for me. The ten into toughness makes it a bit tankier, and taking the conversion into power trait goes perfectly with my gear and Juggernaut.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcEQJAqel0pyaHxSdF17ISoCSIoHAWddXfe8WtFEC

Now the second build. This one I did some number crunching and found out that the Flamethrower seems to do comparable damage despite losing the 10 points in explosives. Not to mention it’s overall more tanky than the previous build. This build relies mostly on Flamethrower and Elixir Gun.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcEQJAqel0pyaX3SdF27IBoH6tu3VkCM34PKYbbB

The problem is I can’t really decide which way to go. Is being a bit tankier and having comparable (Perhaps slightly more) flamer damage worth having essentially no ranged AoE? My grenades would be pretty terrible without grenadier. So I’d basically be using Elixir Gun for support and on single targets at range, Flamethrower up close, and probably Mortar whenever a big fight or keep defense was happening. Please offer me your opinions, and help me decide! Thank you for reading.
