Hmm, weapon skills are an odd one out for me. I always thought most are just right, especially after the years of improvements made to them. Guess to keep the fruit hanging low, I’d like to see:
Sword:
- Crippling Thrust (1b) to cleave up to 3 targets.
- Hornet’s Sting cast time reduced from ½s to ¼s to access the evade faster.
- Serpent’s Strike cleave up to 3 targets. Giant snake head and hits only 1 target – blah.
Dagger:
- Crippling Talon shadowsteps the Pet to the target if it hits, similar to “Strike as One” (GW1 skill). Even though giving shadowstep to the player would be better, I’d like to see it go to the Pet, otherwise we’re just copying Thieves.
Axe:
- Winter’s Bite aoe is baseline, but at the cost of a radius reduction to 180 instead of 240. I think at this point, if Winter’s Bite were to be an aoe baseline, this is a fair traide-off so it’s not completely giving the boost Honed Axes provides.
That’s about it. Not too many changes and nothing drastic aside from Crippling Talon.
I like it. These are reasonable changes.
There is still much to improve on pets.
I don’t like that pets with the highest power like canines or drakes does very low damage with their auto attack even compare to pets which have lower power in addition extra condition damage and higher precision. The reason is that they have attack speed 1/4 instead of 1/2 compare to other pets with the same power level. But practicaly it doesn’t really matter. Other skills have rather long cooldowns so dps of these pets sucks for no reason. Wyverns with their 1 sec cooldown double attack do much better.
Also I don’t like gap between crit chance of different precision levels. In general I would like to see all pets being more equal and have their agro distribution adjusted for the appropriate pet types.

No. Right now everyone can do everything. This perk shoudn’t be such a deal like whole trait line. It should be something that gives personality to your class based on play style you are keen to play.
For example as a ranger
1) you like to be archer and play with the bow
2) you like to play melee
3) you like to support other people
4) etc…
One impactful and at the same time negligible bonus based on your personality and what you like.
Currently each class can switch to any build basicaly without any limitation. It’s good that you can adapt your character to different game content or group composition or that you are free to experiment with different build ideas.
However I think it would be nice if each character could permanently choose one feature which would synergies with preferable play style. It suppose to be something that represents role you choose to play with your class. Effect should be impactful enough to make difference but not too much to make huge difference when you switch to another build.
Right now I can think of something like major trait but it sounds kind of boring. It should to be accessible in the late end game so I was thinking about bonus combined based on classes of my other 3 level 80 characters. Do you guys have any other ideas?
This option would add something unique to your class that other players with the same class won’t neccessary have. It would also promote replayability with the same class together with the different race / story line choice.
Maybe it would be better to allow possibility to change this perk but only for really high cost. Maybe even gem store exclusive?
What do you guys think?

Min Maxing. No matter what, the playerbase always does this. Before release anet talked about being able to play the class of choice in any content.
#PipedreamOf course they do — it’s a people problem, and those are very hard to solve with technology problems.
TBH, I think it’s best to see this as “there is a second option for healing, that isn’t druid healer, yay”, rather than anything else…
^this
I am tired how people always looking for “the best”. This limited black-white point of view without any colors…
Unfortunately there are also game mechanics like for example dps check which only narrow the selection of viable/desirable builds for certain content.
if there are no projectiles to block in fight, Protective Solace is 100% useless – can’t swap it for other skill either.
It creates light combo field which can be used to clean conditions from allies.
Wait staff’s 4th skill (blast) and Purifying Essence already does this so yeah…
Condi ranger is fun to play, but basically its not viable in pvp. But fun beats viable offseason.
Why not viable in pvp?
Thank you!
I am kind of dissapointed that my favorite wolves does very little damage as a pet with 1868 power compare to other pets. Same goes for drakes. Balance factor probably suppose to be 1/4 execution time for basic attacks compare to other pets with the same amount of power but it looks like that pet’s decision to attack is probably main delay and attack speed doesn’t really matter. Wyverns do much better with their double attack even with 2 sec cooldown.
Man I hate to pick wyverns over wolves just because they are superior in every way.
Are you guys talking about PvP or PvE? Because in PvP smokescale and bristleback are still the best ones I’m afraid
It depends… I am using Wolf nad Lightning Wyvern for CC. They have rather defensive roles but they are also helpful for breaking defiance bars.
Beides the fact I like to having them as pets.
I’d really like for Electric Wyvern to create a lightning trail combo field like Revenant’s Inspiring Reinforcement (Jalis) so it can be easier to setup.
Exactly! The way it works now is lightning filed often created on the wrong places. It would be much batter if F2 skill work the same way as for lightning wyvern mobs.
Well, increased range on Pets is always worth celebrating. For Wyverns, the addition of reduced cast and aftercasts is a huge bonus, but only for PvE instances. Against players, Canines, Birds, and Smokescale are still the top melee oriented pets.
The tiger almost seems to me like BiS for greatsword builds including Moment of Clarity and Remorseless. It’s pretty sick synergy.
I like wolves so I will stick with them, but I am bit of jealous on tigers now.
Anyway great changes for sure, gj

I like nature, animals, plants and all that stuff so I chose ranger for its theme. I especially like melee/warhorn skill effects so I decided to build around it. Gameplay wise it’s a lot about dodges and right timing. I am really enjoying this play style however compare to other classes I can not seem to find satisfying synergy… one more trait line would be nice. Only thing I don’t like about ranger is elite specialization which basicaly only privides extra healing for cost of sacrificing usefull trait line.
I also have Mesmer, Engineer and Revenant. All classes are fun and unique in its own way.

