I’d love some help getting ascended armor for either my Druid or my Chronomancer.
I boosted a Mesmer to 80 (Because apparently they take awhile to level) and I leveled a Ranger from the start and he just hit 80 yesterday. What I learned is that with your boost you won’t have enough hero points to immediately unlock your elite spec, but if you level to 80 you do.
I also ignored everyone saying “level a class normally first” and what do you know, they were right. I was so lost but now I actually understand at least a little about the game.
Loving Mesmer so far, guys. Thanks so much for the input.
Thanks guys, I think I’m going to give my boost to my Mesmer and then level a Ranger.
Hey guys,
I’m considering getting HoT and am really interested in playing a support character. I’m aware of the whole “play what you like thing” and also the fact the GW2 has done away with the trinity of traditional MMO’s.
That being said I’m looking for some input on the best support to take to level 80, personal experiences with said class, and usefulness in terms of solo ability on top of group support play.
I’ve kind of narrowed it down to either a Mesmer or a Ranger but before I decide I’d love some input on them, as of right now I have a Mesmer at 22, but I don’t have a ranger.
Things I’d like to consider:
- Versatility (Buffs/Nerfs/Heals provided, Are they good for solo play also)
- Difficulty (I’m not looking for “Easymode” here but I’d love something simple and fun)
Thanks guys, I look forward to hearing about your experiences with those two classes and all the others in a support role also!
Hey folks,
It’s me again! Still finding my way back though I’ve dropped all other ones to come back to this.
I’m wondering why you guys picked the classes that you did, whether you have only one main or several level 80’s that you play. Why that class, and which way do you play it? I THINK every class can tank/heal/dps but I’m not sure.
Also, I’m not new to MMO’s so I know i’m opening myself up to “play whatever class you want” but, is guardian like the best class because I swear I see 9000 of them running around compared to the other classes. I’m personally running around on my elementalist relearning the game and I’m having fun with his tiny squishy self.
Oh, there was also a scroll in my mail, for my account being over a year old, that gave me a teeny tiny queen, an exp boost, and a scroll to boost a character to 20. My ele is already 19 so I’m not gonna use it on him, but…WHAT CLASS SHOULD I USE IT ON?!
Thanks guys, I look forward to hearing your class stories.
WHERE AM I? WHAT AM I DOING HERE? WHO AM I? WHO ARE YOU? GET OFF MY LAWN!
Hey guys,
Recently returned to the game and am slowly getting into it…very slowly, but I’m completely lost. I started my level 18 elementalist again and it seems I’m running around with level 10 equipment on. I’ve realized how squishy I am so I’m working on getting my kiting down so I don’t die.
I’m wondering where I can get equipment that is more suitable for a level 18. I see that quest givers become merchants once you complete their quests and it costs those little purple triangles, is that PvE gear, or PvP, because I’m not sure. Also what weapons are good for leveling an elementalist? I’m dagger/dagger right now.
I’m hoping to get into the game a little more but as of right now I’m kinda just going quest to quest and hoping I find something useful. Any help at all, in any aspect of the game, would be greatly appreciated.
I tried starting a new char to get back into the flow of things, but I’m not really enjoying Necro, so as I said, I’m "Blah"ing my way through my elementalist.
Edit: Also, how does the LFG work in GW2? Does it port you to a dungeon?
Solo in the way that I was having trouble doing quests without dying every few enemies. I was an Asura Elementalist and it wasn’t going well at all.
So, hi guys,
I bought the game very shortly after release and didn’t like it at all. I found it impossible to solo and really couldn’t get into the game…BUT I’M BACK TO GIVE IT ANOTHER SHOT!
I was wondering how the game has progressed, not an in depth because I can read patchnotes for that, but in the sense of the initial gameplay.
I really wanna play a necro but looking at some forum posts I’ve heard they are passed up by players in dungeons because there is a very warrior/guardian los aoe pulling thing going on. I’ve also heard that everything comes from the cash shop nowadays. True, or BS?
Let me know your opinions on the game nowadays guys, I’m excited to come back and give GW2 another go!
I’m currently in progress of making a beginners tutorial/walkthrough for GW2. I think I just have to upload it to Youtube anyways, This is also my first GW game and I started off and currently capped with my Elementalist. It is different than most games I played and does take some getting used to. What I would like to know is what weapons are you using? and where do you explore? You should be doing some good damage at 10 and not struggle so much.
I’ve used dual daggers but getting in close is almost certain death, I’ve used a staff but heard the AoE was basically useless, so now I’m using a scepter and a focus.
So I loved the original Guild Wars and I thought this would be the same, being that it’s sort of a sequel, but I’m really not finding the big deal about the game. I mean the original GW really felt unique, the instancing was great, bar a few times, and the multi class system was great, you could do 2 things at once. I had a Monk/Warrior and I loved playing it.
I’d seen the review for the game so I bought it and started playing, and it seems like it takes forever to level and absolutely everything can kill you. I can dodge twice and that is it, I’m also an elementalist (which I know can’t take hits) but everything does like 3-10 damage on a mob at level 10 which I think is totally ridiculous. Clearly I’m doing something wrong but I don’t know what.
PvP I love, the whole equipment thing is really a good idea, except when I want to play WvW and I’m stuck with my level 10 eq.
The community is great and one of the friendliest I’ve ever seen, so I’m hoping you guys can tell me some things that make you wanna play the game, and maybe if I hear from other players it will make me want to play and actually put some effort in to the game.
Let me be clear, this isn’t an “I want an easymode class” or a “This game is too hard” thread. This is one of those “I’ve been playing for 3 days and I don’t see anything interesting about the game” thread. So, what makes you play and stay, and what can you suggest to bring a little fun to my experience?
Also, I have to add, part of my disappointment is that I’m used to playing, and have fun playing, healing classes, and none exist here.
