To me, I am not a fan of GvG. I have been a part of them before and have watched several.

They are just extremely boring. There is something exciting about planning, organizing, and executing a keep take over. Knowing the enemy will show up any minute out of nowhere to try to keep it. It requires both guilds to think on their feet through the use of their environment AND their players.

Whereas a GvG is two blobs running into each other than running in circles slowly dying off. Get back up and do it again. Yay?

To me, there is something exciting in designing a group composition, theory crafting builds for optimal group synergy, and then getting the group to function in a coordinated manner. Then comes the actual fight where all that hard work gets put to the test. Did your group get split by a well placed enemy CC? Are there thieves wreaking your backline? What is the status of your team? The enemy? In short, it’s dishonest to simplify gvg as you did.

Seiging is fun (it can incorporate those elements above and offers more variety) until it turns to PvD. Then it reeeally sucks. On the other hand, GvG always delivers a challenging and unique fight.

Please understand I am referring to the 2 guilds that repeatedly ran us over for just watching. Not wanting to get an infraction I used SBI instead of those specific guild names, we’re not so petty as to hold you all responsible for the actions of those 2.

Some of your server mates were trolling(even spike building ballistas during matches) the GvG and quickly returning to the crowd. Our intention was to wipe the trolls. If you got caught in the crossfire then it was an accident. Sorry.

We were the ones that spike built the ballista after you wiped us 3 times for no reason. Only HIRE had interfered with your spectators (not the match) prior to that point and they did for so the same reason we did, you wiped them for no reason as well.

There were no trolls from SoR there, you guys were the ones being disrespectful. I hope in the future you can take losing a little more gracefully and not point fingers at innocent players just wanting to watch what was otherwise a good GvG.

Hello there. I was on the sidelines for that fight, on SBI’s side, and saw it all in action. Let me tell it from my perspective.

We were doing our GvG, as was fine, when we noticed that someone was throwing Grenades during the fight from SoR. I invited the Engineer (who was from RISE) to my party and said “please stop throwing grenades.” He told me “what’s your problem, c**t” and proceeded to throw more grenades at the playing field. I asked for SBI to kill him, which they did.

Say what you will about us perhaps “overreacting”, but when someone is explicitly interfering with the match, and curses at you when you try to ask them to stop, well…

I don’t know. This seems surreal. The fact that you will now even go out of your way to flash build a Ballista to ruin the GvG (which, by the way, not only ruins the GvG for SBI, but also ruins it for the other guild on SoR, who was there to have a fun fight)… is very disheartening. I went over to try and remove the ballista you guys built, and when I was moa-morphed, well, that kind of killed the spirit of sportsmanship we had, and that’s when I asked all of us to start killing people who had the same guild tag as the Engineer who was grenading us (who, by the way, had returned, and was throwing grenades at the playing field once more).

That is my perspective of the story. Maybe I got it wrong, but from my perspective, we were the victims of severe trolling from some rogue SoR spectators (not to implicate all of SoR, because I know that the guild we were fighting was pretty upset about the whole situation as well, as well as a few other spectators who legitimately came just to watch). Perhaps I was mistaken.

If you could let us know the name of the person, it would be great – Just find it hard to believe because we don’t run with any engis.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the name of the Engi. I did report them for the language at me, but I don’t have the logs or anything on me, no. I should have screenshotted it though.

Regardless, if what you said is true, then the Engi in question was probably a troll tag, or simply another guild with the tag RISE.

Perhaps you misremember the tag as another post (as well as several others) in this thread specifies a different tag. See quote below.

I’ve personally witnessed TW running from greater numbers plenty of times. There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s what good groups do when you know you’re not going to come out on the other side alive, and for most it’s for the same reason in most people’s heads, which tends to be “why give those clowns a free bag?”.

I’m all for no guts no glory, but let’s keep it real here.

20 vs 30-40 is doable and we do it all the time.

20 vs 50+ is a whole different ball game and requires the right situation and hit.

That explains what you see.

I hate it when that 35+ group straps on their nikes and runs from our 20-25 man I’m sure TW feels the same way.

However, I will gladly surf the waves of a 50+ red ocean with my 20 friends because you never know how many rally bots that blob has. It could be enough to carry you to safety with a full inventory or send you down to dine with Davy Jones. Either way, it is a fantastic environment to practice sustainability because if you can survive a few minutes in that ocean and down a good portion of them, even numbered fights just become easy.

Great video of RE and TW trying to wipe us at the same time. We utilized the bridge as a choke with the numbers they had on us. The fun part was positioning RE and TW between each other during the fights. Was a hot of a time.

Fun for you guys, sure but we were trying to have a GvG and you saw that and interfered like a kitten. What you see here is 15 [RE] and 15 [TW] in their GvG gear with about 15 orso SoR spectators (who BT killed A LOT OF beforehand, catching them off guard) and about 5 orso TC spectators.

Our intention wasn’t really to WIPE you ([RE] wouldn’t have been able to with our numbers) but to make you bugger off and let us GvG in peace. (which didn’t happen because you saw fit to come 3 more times)

Coming from EU tiers, this is quite disheartening.

I think what we really have to look at here is that Arena Net gave you guys a place to “GVG” it’s called SPVP , not WvWvW. We can clearly understand that “red is dead” as they don’t give you a way to unflag yourself from being subject to the opposing realm.

What we also do know is that GvG takes up spots in WvW for people who actually want to play that aspect of the game, putting players in queue for x amount of time (yes not always, not the point) ruining people’s fun… so I don’t really see how any “GvG” player in WvW has the right to complain or feel as though they should be allowed to not be touched by people who don’t respect the rules you made up all on your own instead of the rules made by the game creators.

So really, you are in the wrong for not only taking up spots but whining to people playing the game as intended.

Sorry [RISE] so many kittening problem earlier. Our GvG commander kept dcing until he ended up not being able to connect to the internet at all. We are all disappointed but let’s reschedule it tomorrow.

Wasted 2 hours of our ([RE] & [RISE]) time, but I look forward to facing [RE] tomorrow. Hopefully your commander’s connection gets fixed or you find a someone else to command.

Make sure you guys organize before the start time so that we can begin on time (figure on 45 minutes before start time).

Greater truths have never been spoken. The BG zergballs during NA primetime nearly make my computer explode, as handling skill animations from 80 men on one screen is not optimal for any PC really :|

Come to a borderland with RISE in it. We refuse to map zerg and enjoy to fight in the open field. So, feel free to join us and leave the map zerg.
