Heritage isn’t an option during character creation, only during that part of the story as a result of selecting the dead sister path during character creation. We get options for: social class, regret, deity, and profession-based choices. I haven’t made a new one in a while, but they probably still ask the personality question even though it’s been removed from the hero screen.
There is generally a price of some sort to be paid for being a late adopter. Regardless of the inclusion of season 2, the game is immensely worth the price, especially if you get it at a discount (which happens fairly regularly and was not available to early adopters who paid full price). It’s a tradeoff.
Unless you don’t want Ascalonian to be the character’s heritage, you did not answer incorrectly. There isn’t a single correct answer. So you’re fine.
There should be a small visual tweak to the missing sister storyline at one point. Other than that, this is a rather inconsequential decision for humans, unfortunately, unless something changes in future updates.
The individual(s) that made the decision to influence participation in this survey could have created a reward mechanism much less antagonistic to the rest of us not receiving the invitation. Below, I’ll explain how it would be more palatable to those of us who were not selected. It is unfair to provide a sample with an in-game reward that has a significant value by redeeming gems for gold or items in the gem store. To my knowledge, we don’t know: 1) how you selected these individuals- it could be random, arbitrary, or with some other criterion, or 2) how many surveys were sent.
I would much rather have had survey respondents have a random chance for 400 gems. This is a much better way of obtaining valid data than just handing out 400 gems to everyone who submits a survey.
Crab toss achievements for me are bugged as well. For the last few days, progress has been stuck, and I’ve not gotten credit for the daily achievement. I’ve attached a screenshot of before and after a match where I’ve grabbed 4 times and carried 7, but no change.
