Making Copies Actually Useful?

in Mesmer

Mesmer is basically the sociopath kamikaze class because the entire focus of the class seems to be “I give you life. NOW DIE FOR ME.”

Why did they bother to add in all these trait boosts to the clones and phantasms when they’re barely effective to begin with? Phantasms do good damage but christ, they attack only once in forever; and the clones do nothing. Nothing.

The phantasms really should generate as much aggravation as the player, and clones should generate even more. Save for the Phantasmal Defender which should always generate highest priority. That way the enemy priority focuses on the most fragile proxy of the mesmer, and moves its way up to the mesmer themself: Expendable copies, Utility copies, The Player. Currently only one or two ways of spawning copies will actually divert enemy aggression, and the rest almost never will.

Clones actually should deal damage as well, not very much of course but really they should contribute to the fight somehow. Either with damage or random condition infliction to help pile it on. And phantasms should attack more frequently, or much more frequently but have their damage reduced. Currently there’s little reason to keep most of your copies around unless random chance allows one of them to pull an enemy away from you; because as a group, they are worth less damage then your shatter skills.

Oh and why does the second shatter skill exist. It inflicts slightly more confusion then the first but almost no damage, by design it is literally inferior.

The class touts the idea that it’s all about confusion and ganging up on foes, but really the ganging up part is entirely cosmetic and the confusion only exists in PvP. Forget all the abilities the mesmer has that are dead content, they should work on making the core playstyle less linear and boring. Spawn in clones, blow them up.

Meanwhile the Necromancer is tanking champions using their minions, and downing players in PvP while they themselves are downed because the minions are so powerful.

Yeah, clearly that is worth as much as useless cannon fodder copies. Super fun.

Guild Chat STILL Broken?

Guild chat doesn’t work for me. That’s it really, it doesn’t work. Regardless of what I do when I try to type something in it just doesn’t show up in the chat box. Then I find out this issue is at least 7 months old.

Seriously? The Guild Chat is GUILD Wars 2 is broken? And it still hasn’t been fixed?

Are there any ways to solve this problem that don’t involve me shooting myself in the foot because I’d love to be able to fix this without having to quit the guild I’m leading and figure out how to get reinstated and all that rubbish.

Like come on, this is as bad as Runescape selling its soul to cosmetics, and the cosmetic interface is absolutely broken. I really don’t care how big the game is, busy the developers are, or complex the issue is, a problem as fundamental as this really should of been addressed long before now.

Looking to Found Mature Guild

Im’ma experienced leader who has founded and led social groups in other games, looking to found one in this game as well.

The purpose of my groups is to provide a stable social environment where its members can talk, play together and help each-other. The unique aspect being that the group is filtered and watched to ensure that only friendly players with no hostile mannerisms will get in. The purpose is to provide a sanctuary where mature players can be free of disruptive, ignorant or annoying behaviors found in other groups which simply let in any people they come across.

Any players interested in aiding in the founding of this kind of group can add me, send me a message in game, or whisper me if I’m online.

Disable Attack Light Effects?

in Account & Technical Support

I’m really sensitive to light and motion, so I was so glad that the game allows you to turn off the camera shaking that occurs in combat, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to turn off the lighting effects in combat.

Normally when you attack with a melee weapon like an axe is creates a swinging, particle effect thing through the air. But if you hit an enemy, the effect glows and there’s this random burst of light each time. It’s really bothering my eyes and there doesn’t seem to be an option that fully disables this feature. I’ve looked over all of the settings and toggled multiples of them and it only weakens the light effect, but doesn’t remove it. I don’t understand why they allow you to toggle so many technical aspects of the game, but not this one..

It’d be really nice if there was a way to turn this off, unless I’ve missed something.