When the next round of specializations come out, probably around the next expansion (whenever that is), they will be optional paths to the elite specializations already released. For instance, let’s say the next Thief spec is Acrobat, who gains lots of long-range movement skills. That thief player would have to unequip Daredevil and equip Acrobat instead. Also, there are a few people who actually prefer to have 3 of the core specs instead of the elite spec. Not many, but there are some.
Well that’s exactly my case. I am playing melee power ranger and I have lot of fun with it. I feel no need to even fully unlock druid specialization, which has very little to offer for my build. I will probably do it anyway to try out different play styles. However I feel being punished for playing build out of druid spec.
I would like to see new powerful specializations. But maybe there should be something unique for core classes as well.
Just another prespective…
I believe having slightly higher defense could actually benefits you even in offensive ways. Only higher stats doesn’t necessarily means higher damage output. How?
- less time spended by avoiding downstate or lying on the ground will produce more attacks
- finding balance between offense nad defense to not being oneshoted by bosses – again less delays in your activity
- easier keeping of stacks from sigils like bloodlust
Of course I am not talking about extremes like Nomad. The best offense is often the best defence.
Player’s skill does a lot for sure, but there are situations when you will be hit no matter what (out of endurance, skills on cd, wrong timing, etc.) and we all know how messy this game sometimes could be.
There is one thing I don’t like about new specializations and I hope it will change in the future. Many of them seems to me like straight upgrades because they offer extra class skill with all benefits of core specialization. I would rather see replacement solutions or added F5 skill to core specializations to promote more diversity between builds.
In my opinion it really depends on build and role you want to fulfill.
Zerk is simply glass cannon which focuses on raw power. I am using it on my great sword chronomancer and it works just fine. My play style is a lot about kiting and keeping distance while creating distractions with illusions.
I’ve also started to use zerk on my melee ranger and I found out that bit of survivability won’t hurt because when you are playing in melee range you are more often exposed to dangerous situations and sometimes being able to withstand few more hits while dealing damage to boss with broken defiance bar can actually help a lot. So I am working on marauder set now.
You can also play melee ranger build based on regaining opening strikes and for this kind of build works valkyrie better than zerk.
Zerk is in general the best dps option and people often rather improve their offensive capabilities first.
Reason I choosed to play ranger was that I wanted to play nature themed character because I simply like nature, animals, plants and all that stuff. For that reason I like pets. If you only wanted to play archer and none of other options satisfy you as well I believe we will see more archers in next expansion. Anyway pets in my opinion working pretty well for archers in PvE, because even if you are not using pets actively they’re taking a lot of damage instead of you.
Pets redesign
- Put all pets at similar power level. They suppose to have powerful abilities to compensate delay for its execution.
- Depending on the pet type lower their toughtness (agro) and compensate their survivability other way. Pulling agro from you is often helpful but it also can be contraproductive depending on your build.
- Add small aoe to auto-attack of melee pets and increase attack speed of range pets to compensate this advantage.
- It would be nice to have effect for pet swap because right now actual pet just suddenly disappear and new one suddenly appear.
- crazy one – I would love to see more interactions between character and pets. For example be able ride on pets or be able to use skills which combine character and pet attacks to single combo attack.
Druid redesign
- In general if your build is not focused on healing, this specialization has almost nothing to offer. Celestial avatar is all about healing, staff skills are about healing and traits are mostly about CA, staff or healing. Healing. Just look at minor traits you can’t even choose yourself. Druid can benefit from other specializations however other specialization can’t really benefit from Druid. It feels like completely different class. For this reason I would like to see druid completely redesigned.

Main hand dagger – knife throwing / backstab assassin
Off hand sword – I am missing hard hitting skill on my weapon swap to be utillised for the Attack of Opportunity + Opening Strike combo.
Hi,
I cannot complete first part of story mode as blood legion. I stuck in gladiator arena. When fight begins 5 doors open but only 4 gladiators go against me. When I beat them nothing happens. I tried it several times. Am I doing something wrong?
Also when I hit level 13 I should get 5 hero points but It looks like I didn’t get them. I’ve had 6 hero points on level 13 and I am pretty sure I’ve got another 5 hero point for level up before.
Check this please.
Apologies for my english.
